The food is good. But I think this place is starting to test my patience on the portion sizes and the prices. The ultimate breakfast came with pancakes or French toast, two eggs and a protein. There is a smaller combo that basically is the same size. I could've sworn in previous months or years that they also would give you toast and fruit or home fries on top of it. That would really make it the ultimate breakfast. But the portion size was a lot to be desired. I have the corned beef hash, which was OK, and it was not too salty, which I feared. However, I think they were using a lot more potatoes and only a little bit of corned beef which made it a little bit of a letdown. The service was pretty good and the ambience was as good as I remember. They got rid of the bocce ball in the front in order to have more tables outside. Time to try some other places. read more

Brunch with our dinner club. One of our group grew up in the area. Parking is tight but you can also park across the street in the Bank. It was 10am on a Sunday. The place is clearly a popular local spot as it was crowded when we entered. We had a reservation so were escorted to a table for 8 at the back corner of the place. The Tony Soprano table. Service was prompt and friendly. Ambiance is local eatery many families and kids were in attendance there is also a small bar on the left as you enter. This time I went with coworkers and tried the special blackened chicken salad for $20 (not as painful when I'm not paying). Not to be too nitpicky but the chicken was more just Cajun flavor and not really blackened. Maybe I don't really know the difference but didn't care for that Cajun seasoning. Me and my family have been going here for years and the past few times have been very disappointing, especially today. The servers seem miserable, the food is way too overpriced, and the manager is mean. $12 for a coffee is criminal. And the $6 latte I did get was the size of like 3 sips. Not to mention they messed up our food and our server gave it to us without even thinking to check the accuracy. Added bonus, flies everywhere landing on your food and drinks. It's unassuming outside but cute and very nice inside with great decor and great service as well. It was busy with good turnover time without feeling rushed at all. All of our meals were delicious. The reputation is deserved. After a mediocre dinner the night before, my top tier chums and I needed a comeback for breakfast. I noticed this highly rated establishment not too far from our Airbnb, and that was that. Cafe Seventy Two is on a pretty busy thoroughfare and easy to spot. We stopped by shortly after they opened (that was also a consideration - we looked at a few places in Lambertville but we're unapologetic early birds so if you're not opening your restaurant before 9AM dot dot dot), secured both a parking spot right by the entrance and a table inside quickly. They did have a pleasant looking outdoor area in front too, but the siren song of air conditioning was too strong on this particular morning. I saw no reason to get cute, and went with my favorite breakfast entrée, the classic Eggs Benedict. Delicious and hit the spot in a way that only happens if you were a bit naughty the prior day with a few birthday cocktails. There was honestly nothing that truly set this apart from the myriad of Benedicts on brunch menus throughout the lands, but it didn't have to be particularly complicated - it was dictionary definition perfection. The home fries that accompanied the dish were excellent as well. At $13, the price point is competitive for the area (especially taking into consideration the Delaware River tourist traps just to the north). We also continued our breakfast tradition and strategically ordered something sweet to share. This time we selected an option from the specials menu, the lemon ricotta donut holes, which I believe came with a blueberry compote or close to it. Absolutely awesome. Optics-wise we were initially a little confused (I think we were all expecting something more yellow befitting the lemon designation), but once we bit into the donuts, everything made sense. I imagine the key to this item is not overcooking/frying (however donuts are magically prepared for us), and these definitely were not. The texture was excellent, and the compote paired perfectly. Unsurprisingly, the service was fantastic as well. Our waitress was friendly and attentive, and everything we ordered came out in a timely fashion. We weren't in a rush, but we were still in and out of there pretty quickly. It was starting to fill up a bit as we left, so we may have also been the beneficiaries of an early mealtime. If you can't wait an extra hour or two to feast on the weekend (or even if you can), this is a strong recommend. read more

The funnel care fries are so such a treat but shareable because I had to leave 1/2 behind which felt like a crime. I came to Cafe Seventy Two for lunch with a few colleagues from work. We were all pleasantly surprised by how many options were on the menu. We started with the Funnel Cake Fries, and they were amazing. Definitely a highlight. For my main, I ordered the Falafel Lettuce Wraps. They were just okay. There were only three wraps, and they were pretty difficult to eat. The flavor was also a bit bland, so I ended up adding a lot of sriracha to give it more of a kick. If I could go back, I'd probably choose something more traditional like pancakes or avocado toast. It's not a bad spot if you're in the area and want a quick lunch, but I'd stick with the more classic dishes next time. read more
