It's a dive bar. Easy parking, cute lil ambiance, decent service. Came in for breakfast but it was over. Luckily for me they had chicken and waffles on the menu and it was delicious. Their chicken was a boneless cut which is actually what I prefer to actual wings or chicken tenders. Everything was seasoned perfectly and hot. This is somewhat of a hybrid review for both this location in particular and the chain as a whole. Their milkshakes are amazing, but everything else is extremely overrated in almost every way. Is the food cheap? Sure, but it adds up since most entrees do not come with any sides or drinks. Is the food good? Sometimes. Most of it is very basic stuff you can get at any diner. The only things that are really unique are the soda fountain and the milkshake options. This particular location is a bit crazy. The parking lot is so tiny it's nerve wracking, and you'll likely be worried about hitting another car since they're all packed in like sardines. If it's a weekend afternoon, forget about it, you'll never find a spot. The crowds really keep me away, since the wait is just insane and there's always a line. If you want something from here I suggest getting takeout. So to sum it all up - yes, I'll order takeout milkshakes from this location. I've never heard of this place, but my friend recommended it as we were traveling from Walmart back to our hotel not too far away, and we were glad we did so. The full vibe was like walking into an old school 50s diner. It was such a cool experience. The decor to the cups and everything was so 50s diner. Super cute. The service was great! We were welcomed, seated upon arrival, the waitress was training and informed us of that prior to beginning to take our order. She was very efficient, very knowledgeable, and helpful as well. The food we ordered a bacon cheeseburger, chicken cheesesteak, Texas burger, a chili dog and smothered crab fries. The food was cooked fresh, you could tell. The burgers were hand pressed on the grill. The fries fresh cut. The veggies were fresh. This place was amazing! The price point was also very good and affordable. First off "Emily" was our server and she was superb!!! So, I traveled from King of Prussia to visit Nifty Fifties on Macdade. I'm from Delco so it was nostalgic for me. Some things have definitely changed. I used to bring my kids here all the time when they were small. Now I was bringing my youngest son and my Grandson. It's not as Kid Friendly as it used to be Besides the gumball machines costing dollars instead of cents..... lol I was disappointed when I noticed there is NO KIDS MEAL listed anywhere on the menu or even the kids coloring page. And if your kid want a milk shake.... You have to buy their giant full sized milkshakes that cost $7.50 or more .... NO Exceptions!! My grandson is 7! It would literally be unhealthy for him to finish this! And since I live so far! The idea of taking it home is a joke. The milkshakes are still great by the way and so are the fries but I think it's sad that the kids aren't as important as they used to be. And lastly .... I must mention.....They got this kid there named "David." I couldn't help but notice how diligent and hardworking he was. They are lucky to have him. Good help is hard to find. read more

I have not been in this particular restaurant for 20 years because the food and service was very minimal. My niece and I went for her birthday dinner. Everyone greeted us as we walked in. Every time i looked behind the counter, the servers and cooks were grabbing food here and there and eating. Just walking around eating. Aside from a health code violation it is just bad business to allow this behavior. a waste of money. we got burgers that were dry and basic. not worth $10.00 . Excellent customer service here. Before coming into the establishment, my friends and I saw a poor woman on the ground. She was already being properly helped and all we could do was wish her well. It was extremely hot on this day. Even though the food wasn't on-par for some of my friends, it was well done for what Nifty Fiftys is and I felt it deserves 5 stars even though it was 4 stars for me personally. I had a take out soda of vanilla creme and toasted marshmallow which was delicious (unpictured) in addition to bubblegum and cotton candy which was also good. The soda flavor combinations and milkshake flavors are "innumerable" and that is why you come here! I mean, you could try out a cookie dough lemonade, if you so dare! Their burgers are respectable but I like Charlie's down the street more and some of the mainstream fast food ones lol. I purposely picked one with lettuce and tomato in it this time around. I thought onion rings were included on the side but that was extra and too much food. Was going to pick food off my relatives instead but they never finish theirs and it just went to waste :( One of my friends didn't like the filet mignon because it was too "diner" like for him. So it made me sense that the food was done well but just not his preference and that Nifty Fiftys is literally a diner type setting. So very appropriate food. I used to frequent their location on Street Road in Bensalem years ago before it burned down. I've driven by this location many times since I was a kid, but this was my first visit. I found parking easily, the lot is bigger than I thought. I've always loved the 50's theme and appreciate the old tunes they play. I used to get either a burger or a filet mignon sandwich back in the day. This visit was for lunch and I found seating right away at the counter/bar area. The place was packed with people waiting for takeout orders. I had a very nice and pleasant waitress who recommended the Texas Ringer which is a burger topped with yellow cheese, bacon, onion ring, lettuce and a Texas petal sauce. She said to go with a double so I said why not? The wait was longer than I anticipated, but it was a lunch rush. I have always liked their open kitchen concept in the middle. Watching the cooks and staff running around is a nice distraction during the wait and the tunes playing in the background help take you back in time. I always remembered their burgers being a tad greasy and my memory was correct. Their typical burger patties are around 3oz each, the onion rings and bacon made the burger a bit of a project to eat. Their fries were always decent. The petal sauce on the lettuce/top half of the roll was tangy and thick like a dressing. Overall I thought the burger was decent and filling. The grease has always kept their burgers from greatness in my humble opinion. Grease was in back in the 50's right? The burger and fries were around $10. We first went to Nifty Fifty's...over 35 years ago?...and I'm pleased to report it's much more like it always was than different, which is good. You don't get enormous burgers but they're more like burgers used to be before fast food and fast casual took over the burger space, and that's fine. The spicy cheese fries are still the lovable cholesterol-laden delicious treat I remembered. The chili is still bland but tasty. The shakes are still great. The 'hiya hon' service has survived and is being administered by the third generation, at least, of servers. And it's also an impossibly crowded and hard to navigate parking lot, you probably will have to wait to get in, and the booths, while the same size they always were, seem to have gotten more cramped. (Maybe because I ate too many Nifty Fifty's burgers back in the day instead of exercising and eating kale.) This was always the downside of coming here, and it's also exactly the same. We alas did not have a chance to get breakfast, which I remember as more laid-back, but we had a good time talking with random strangers, which is always lovely. Nifty's is a safe space; it's almost meta-nostalgia now, but unlike most such places, this one has withstood the test of time and remains true to its basic character. read more

Surprised how affordable the prices here were! Total bill for our 4 items (two double stacked burgers, fries, iced tea) was only $22. The Texas Ringer was full of flavor and well cooked. The onion rings were crispy! Sauce complimented the burger well. Turkey cheeseburger was also a solid choice. It looks like they skimped on the cheese, but there was another slice in between the two patties. Cheese fries had a TON of wiz (better than being cheated with not enough)! Parking is horrible and tight and every second I was afraid someone would back into my car in the small lot. There is a line by the front entrance to sit to eat. My whole basket was greasy which made it visually unappealing. Had a small order of fresh fries which were very tasty. It was big enough to feed all 4 of us so I can only imagine the large bowl. Ordered a diet coke and it tasted very off/different. Then I noticed the signs that said "Nifty Cola" so I guess they have their own soda. I asked the waitress if it was diet coke. She said YES!
