a roast beef sandwich wrapped in tin foil
    Tom F.

I have complaints but the food was so good I don't care, 5 stars. Just ordered a hot roast beef. There was issues with ordering and pickup. One being that it actually didn't come out hot, more of hoagie cold meat with hot cheese and bread. (Even though I clarified like 3 times to make it hot.) There's other things that got under my skin but I won't post them here. But damn is this sandwich good, yumm. Definitely grab a few sandwiches from here and find one you love.

    Uncle Gaetano's Turkey Sandwich
    Kristina C.

Walked passed this location so many times that I had to stop in and try it. Cute little shop. Few indoor tables but I took it to go. Not a huge menu but I'm sure they would make a custom sandwich if asked. They made my sandwich right in front of me and they were so fast which is always nice. I ordered Uncle G turkey. It was turkey with pancetta and a garlic aioli. The aioli tasted more like mayo and I wasn't the biggest fan. I may go back and try a different sandwich. But I'd rather try a new place.

    Not such a stallion

Ordered lunch from here today via Uber Eats. I cannot believe how disappointing it was. I ordered the Italian Stallion and specifically noted to have the aioli on the side because I was pretty sure I would not like it. Instead, they ignored my note and it was loaded with aioli which was disgusting. The cheese was chopped up and there wasn't much there, nor was there enough meat and the meat was slimy and gross. The only thing that would have been good was the roll except it was coated with aioli. This was just so bad, I had to throw it out. When I called them no one answered. Big waste of money.

Plastic found in my sandwich :(
    Katherine K.

I really, really want to give this place more than 2 stars. The sandwich wasn't bad. I think the flavors were there. But. I found a plastic piece in the sandwich. That's a huge no-no for me. In addition to the plastic, the bread was soggy. I was surprised to learn that Matt & Marie's customizes your sandwich even after you order something off their standard menu (I ordered this online). Plus points for using seeded bread for sandwiches.

    Breakfast sandwich

Matt & Marie's definitely saved me this morning with their Illy coffee and hefty breakfast sandwich. I didn't see the itemized pricing, but together these items came up to under $6. I got an egg, sausage, and cheese sandwich which was pretty tasty and lasted me until dinner. The bread (Italian) was very fresh, with a nice crispy sesame crust. There was definitely a generous amount of filling - a bit heavy on the scrambled eggs. It didn't seem they pre-added salt in the egg, so I would definitely recommend adding some separately, or perhaps some hot sauce, if they have any (sorry, forgot to ask - that's what happens to me on Monday mornings). The amount of sausage was a bit sparse compared to the amount of egg, but it had a very strong flavor, so that was fine. However, I felt the ingredients were not evenly spaced out through the sandwich, so I had a couple bites of egg sandwich or egg & cheese sandwich before the sausage, egg & cheese portion. At any rate, this place is a super convenient stop for me (only a block away!) and the service is very good. (I met Marie, one of the owners, and she is very friendly.) They also have some interesting-looking breakfast pastries that I'd like to try and some tasty-looking sandwiches. I'm definitely stopping back here again.

    The Testarossa Sandwich

Tastes good but a whole lot of work on presentation and lacking in substance (see smoke and mirrors with rolling meat in middle but nothing at end).

Great place to stop in for lunch. Was in town for conference and ordered toasted roast beef sub. Quick service and delicious sub!

    Chicken cutlet special
    John M.

$11 and change for 1 small chicken cutlet, 1 long hot, 2 slices of cheese and a little aioli. If it were in the $6 range I would be happy however with all the options in the city, not sure why anyone would come here. They had to make $9 and change off my $11 dollar sandwich

Mayo, turkey, fresh mozzarella, arugula, and iceberg lettuce!

I went to Middle Child a few weeks ago just after 3, only to find it closes at 3. Today I returned, around 1, and there was a good crowd there having lunch. I ordered the Surfer, and the Hash Brown Potatoes. The Surfer is Middle Child's most popular sandwich. It's made on a Ciabatta bun, and has a thick layering of tender, lean, House Turkey breast, with melty Swiss cheese, arugula, blueberry chutney, and Duke's mayo. It's hard to describe just how delicious this sandwich was. My biggest concern was the Ciabatta bun - it's not one of my favorites, as I've found them to be tough and difficult to bite through. My fears were quickly put to rest after the first bite! The bun had a slightly crispy exterior - and when I followed through with my first bite, the tender, soft interior of the Ciabatta was a pleasant surprise. In fact, it complemented the thick savory Turkey, arugula, chutney and mayo! It was one of the best Turkey sandwiches I've had. Now, if that wasn't enough, don't forget, I ordered the Hash Brown Potatoes. It said Hash Browns on the blackboard, see attached picture, but these 'weren't your Mama's hash browns'! They are described online as Latka'd Hash Browns. They are thick crispy squares that combine a potato pancake latke with a hash brown texture. The interior reminded me of my mother's potato kugel, which I still reminisce about. In one word, those fried crispy potato squares were outstanding. It's 'a must try' and goes so well with the Surfer! Last, but not least, the Limeade! It was so refreshing! Not too tart, not too sweet... just right! I'll be returning to Middle Child in the not too distant future!

The corned beef was an enticing vibrant pink, tender and juicy, with a perfectly balanced and pure saltiness that accentuated the beef's natural flavor. The scrambled eggs were incredibly smooth and creamy, complemented by the rich, melted cooper sharp cheese. The rye was toasted with butter, giving it a thin, crispy crust and a soft interior--a bit softer than Hershel's East Side Deli's, fragrant but not greasy. Every part was delicious, and the combination was harmonious and delightful. The portion of ingredients was very generous, definitely worth the $14.50 price. The service was a little slow, but the moment you tasted it, you would forgive everything!

They also have sides that include - tots, fried pickle chips, onion rings, fries, fried mozzarella and Zayda's pickle spears, chips and cherry pepper shooters. They have a couple of vegan options and GF rolls for extra $$. The staff was more than happy to give recommendations and their favs. My first lunch was The Eye - $15 Ribeye steak, Cooper Sharp American, fried onions came on a seeded Liscio's roll. If you enjoy the somewhat newer Cooper sharp style that's out there you'll like theirs. The Cooper sharp was gooey, mixed in well with the meat and on the heavier side. The ribeye was thin cut, delicious and the portion was pretty hefty. Second visit I went with - The Nad - $15 Chicken cutlet, fresh mozzarella, prosciutto, arugula, Mike's Hot Honey that came on an unseeded Liscio's roll. The portion size was good, chicken was fresh with good breading, the hot honey was a tad on the heavy side, but the flavors all came together pretty good on this one. Sweet, salty, light bitterness from the arugula and some heat from the hot honey. I added Thin Cut Idaho fries to make it a combo for $3 extra and I have to say they were delicious. They smelled like McD's and tasted similar. They are cash only, but have an ATM on site. You can use a card if you order online. The one bathroom they have was pretty clean and organized. I will certainly stop back for a visit if I'm in the area to try out more of their menu. Thanks guys!
