Amazing burgers and fries cooked to perfection and very juicy (I like it rare and it was awesome). Great prices too for burgers with premium topping at no additional charge. Our wait staff, Erin and Coin were super engaged with all the patrons and exceptionally attentive...they made it a fun atmosphere and served our food/drinks at lightening speed. And my cocktail was beyond AMAZING! So if you're staying at the Clarion or are in the neighborhood don't hesitate to stop by and see Erin and Coin! You won't regret it! read more

I don't get paid to write reviews--I do it to be fair. I grew up around a family restaurant, so I know how tough this business is. If I leave a bad review, there's a real reason. This is one of those times. With the inaugural cruise out of Philadelphia, hundreds of people were staying at the Clarion Hotel and planning to eat and drink here. This wasn't a surprise. They had weeks to prepare. They had one waitress. One bartender. We walked in before 5 PM, got told to wait, then told to seat ourselves. Found the only open table--it was dirty. Sat there for a while with no service and eventually just left. Never even got to try the food. Big crowd, guaranteed business, and they weren't ready. That's the bottom line. read more

I rarely leave negative feedback, but the operational failures at this establishment require documentation. The total time elapsed from entering to receiving our entrees was well over two hours (20-minute seating delay, 35-minute ordering delay, and a 75-minute kitchen delay). Unfortunately, the product quality did not justify the wait, as the dishes were excessively oily and unpalatable. Furthermore, morale appears to be nonexistent; the floor staff actively avoided table management, prompting several guests to abandon their meals. Management needs to immediately address staff training and accountability, as the current team is a liability to the brand. I will not be returning. read more

Awful. We arrived at 6 looked at a menu were enjoying some drinks we asked about food and were told the menu continued till 8:30. We tried to order at 7:50 and were refused service because the "chef" refused to cook the menu. I've never had a bartender refuse service 40 prior to the kitchen switching to the late night menus. We even specifically told him we were planing on ordering later and he did nothing nor did he tell us the "chef" was closing early. We came here after a drive down from northern Pennsylvania and having hung out in the asian side of Philly.. We wanted to imbibe in some beverages without having to worry about a DD as our rooms were upstairs. I believe it was Leslie behind the bar (forgive me if I got your name wrong and you're reading this), she was absolutely great! Super attentive when we needed something, helped figure out our drinks as they ran out of the various liquor in the bottles, and gave us food ordering advice. We ended up getting the pretzels and mashed potatoes.. yes, yes, a weird combination to order in the bar.. but WOW, soo good. Yes, mashed potatoes can come out poorly, and they can be magical, and these were pretty dang magical. The pretzels were hot and fresh as well, paired with the cheese and the tangy mustard = heaven. Maybe we were hungry, maybe we were drunk, but both the service, food, and company was good.. what more could you want? read more

Restaurant is very inviting and trendy, especially in the bar area. I didn't have a sit down dinner, I chose to have takeout. The Classic cheeseburger with fries, was ok. I felt it needed more cheese and the toppings to be more fresher. Also ordered the Philly cheese steak. Again it was ok, but it fell short due to the dryness & the little bit of cheese you get. My wife ordered the chicken and beet salad. Wilted leaves and not so great blue cheese. Would I eat here again? Yes, if I didn't have other choices. It's still a good place to eat, it just isn't a wow type of place for food. read more

I've come to this place several times. Each time it gets worse and worse. On this visit, I walked in to no hostess as usual. There were several other people standing at the front waiting for service as well. Two waiters/workers walked around and saw all of us, yet they didn't stop to provide seating or take to go orders. I decided to head to the bar instead in hopes of getting faster service. I was mistaken. I sat at the bar waiting for a few minutes and then Michelle the bartender whizzed by saying she will be right with me and dashed back to the end of the bar where a large group was sitting. After a few more minutes she returned asking if I wanted a drink. I informed I will decide that in a few, but would need a menu first. She provided me with a "Late Night Menu" which had limited items on it. It was only 9 PM when I was in the bar....on a Saturday.... holiday weekend. Another 15-20 minutes passed before she returned asking if I wanted anything. I placed an order of a cheeseburger with fries and a sweet tea. The food came out in a decent amount of time. The fries were good, the burger was just plain. Even though it had pepper Jack cheese, lettuce, and tomato on it...it didnt have a memorable taste. The sweet tea tasted like Limpton tea from a can. I even had to ask for mayo which she gave a bottle of it to me. She only checked on me once after that. Even though she spent more time with the group at the end of the bar far more than any other patron at the bar. Pete had come to relieve her for about 15 minutes and he checked on everyone at the bar at least twice in that period. A whole lot better than Michelle. Between the bad service and plain food... I would have been better off getting GrubHub or walking to the diner up the road. read more

