Came back to celebrate Mother's Day with the family. Mom's Barramundi (special) was tender and buttery but somewhat dry - we later realized they didn't bring the vinaigrette sauce. I ordered the Veal Raffaella - which was very good but arrived about 12 minutes after our other entrees because our server miffed my order - but I got my side of Penne early! The other orders were mostly good, but execution was way below par - for the place being 3/4 full on a Saturday. I was so so disappointed. Have been going there for years for the gnocchi. It's use to be pillows in your mouth. This trip it was heavy and had an awful taste. 2 of us sent it back and was so bad we wanted nothing else. We had the grilled Romain before. My other friend got a special, it was a pork chop. Well I believe the wanted to make up the sale, because when the bill came the pork chop was $65. Come on this is Willow Grove, not center city. Our bill with our salads, one dinner was now over $100. I see why a fellow Yelper said it could get 'migraine loud' in Lombardi's. The dining room is small and packed with tables, many crammed pretty close. I'd hate to eat there when it's busy! At 2:30, past the lunch rush, we were the only patrons. Our server, a lovely woman who's worked there 21 years (wow!) was attentive and friendly, making for a fun lunch. The food .... well, 3.5 stars. I'm on a Caesar-salad-with-anchovy kick. Lombardi's Caesar is nothing special. They need to experiment with dressings and come up with something better. Eggplant parm was good -- I like when it's thin and a little crisp -- and T enjoyed Chicken Siciliana prepared with peppers, mushrooms and capers. (I'm surprised they don't serve spaghetti with every entree. Really, how much would a commercial supply of pasta cost the restaurant?! Their $4 upcharge is excessive.) We shared dessert, chocolate peanut butter cake -- sort of like a large cupcake --that was mediocre, also excessively priced at $9. What I DID like is that Lombardi's is byob, without a corkage fee. And as I said, lunch was 3.5 stars good, which sometimes is good enough. read more

First time my husband and I dined here for a date night and the food was delicious, the service was amazing and the ambiance was beautiful, except for a few things; the seating is to close to one another everyone walking by kept kicking my chair, it's very loud you can barely have a conversation let alone hear your server and having to use a flashlight to use the menu. I was here for a birthday party that rented out the whole restaurant.It's a cute place had a nice set up with several long tables for guests. A few tables in the front had a cake, party favors and gifts. It was a sitdown lunch with three choices: chicken parm, ravioli and salmon. . The food was really good. The service was also good. So happy I tried this place! My husband and I have been dying to try this place! But we never had the opportunity until recently. The parking lot is little small but they do offer overflow parking in the back which is nice. We made reservation for dinner and when we got there, we got sat right away. We were supper hungry so we ordered 1 appetizers and 3 entree but everything sounded super good! Their portion sizes are huge and they're a BYOB which is a plus! The only thing negative experience about this place was that the utensils was dirty so we had to get new ones. But overall we had a great time! read more

We were in the area and I found Cafe Lombardi's on Yelp. The reviews were really good so off we went. This is a small restaurant that delivers really good flavor. Our service was really good. Our waitress was attentive but not over bearing (which is really nice). The food was on point. I had the Eggplant Parmesan and it was really good. The portions were substantial and had good flavor. I would recommend this restaurant and would come back when I am back in the area. read more

Believe the hype. My first experience was take out from Cafe Lombardi's as my girlfriend picked up an order Calamari alla Veneziana and Chicken Siciliana. Calamari alla Veneziana - (Appetizer) Very spicy however the sauce is so good I was rotating from piece of bread dipping into this sauce and then next piece of bread into olive oil with cracked pepper. I will definitely try more of there calamari dishes as it is one of my favorite items to order with pasta at an Italian restaurant. Chicken Siciliana - Chicken sauteed in olive oil, garlic, capers, peppers & mushrooms in a tomato sauce. We subbed out the tomato sauce for a white wine sauce and the dish was certainly on point. Only criticism is they did not put a lot of pasta in this order. Girlfriend and I split it but felt like it was maybe three to four spoon fulls of pasta for each of us. It's like walking into a South Philly row-home that's been set up to "Welcome" as many people as possible. I, for one, loved it. Yes, it was a small dining area! Yes, you sit very close to the table on