Shopsin Club on Gluten Free Bread
    Caroline J.

What an exciting addition to PHL! First, I love the aesthetic, all the sitting, outlets for charging and comfortable seats. Great location at Terminal D and easy to walk to after getting off the shuttle. Second, I love fresh food, and it is HARD to find that when traveling in an airport. I am currently exhausted and sleep-deprived, and all I wanted tonight was something fresh that wasn't a salad for once. You don't make friends with salad, and I love greens, but I needed a sandwich FAST. Enter Middle Child who has homemade gluten free bread from a local baker and a VERY knowledgeable staff about gluten allergies. VERY knowledgeable. Even in an airport, with allergies they clean the griddle and change their gloves, and they don't complain about it! EVERYONE understood the assignment, and I felt very safe eating here. Let's talk sandwich. I got the Shopsin Club on GF bread, and when I say I devoured it, that is the classy way of saying I housed that sandwich FAST. I don't even know if I took a breath TBH. The freshness of every bite hits hard. Homemade pickles that have a great crunch and my favorite vinegar bite, a cranberry miso that was lovely without tasting heavy or greasy, HUGE pieces of avocado and a CHUNK of turkey. I have been sitting here for 15 minutes considering getting another one because it was truly that good. It just tasted so fresh and I felt just so light after eating it. I was able to go on my next flight not worrying about food sitting in my tummy or a tummy ache. Even the bread was perfectly crispy and not even a little bit broke off when eating it. The bread holding up to the sandwich was impressive, and that CRUNCH. YES!!! All on such a friendly, kind staff who checked in on me and asked me how I liked the food and made me smile and laugh after a very long day was greatly appreciated, and in an airport where everyone is always on the move, it was nice to stop and have a friendly eating experience. Next time I'm here I will 100% stop by again, and I will rave about them any time I can! I'm sure their other locations are just as great too!

A pleasant surprise to have at the airport! Great quality and great service! Will try to make my way through terminal D again.

I got hella excited to see this franchise at the airport. The experience wasn't that great. The kitchen and serving staff seem to be getting orders mixed up. Also the kitchen seemed to not know how to make the orders. Definitely did not taste like the actual spot in fishtown. $18 for a small sandwich that had fast food taste vibes.

Tremendous consistency throughout all locations for the Middle Child family, well done. Airport location was quick service, got my sandwich in under 10 minutes. Tasted and felt exactly the same as any other location would make it. Friendly staff and fair prices for the airport. So Long Sal remains the best sandwich in Philly without a doubt!

Omg.. The Burger add egg & bacon!

Terminal D: Excellent Service!! Best airport cocktails I've ever had, and the food quality is top tier-hot and flavorful! Did I mention swift?! Don't pass this one up!

Arguably one of the best meals I've had at an airport eatery (low bar, I know). I'm in Philly at least a few times a year and always at D gate (thanks Alaska). Did not even know that this place had been put in (opened in September). Menu looked great and Bryan (great name!) working the counter was perhaps the friendliest person I've encountered at an airport. Ordered the breakfast sandwich and went all in with bacon & avocado added + a side of tots. Sandwich was fantastic and it's SO much food. Even with a big appetite, I couldn't finish the whole thing. It's definitely a shareable. Orange juice was good too. Will definitely be coming back here the next time I'm flying out of Philly.

Great service. Located at end of terminal D. Can dine in or carry out. They have some of staples that they have a storefront in center city.

Good affordable options for airport food. Lots of seating and breakfast all day. GF options as well

I was SO excited to find a Philly favorite in the D gates (right by D12) in PHL. Is it as good as the main location, no. Is it some of the best eats you'll find in PHL, absolutely. Also as this cafe area is closed off for customers only, it is very peaceful, has lots of plugs to charge up, and is just enjoyable to sit at while waiting for your flight. I just want to call out how courteous the staff is here. Everyone was so nice and just going above and beyond to make sure everyone enjoyed their food. If you're in PHL, I would highly recommend stopping by!

