I loved Primo ....and then I didn't love it ....and then ....they closed for a little bit and when they opened up that front door again, everything was perfect I don't know what magic they used, but they take orders over the phone and don't miss a detail. This was not true before .....ordering over the phone was a nightmare. And just before it closed, it had all it's little rumblings of problems and if you're a loyal customer of a business, you can see a decline or improvement and I could definitely see the decline here, but.... NOW I see how it has emerged as a fantastic sandwich place unlike anything else around here.... so even if you have other sandwich places you like.... you have to also like this one ....because nothing else is like it! You go in and they say hi ....everybody's laughing...There's lots of people interacting... a giant menu, which is fantastic and on the wall. Came here for lunch. It is right by the hotel I am staying and wanted an easy lunch. It's in a little strip plaza less than a mile away. Asked the girl at the counter what she recommends. She said any of the Italians are good. Then she expanded that and said the rest was good too. I got the mild Italian. Got everything but no onions. Waited. Bout 10 mins then went back to the hotel. You can eat there but I chose not to. Nothing wrong with it. It's for a few tables and you can eat in. I opened it up. Smelled good and took a bit it was delicious. This sub was fantastic. Bread hearty but not too hard. Meat tender, peppers, lettuce and tomato just enough to complement the meat. Same with dressing. I got a small which was big but maybe I should have the medium. It was gone too soon. I'd get this again in a minute. It was so good! I'd travel for it. That's how good. If I'm ever around here again I'll try something else. read more

I absolutely LOVE Primo Hoagies! They bake their bread right there fresh on the premises every morning. So, its never stale, hard or tasting like it just came out of plastic wrapping off of a truck. The bread is delicious, fresh and has sesame seeds. The meats are fresh and they provide a hearty helping and you have your choice of fresh toppings There are 3 sizes: 6 inch, 9 inch or 2 feet. There are also potato chips and soda to round out your meal. I ended up ordering a 9 inch Ham & Provolone Cheese with banana peppers, extra pickles, extra oil & vinegar and salt, pepper & oregano. Just when I think this place can't sink any lower, they proved me wrong last night when I wanted to make a take-out order of one of their hoagies due to the $3 off a Primo-sized hoagie. I walked in around 6:45PM or so. There was no one in the place. I saw a Primo worker having an intense conversation with someone at one of the tables, but thought nothing of it. He might have been the Manager, the Owner, or just one of their workers...I just don't know. After I ordered, I sat down to wait at another table. I always bring a magazine with me to read, so I started reading it. And I was waiting, and waiting, and waiting. I'd say for about 10 minutes or so. I started to ask myself what was going on? Around this time, the Primos worker finally stopped talking. I stood up from my table, about to ask where my hoagie was, when the guy turns to me and says something like, "Sorry. I was talking to someone. I'll slice your meats right now." So, if you're paying attention, I realized that the other people were unable to dress my sandwich until this guy sliced the meats. The problem was, he decided that having an intense conversation with someone for more than 10 minutes (maybe longer, since he was already talking when I got there), was more important than a customer. Placed an Online Order for one Sub and was given a pick up time of 12:12pm. I arrived at 12:14pm, there was a sign on the door that said "NO WALK INS UNTIL AFTER 12 NOON" When I walked in the place was packed with customers just standing around. The employees were working on what appeared to be a large catering order. Online orders were being ignored. When I inquired about my order I was given attitude by what I can assume was a Manager. He barked at me "I have been here since 2am in the morning, sorry I did not update the website with the correct wait time" Seriously???? I did not get my order until 12:38pm HORENDOUS!!!!!!! Excellent hoagies! Very flavorful. The location is conveniently located near the airport in Ewing. The have a large menu and lots of catering options as well. We have ordered their party trays for parties before and they were a hit (they actually individually wrapped each sandwich in a platter during COVID for no extra charge). If you go on Wednesdays they usually have their $2 off primo hoagie deals FYI. Their bread (primo sized ) has sesame seeds incase you have an allergy but their smaller size does not. Their bread does tend to be crispier and hold up better than other sub shops. Their Italians have many options and is very yummy, definitely recommend! read more