either side of you! Do you hear everyone else talking about whatever? Yes, you do, and it adds to the whole experience. Let's talk about the food . . . WOW! Loved everything we ordered. I went for the Seafood Lombardi's, and it was just perfect--the scallops, shrimp, lobster tail, and mussels were all tender and flavorful, served over perfectly al dente penne pasta. Honestly, if I could have licked the bowl without drawing unwanted attention, I might have! I wish I had ordered more bread to help me savor every drop. The other entrees looked equally delicious, and everyone in our group had nothing but great things to say about their meals. A wide assortment of food options beautiful platings fresh ingredients easy-going relaxed experience oh and did I say BYOB and I say parking and credit cards and they take reservations and they don't say no all the great makings of a fabulous night out and one to remember. We loved food , ordered veal parmigiana and chicken and shrimp Alexandra (?) penne. So good!! I requested to make my veal parmigiana spicy but was not spicy at all. Despite, still very good! I can really agree with other reviews saying this place is hidden gem! Im glad that i tried out this place. One of the best italian ive ever had!! One that is not franchise.. I cannot wait to revisit next time!! The place is pretty spacious so i dont think you need reservations but even on monday dinner, they were pretty busy. So im assuming weekend must be busier. The restaurant was 80% empty, the only table they offered was the smallest table for 2 in the corner by the entrance We asked for a different table with more room and not by the entrance door The woman with the hat by The cash register said no tables are available and we will need to wait We asked how much time will we need for table, the cashier said no idea you can wait outside I said that's OK. I came to Cafe Lombardi's for a work lunch with 5 of my co-workers. We arrived around 11:45 am and were seated right away, but we also beat the lunch rush by a few minutes. This place is definitely good for groups, but if you have a party larger than 6, I would recommend calling ahead. The lunch menu is completely separate from the dinner menu. The lunch menu has a variety of sandwiches, pizza, pastas, and entrees, most of which are under $10. I got the Gnocchi Mama Lombardi and it was amazing! It came in a rose sauce, which was delicious. Our waiter was very helpful and asked if anyone had any questions before we started ordering. He brought us two bread baskets for the table and was very kind when we asked for more bread (not all waiters/restaurants are). Our food arrived pretty quickly and we did not feel like our waiter rushed us our after we finished eating and paid the bill. I highly recommend this place! We are the owners of Aspire Kitchen and Baths. We have been interested in this establishment for quite some time. If you are looking for fresh authentic Italian food this is the place to be. The calamari appetizer was delicious. We had 2 of their specials and they were hearty. All of the ingredients were fresh! The ambiance is decent. The tables have plenty of room as to not feel crowded. The wait staff is friendly and efficient. We certainly will patronize this establishment again. You can tell they must be consistent because they had a consistent stream of business. We went for my birthday. There were 6 adults in our party. The food was fantastic, everyone loved what they had. Two people had the chicken Parm. It was a hit. My husband had the eggplant parm as an appetizer and chicken calabrese. Said the eggplant was the best he's every had and the chicken dish was excellent. Me, Im a purest. The food runs from mediocre to good here, depending on what you get. We were there on Sunday, 4-14-23 for dinner at around 7:00. I got Pasta Fagiol soup and it was very authentic and savory. The bowl was large. It was a good way to start off the meal. I decided on Shrimp Fra Diablo and my dining companion got Chicken Parmesan for dinner. Both portions were large. The Fra Diablo was flavorful and pretty spicy like it's supposed to be, albeit a bit too much for my taste. The shrimp were large but there were only five of them. The marinara sauce on the chicken was good. The chicken cutlets were disappointing--dry, a bit rubbery, and did not have the best flavor. Chicken Parm should be easily cut with a fork and practically melt in your mouth. This did not. We actually went to Carrabba's shortly after this dinner, and their Chicken Parm was far superior to this. I'm very picky about my chicken too. I only buy organic chicken breasts and I know how to cook them so they're tender. We won't be ordering it from Lombardi's again. The entrees came with a few slices of cold bread and butter. That was a bit disappointing. Salads were not included with the meal. I was overall pretty happy with the food though. The service was a different story. Our server