I am really disappointed in myself for just writing this review (smh) My go to is the Spicy Dragon Panini, but since I usually sub the turkey for extra avocado. My co-workers and I were looking for a sandwich shop that can deliver to our building and we found this cafe on Uber Eats. The restaurant has really interesting sandwiches to choose from and they all sounded delicious! My co-worker and I decided to split both the Summer Royal Panini (Ham, Brie Cheese, and Fig-Apricot-Orange spread on ciabatta) and the BBQ Chicken Panini (Rotisserie chicken, American cheese, bacon, and barbecue sauce, we omitted the tomatoes that it normally comes with). I also ordered the Lavender Lemonade. The lavender lemonade was absolutely delicious and is a close second to my favorite lavender lemonade ever at a New Jersey teahouse. It was sweet and not too floral, delicious!! As for the sandwiches, out of the two that we split, we preferred the BBQ Chicken sandwich. I would have LOVED the Summer Royal better if the spread was JUST fig, not apricot/orange/fig. On Uber Eats, I wasn't able to find a field to customize the spread (to only make it fig), but maybe next time if we go there again. The food was really good! read more

I've had Torch-Wood on my radar since I heard it had some pretty delicious sandwiches. Finally found them for delivery on Caviar! Of the three things I tried, my favorite by far was the breakfast bagel. Good flavor on the sausage and a good sized bagel, it was delivered while it was still hot! Second favorite was the lox on a bagel, coming with a good amount of lox and a good ratio of cream cheese. I find that bagel shops sometimes skimp on the fish, but not Torch-Wood! Woohoo Last but not least, the Italian hoagie. Comes with spinach instead of lettuce, and it felt like a classed up version of a staple that we all know and love. Good cheese and just enough meat. Cute little cafe. Have been here a few times over the past year or so. Family run (it seems). Staff is friendly and service is courteous and prompt. Menu is robust for such a small place. Modest selection of hot beverage choices. Good selection of pastries and such. Minimal choices for bagels (today for example they only have plain and everything). Lots of choices for smoothies, breakfast sandwiches/paninis, and seasonal drinks. Lots of lunch choices for food as well; but all hand held (sandwiches, wraps, paninis, etc). Decent selection of bagged chips and canned sodas. Good music and a lot of seating for its size. Overall I would strongly recommend this place for coffee, a quick snack, or light lunch. read more

I have eaten from this business for about 2 years. I ordered today through DoorDash to inform them that my Dasher had the unfortunate experience where my drinks were in an unstable container and they did not replace the drinks. I called and a female answered "I am the manager" I attempted to explain what happened and the "manager" cut me off and said "we had no spillage in my store...there is no spillage"...I stated she was speaking "aggressively" to me (which she was and I suspect her sobriety by speaking not only belligerent but hanging UP on a CUSTOMER. Unfortunately an intervention is needed...I hope someone is willing to rectify the issue through Yelp since this company LOVES to hang up on customers who are trying to get the information-it may not have happened but when you speak over a customer and REFUSE as a "MANAGER" to give your name, that doesn't do you ANY favors-you kissed a reorder and sale. And lost a few customers...thanks a LOT. I would give this place a zero-as how they like to be accountable, but I believe Yelp is being TOO kind on this establishment. read more

Torch-Wood is getting bumped up a star for coming through with one of the best lox bagels my friend and I have ever had! A friend came by today to help me with a career transition, so I told him I would pick up bagels, intending to get them from Philly Style Bagels on Arch Street. I showed up at Philly Style and they were inexplicably closed. A quick search on UberEATS indicated that Torch-Wood had a lox bagel with "vegetables." It was a bit of a vague description, but I could walk there in just a few minutes, so I gave it a shot. Plain bagel for me, everything bagel for my friend, and crossed my fingers... The bag was heavy when I picked it up, and when we opened our to-go boxes, we were met with extremely fresh, chewy bagels piled high with lox! There was ample cream cheese, enough to have to wipe your mouth with a napkin while eating, but not so much that it overwhelmed the sandwich. Vegetables turned out to be a very fresh tomato slice, cucumbers, red onion (which I picked off bc I don't love raw onion) and capers. My Jewish, deli-loving friend declared it one of the best lox bagels he'd ever had, which is high praise indeed! I would put this on par with Famous 4th Street at less than half the price. Lunch for both of us rang in at $18. Thank the universe for happy accidents like the other place closing early. I have a new go-to for one of my favorite sandwiches right around the corner! The rest of their menu continues to be interesting and creative and features seasonal specials. It's possible I may branch out, but right now, all I can think about is their lox bagel! read more

So, I live nearly across the street and have ventured here a few times to pick up some items when this sandwich shop was also a corner market. They have since downsized the market but now strictly make sandwiches. I ordered online and went in to pick up at about 2pm on a weekday. They were doing steady business. The menu over the bar is huge and overwhelming. If you can't find something you'd like you probably don't like food. I ordered one of the panini and a lemonade. The panini was amazing! I'm not sure what I expected but it was fresh, hot, and packed full of good fresh ingredients. The lemonade had more of a packaged flavor than I'd like but it was cold with a slice of lemon. This is clearly a family business, the kind of place that makes up the backbone of this city. I'll have to come back for the breakfast sandwiches and maybe those smoothies. I've ordered from here several times - often for delivery, but I've also eaten in the cafe area and I've walked in and placed to-go orders. It seems to be a well-run family restaurant. The menu is extensive and all of the paninis I have tried are delicious. I like that there are paninis with Indian flavors (e.g., curry chicken, mango chutney) as well as standard panini offerings (e.g., mozzarella pesto tomato). The seasonal menu offerings are also delicious - Brie, spinach, and strawberries panini? Yum!! The smoothies and pastries I have tried have been equally delicious and fresh! While waiting or eating in the cafe, I have noticed a couple other things. One, the meats for the sandwiches are cut fresh as orders are placed (explains why the sandwiches are so good!). Two, the employees' (owners'?) interactions with the various delivery folks who pop in - seemingly constantly during lunch! - are always calm, respectful, and patient (even when the delivery folks are not). I have found that how business owners treat their employees and other service workers is a good indicator of how they run their businesses in general (e.g., whether they cut corners). This makes me all the more happier to support Torchwood Cafe. read more

Torch-Wood had awesome reviews and their selection of sandwiches and paninis looked great so we gave 'em a try. Food came quickly and both our paninis were still warm. We both settled on two of the fall/winter specials--I went with the Bacon Avocado Melt and my BF went with the Fig-Prosciutto Monte Cristo. They were both DELICIOUS.