I had the most unbelievable sandwich and I will forever be an Abruzzi fan! Amanda & Tim have the most unbelievable sandwich shop located in Ewing. This hidden gem is tucked into a shopping center, and you better get there early before the lunch hour rush since this place is packed! Such friendly people and a huge assortment of sandwiches. I stepped out of my ham and swiss comfort zone and decided to try something new. Never had pork with broccoli rabe but I saw it on a food show once. When I saw it on the menu, I had to try. The flavors are unbelievable! The provolone gives the garlic in the broccoli rabe a taste punch! Tastes even better lightly warmed! Great food, a wonderful staff and now I'm a customer for life! COVID-19 TAKEOUT REVIEW These are the times that try our souls. To grab a break from constant at home dining, at least two or three times a week we pick up takeout meals from either a place we haven't tried before, but has been bookmarked for a long time, or an old reliable that for some inexplicable reason had dropped out of the rotation. So it was with Primo Hoagies in the Glen Roc Center near Trenton-Mercer Airport in Ewing, NJ. Nothing like a premium submarine sandwich on a fresh sesame seeded torpedo roll to pleasure and comfort a weary heart. And, Primo, the former Italian deli out of Philly that is now an expansive regional franchise, knows how to bring that iconic satisfying experience home. We ordered over the phone for curbside pickup and sent the 19 year old who is spending the rest of his college freshman year at home out to secure it. Ordering a Turkey Schwartzie (sliced roast turkey, Swiss, lettuce, tomato, sweet pepper relish and mayo), Corned Beef Schwartzie, and traditional Roast Beef & Provo Hoagalone, at $10 per, we actually had enough for two meals after cutting them into quarters and mix/match sharing. Our separately purchased bag of uber crisp & spicy Herr's Jalapeno Potato Chips were the perfect counterpoint to the soft semi sweetness of the sandwiches. And, an outstanding mention is demanded for the wonderful bread encapsulating the quality ingredients. Those babies were so delicious with sesame seeds generously spread atop each creation that I could easily have been happy with just them and a shmear of butter. So good! As we sat devouring dinner at the kitchen table we were able to forget the seeming war zone coronavirus had turned out peaceful community into for a few minutes and talk of normal things like before this disease ended our innocence. Great sandwiches, convenient location, not too crowded, and a really great rewards program! There are plenty of locations all around the Philadelphia region. Although it's located in a kind of dead-looking plaza, this location is a nice one. One of the pluses of this location is that there's plenty of parking. It's pretty nice inside too, with lots of seating. Like any Primo location, they serve up the same delicious sandwiches for reasonable prices, and they bring them out quickly. I work nearby and on occasion the office orders from this place (normally when a staff meeting is poorly coordinated and inconvenient for all parties involved). I'd never eaten from this place before but n this day however, I actually came here because my usual sandwich place closes at 3pm. I knew it was in the complex although I wasn't sure where but soon found it. Beyond the small bank and right next to the toy train store sits the Primo Hoagie of Scotch Road. I entered and grabbed a menu from the counter after be greeted by two employees. So far so good. I saw that they had a deal posted but was probably trying hard to satiate the craving of turkey and provolone more so than trying to get a deal. I couldn't find the simple sandwich on the menu so I order by ingredient - Turkey and provolone with lettuce, tomato, onion, salt pepper oregano, oil and vinegar. And mayo. Mayo was an after thought but I recalled a coworker ordering and being surprised that the sandwich hadn't come with it automatically. I nabbed a bag of chips and one of those giant cookies under the sign that read "All of our cookies have nuts" which probably meant they were made in a facility that processes nuts because my chocolate chip had no nuts (bummer). Anyway, opted for no drink, added the work number to the Primo Perks list (that's not really what its call I don't think) and when my food saw bagged and tagged I went back to work. I knew to expect the seeded hoagie roll although I wasn't offered the choice - this is fine by me, I'm not complaining but for a Primo newbie this might have been a shocker. The sandwich was meh, not bad but definitely not worth the price. It was made well and not soggy (gotta love that) wasn't bursting at the seam from day old bread (looking at you Quick Chek) and the service was down right pleasant! It really wasn't bad, just not worth the price for this particular sandwich. Perhaps had I gotten one of there noteable fancy named subs ( I say hoagie because I live here now, but I'm from where these are called Subs) I would have given it 4 stars. All in all, not a bad place to go if your a Primo Hoagie lover with an extra dollar or two to spend on the same thing you'd get down the street for half the price. I can't guarantee that I'd be back but please don't interpret my personal experience on this very public forum as an attempt to slander this business or dissuade people from trying them. Came here while driving around Ewing today and enjoyed my food. I ended up getting the Italian Diablo (a spicy version of an Italian sub) and it wasn't bad! Not the absolute best Italian sub I've ever had, but it got the job done. The service was efficient and polite, and it was easy to find parking in the strip mall. The menu is exactly what you want out of an Italian sub shop. So extensive that it took me a while to make a decision. Great bread, great flavors, great. When we went in mid afternoon, there was nobody in the place and they were super nice and prompt with our order. My wife's sandwich looked and she said it tasted awesome. This is a great business. I know it's a chain but it's run like a small business. The staff always remembers me. Stephanie, the manager, is great and so is the owner. I ordered a catering order for my office and I added something last minute and they were able to do it. At the event, everyone noticed the napkins and plates and I heard multiple times, "Oh, you got us Primos!" Only the best people, only the best. I placed an order on line was told a time for pick up went to pick up at that time and was told they are working on my order, so after order on line and being on time to pick up my order they had me wait another 30 minutes for two sandwiches. And then the other day i figured i give them another shot, went to call them to place an order girl who answers phone says sorry can not take your order our computers are down, whatever happened to writing an order down. Greek gods do exist and I found out that Hermes (Messenger of the Gods) got a second job here. A fellow co-worker and myself ordered lunch here in the mood for a good sandwich. We called at 11:50 AM, what I consider to be busy ordering time, and they said they would be here in 20 minutes. I couldn't believe they got here that quick. Whoever runs that place does a great job. I ordered the Old Style Meatball Parm with Broccoli Rabe. It was a great, hearty, and tasty sandwich. My co-worker always gets their Sharp Italian. He says it is a great sandwich as well. Most people say they have not had a bad sandwich here, and they are right. We tried their dirt pudding which my boss says is great. I was not feeling it though. On a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being my aunt's dirt pudding. I would give Primo's a 3. Sweet, smooth but nothing compared to the best I have had. read more

So if you have a had a Primo hoagie you know how good they are. The great quality and loads of meat. The spices. The fresh awesome bread. They are just simply some of the best hoagies around. All Primo's usually have the tables and great beverage selection. This one is no different. I will admit though I tend to like the subs coming from this Primo more than my local Primo at home. Quality is always top notch but most impressive is the speed in which they turn around your sandwich at lunch time. Its amazing. Sometimes I will get a hot buffalo chicken sandwich and its done in no-time at all. Go to some other Primos and it will take 5-10 minutes at least. All Primos are generally good (I did hit a bad one one time in South Jersey). But this one is top notch. read more

The sandwiches are fast; you only have to wait about ten minutes or so even during lunch rush hour. And did I mention cheap?! The small sandwich is only like $5 and change. I would highly recommend the small versus the primo size unless you plan to save half and eat it later. The primo is ginormous although on the sign its looks close to a 6 inch. Trickery I say!