started out ok but wasn't overly friendly, just going through the motions, which was fine at first. Our food came out fast because it wasn't very busy in the restaurant. A large group had finished and the servers wanted to go home. I know that because they were all up front talking about it and the fact that the tips were bad all night. That's not something I want to listen to while I'm trying to relax and eat my dinner! Anyway, our server (petite blond with glasses) delivered our meals and then checked back to see how they were. That was all good so far. Then she seemed in a rush to get us out the door. She came back again while we were still eating to ask if we wanted anything else. I told her not right now. Then when I had finished eating, but my dining companion was still eating dinner with a good amount of food left on the plate, the server came back again to ask if we wanted anything else or dessert. I told her I would like a to-go container for my food but we weren't sure about dessert because he wasn't done eating yet. She said sorry and left. How do you not know as a server to not ask about dessert while people are still eating? It's rude and common sense not to do it. Who trained her? She brought the dessert tray and nothing looked very appetizing or homemade. They were all these little round cakes on a tray that looked mass produced and were obviously bought from somewhere else. She did mention cannolis and tiramisu too. Last time we were there, the desserts looked all homemade and included delicious coconut cake. We declined dessert. Our server brought over the check, I put a credit card down and she took it. Then she came back to the table, dropped the check without saying a word, and started walking away. My companion said, "Thank you.", and she said, "Yeah." She seemed to have a gotten an attitude when I told her we didn't know about dessert since he was still eating. That and trying to rush us annoyed me. If you work for tips, be at least minimally pleasant, and also at least say thank you when dropping a check. If it weren't for customers coming into the restaurant to eat, you wouldn't have a job! Fake it if you have to. The only one who was cheerful and nice was a very tall young woman who said thank you to us as we left. The others all complained loudly as they cleaned up and then as they were sitting down talking up front for most of the time we were there. I don't know who the manager was or if there even was one at the time. Someone needs to re-train the servers how to wait on a table and discourage them from having loud personal conversations in front of guests, especially complaining about bad tips. Maybe if they spent more time working, instead of complaining about guests loudly in front of other guests, their tips would be better. It put a damper on our night out when we wanted to relax, not listen to their complaining. Last time we had a very friendly, great server, who was an older woman. It was a busy Saturday night and everything went well. Maybe we'll give Lombardi's another try since the food is good. Hopefully if we do, we'll be lucky, not order the Chicken Parm or Shrink mo Fra Diablo, and get a competent, friendly server. Bring back the coconut cake! read more

Just had a meatball parm sandwich for a late lunch today. Very tasty and worth the $11 and change price tax included for this sandwich. Served hot and with a small bag of chips this sandwich was the perfect meal for my lunchtime craving of something Italian to eat!!! I've only passed Cafe Lombardi's like 10,000 times in my life and today was the first time I stopped in there after wondering way too long how the food was... I'll be back again FOR SURE next week Have to try something else now!!!! It's not the place you go for a quiet romantic dinner where you linger over the linguini and gaze into your love's eyes. It's a place you go because you want good food that fills your belly and doesn't leave you feeling like a bloated ball of grease like some chain Italian places do (we all know I mean Olive Garden, right?). The menu is pretty basic, no fancy truffled pasta or swordfish a la mode or what have you. This is a place where you can get a side of fries with your pasta, you know, if you're really about that carb life. But oh, what pasta it'll be! I love carbs and I LOVE gnocchi, so I've had it from everywhere in a 50 mile radius. Cafe Lombardi's version holds up to my critical tastebuds. It's flavorful and rich without drowning in sauce. These are little pillows of deliciousness, light enough that they don't feel like a rock in your stomach, but dense enough that your belly will be full and happy. It doesn't taste like something you'd get in the suburbs at the same place you can get a hoagie and fries...it tastes like something you'd get in the city, but without the drive or the high Philly prices. It's BYOB, so grab your favorite wine, a set of earplugs and your great uncle Nino on your way there.