Still a complete winner in my book and always on point when I am staying before or after work near the airport in Philadelphia. The staff here is friendly and courteous.. even when they are busy or dealing with a multitude of disgruntled airline passengers who have been over nighted here and have opted to belly up at the bar and complain over and over about how said airlines screwed them over . Or the business person who had too much ; or the partying wedding guests left over from the ballroom! Steve and Leslie, in particular, are my very favorites. I've been staying here as my home away from home and using The Red Fire Grill as my kitchen/hangout/social place for almost four years while I've been working in and out of PHL; these two deserve awards for the patience and calm demeanor they have at times! The things that people complain about or do to those that work in the service industry blows my mind and I have witnessed my share here. Even I put them thru the paces with my requests of going off the menu almost every time I order a meal here. I will say the way I have constructed their basic grilled cheese though is heaven to my mouth and fast became a treat I had to stop ordering every time I was here... my jeans were getting tight! So, guess what.. I then took the BBQ Grilled Sandwich and requested this be done and that be deleted too. NOT once have either of them given me grief. That grilled cheese though should be placed on the menu : all three cheeses (cheddar;muenster ; provolone ); bacon;tomato and a slice of ham .. at $12, it's a little steep without including fries ($2 extra), compared to other places I've had gourmet grilled cheese, but, I don't complain because they always treat people and me so well.. never missing a beat. Usually they have my wine poured by the time I sit down and my water and lemon soon thereafter! I then stare at the menu for a good hour trying to decide between being healthy on this trip or doing the usual. Despite knowing the menu by heart by now. I would love to see daily specials that aren't offered on the regular menu both for dinner and for happy hour eats and for a small time, they were doing that. It's a decent menu but it would be great to change it up a little from time to time. The happy hour is ample running from 1600-1900 with drink/beer/wine and appetizer specials. About once a month there is also a managers reception with heavy apps and a comp'd drink. The Red Fire Grill is clean; friendly; solid with decent food and where I feel safe.. that's very important in my line of work. Btw, I've stayed in several of the PHL airport hotels due to my career, and even if you 'think' you are getting a better 'brand' of hotel , the restaurant isn't always that awesome.. Very laid back hotel restaurant with a very great menu! Dined here twice in the weekend and really loved the steak salad. The chard lettuce was perfect and very tasty. I must say I was a bit skeptical because of online hotel reviews but my mom and I had an awesome meal. We were given vouchers so we went ahead and used them, and I'm so glad we did. I don't have pics because I was starving- but I had chicken quesadillas which were good and crispy and hot. My mom had a cheeseburger. Their new menu is great. The Italiana flatbread as a starter was awesome. The New York strip was incredible. I ordered it well done and it was still tender and juicy, with so much flavor. The vegetables were amazing as well. My mom had the crab cakes with mashed potatoes and veggies. She thought the crab cakes were the best she has ever had. She also raved about the mashed potatoes and veggies. My nephew had the crab cake burger with onion rings. He thought the crab cake was amazing and the onion rings as well. I should have known that I wouldn't have a good experience when we walked in and people were sitting at a table and complaining at their table. Meanwhile, a manager and waitress were discussing a party's displeasure with their meal. Luckily we had a pretty great waitress named, Lynette! Other than her service, and willingness to accommodate our group of eleven, I would not come back here. There is a draft of cold air coming into the restaurant. They incorrectly cooked several people with our party's food. The soups for the day were stopped at 9:30pm (after an order was taken for 2 chicken noodle soups). The smell of cigarettes permeated the restaurant. It was enjoyable especially while trying to have dinner! The entire table had their food before I even received mine! Had the worst Thanksgiving dinner ever at this place inside the Philadelphia Airport Clarion. Underwhelming selection and variety of entrees and sides. Food itself tasted awful. Service was almost non-existent, which wouldn't be that bad at a buffet, except that they charged a 20% gratuity. CHANGES are afoot at this establishment. It's inside the Clarion hotel on industrial highway in Essington near Philadelphia International Airport. I was informed of a good happy hour on food and beverages on my way to the hotel. Unfortunately, I found out at the restaurant that their management has recently changed their happy hour policy from half off appetizers to the same deal, except you get HALF the portion. Meanwhile, neither the menu nor servers will supply you with this information. Additionally, the quesadilla is pre-made and frozen. I asked for one without onions and the server said it was impossible. I'm not one to make a fuss but this experience was mind boggling. The manager approved another meal for me after I complained. They were sure to give me a smaller burger than the person I ate with and at least half the fries that he was given. Honestly, I have no problem with a restaurant changing their menu. The "lettuce wraps" consisted of some chopped up chicken on 3 pcs of romaine and the chicken on my salad seemed like someone fell asleep after they threw it on the grill. Stay at the clarion hotel twice a year before we fly out for vacation. We always eat at the red fire . We sit in the bar area. Michelle has been are bartender the last few times we were here she is so good at her job. She was very busy last Saturday when we saw her. But the did not stop her from being very attentive & really taking care of us . The food & drinks were great. The Waitress lynette was very friendly as well as our bartender michelle.