At long last and with much anticipation from frequent PHL Delta flyers, Middle Child has finally opened in the D gate area! The menu offers a selection of brunch sandwiches, salads, and beverages, including liquor/beer. Coming in at $12 minimum per breakfast sandwich, this spot has a lot to prove in comparison to the prices of the Dunkin next door. Having not been to the original location, we ordered the Breakfast Sandwich and honestly were hoping for a little more interest than what we received. The sandwich was grilled on white bread that felt buttery to the touch. Melted white American cheese and arugula sat atop a thick patty of fluffy egg- perhaps steamed before being grilled? Not a bad taste, but a bit bland. We would have preferred a little less butter but were pleased it wasn't as salty as most airport fare. Can you convince yourself that this is a healthier option based on the arugula? Probably not, but I did like seeing some green in there! Seating area is roomy and offers great gate views and an arrivals/departures board for convenience. Food is delivered to your seat after order. Not bad but not overly impressive. Hopefully this spot will flourish to continue to add some variety to the terminal!

Surfer: House turkey, melty swiss, blueberry chutney, duke's mayo, arugula, ciabatta.

They offer about ten different made to order salads. The salads range in calories with the majority at about 300 before adding dressing. You're in an airport so you really need to be efficiently organized for hangry/rushed travelers! My salad was fine, but they dumped way too much dressing on it. I also didn't have much time to eat it, since they decided to start boarding not long after they handed out the vouchers. Glad I didn't pay, since that was one pricey salad. It used up most of my voucher! Ah, well. I'd pass on this place in the future, but it wasn't a terrible meal.

It definitely needed some hot sauce or sauce inside. But BABY!!! those sweet potatoes! I have NEVER had sweet potatoes in a burrito, and they were the star of the whole thing!!! They kept dancing on my palate! I might come back and order a sweet potato burrito next time. Guacamole is about $3.50 extra, but you can add several other toppings without extra charges. Airport prices, of course, so my burrito and soda weren't cheap, but I'd definitely eat here again!

Honestly, quality is pretty good. This is the rare case where the portion size actually matches the price in the genre of airport food. Taste wise is also solid. Expect about what you'd find in a Chipotle, except be surprised that you found it in an airport terminal. Staff were helpful and the only knock is that they ran out of carnitas during peak lunch time. Not sure how that happened, but would love some improvement in proper stocking at peak meal times. That being said, about any time of day is peak meal time at an airport, so it's understandable and doesn't bring down the overall impression of the place.

Ok so you gotta join the free email rewards. They always have good deals throughout the week. $7 burger meals are hard to beat. Add on the garden bar for another $7, which has some pastas, potato salad, protein, and fruit, on top of your typical salad options. It's nice taking the onions, tomoatos, cucumbers, peppers, mushrooms, cheese, and putting it in the entree (like a burger). It truly elevates the meal. If you have extras you can take it to go to really get your moneys worth I almost knocked it down a star for the restroom being not the cleanest, the stall door being wonky/not locking but hey I really can't complain with the value we're getting here, it's easily overlookable. One other thing to note was it looked like our server was the bartender (a bit understaffed) which added maybe a 10-15 min wait in total, not a problem especially given you can start out with the garden bar pretty much as soon as you're seated. The atmosphere is pretty chill and cozy. Not loud (no loud music or anything despite having a bar), nice dim/calm setting to relax and enjoy a nice meal. And plenty of parking. Highly recommend!

Furthermore, the 3% was applied to the sales tax as well as the purchase price. (3% of $8.99 would be 27 cents, not 29 cents. This is probably why the final total was hand-entered, to get around a software limitation of some sort.) I'm not so concerned about the amount of the fee, but the way it was presented was deceptive. The payment terminal should allow a full breakdown of the amount charged prior to payment, or the employee should at least clearly answer, when asked, that the total includes taxes and fees, but only taxes. As for the food itself, this is probably the best place in Terminal D to get fresh fruit to go, hence two stars rather than one.

As for the chipped cream beef my mother was totally happy with it she said, it was cooked perfectly and it was enough for two people. This should make the produce workers very happy. My suggestion, if you are buying bulk produce or willing to pay $3 to park the food is good and a very fair price. You can also park on the street and walk the equivalent of 3 blocks.
