Very Disappointed -- We Won't Be Returning…read more This place used to be one of our favorites, but unfortunately, things have really gone downhill since the refurbishment. The menu has changed, the portions are noticeably smaller, and the prices have gone way up. I don't mind paying for good food, but I do expect the food and experience to justify the price. This is starting to feel like the prices of the downtown tourist spots, as if they think we're in Fredericksburg. Most of the people who live here are hardworking, middle-class families. We don't mind spending money, but we shouldn't have to pay premium prices for smaller portions simply because a restaurant has a Main Street view. Sadly, this used to be a favorite of ours. It isn't anymore, and we won't be returning. Start looking at why places are closing down, because you're NOT getting community support! I wonder why? I would like to say that the service has always been good it's just the prices and how they charge for everything separately now.. nope!

Get there early, though 'cause I think they're usually sold out by around noon. I also tried a kolache here for the first time and loved it, but be prepared for DOUGHY if that's your jam. Pun possibly intended. I don't drink coffee, so I can't speak to that, but the bakery is inside Meridian, which is worth a visit on its own. They have a tincture wall, and the bar next door actually uses some of them in mocktails. I've had one and really enjoyed it. Meridian also has a really nice selection of quality gifts. I've got my eye on the pillows in the back, and after my last visit I'm also tempted by one of the comfy-looking dresses. There's plenty of seating next door too, where I try to make it regularly for the free Tuesday comedy night. Five stars for that cheese danish alone. Just don't sleep in.

It's located inside a nice gift shop, which made browsing fun. Service was quick. A few minor tweaks on the pastry temps and this place would easily be a five-star spot!

Taste on Main was best rated and the menu sounded intriguing. We arrived 45 minutes early, and the Maître D' graciously found us a table even though we expressed our willingness to wait. Our server knew the menu well, and the food flowed with perfect timing. The ambiance of a remodelled historic building with modern functionality was both relaxing and refreshing. We were especially pleased with our four telephone calls before hand to the manager about seating if it rained, reservations, and parking. Emily answered each call and was so helpful, and it is a nice touch that the manager interacts directly with the patrons. Each food item was excellent: 1) Mixed Greens Salad (mixed greens, seasonal fruit, candied pecans, manchego cheese, crispy shallots, red wine vinaigrette); 2) Cioppino (clams, mussels, shrimp, fish, calamari, arrabiata-fish brodo, foccacia); 3) 5 oz MTX Petite Filet; 4) Dulce De Leche Crème Brûlée (caramelized dulce de leche base topped with a crackly, burnt sugar shell)

And I paid $250 FOR THE WORST MEAL I HAVE EVER HAD! Place was cool. People were nice. But very unorganized. All the food was . Bland. Undercooked. Disappointing. Drinks were so bad. Old fashioned was the worst I have ever had. the worst. Wine was no better than 2 buck chuck. Basically tasted like old fermented juice. Let's go item by item shall we. Calamari - so bland and chewy. Supporting sauces were underwhelming. Tuna tartare - bitter. Sour. Flavorless. The buttered bread that came with it was the best part and didn't even go well. Try a cracker. Cesar salad - why in the hell would you put salt and vinegar potato chips in this. SERIOUSLY. Red snapper - chewy and over cooked. Steak filet - soooooooo bland. Brussels sprouts - oddly ok. Just a little undercooked. Potato's - the most UNDERCOOKED thing I have ever seen. It was like a blind grandma who smoked all her life tried to peel and cook potatoes while tossing cheese on it. No joke we could not get out of there quick enough. Literally pulled through a drive through right after and spent 15$ on tacos and had a much better meal. DO BETTER.

We want to share that every time we've come in, we've had such a wonderful experience. I'm so sorry this is coming a month & half after we visited but it's been a little crazy lately. Not sure if you remember us but my husband Tim who's a desert storm combat veteran tanker has stage 4 cancer & isn't doing very well. We stopped in after a radiation appointment & Tim wasn't able to eat unfortunately but luckily for us, we had such an amazing server! First off, YOU are an amazing manager! We've never met a manager that cares enough to go to each table to say hi & see how their experience is going... TOP NOTCH!! Being a vegetarian, this is my go to place with ALL the vegetarian/vegan options! Amazing! We were both exhausted & drained, we had just come from radiation, **Tim was ill & not feeling good at all so we apologized to her right off the bat, so she didn't think we were rude... We had such an EXCEPTIONAL experience with Soph S & had to tell you about her! She went above & beyond to serve us with PURE KINDNESS! She was aware of Tim's situation and did everything possible to make him comfortable. She surely didn't have to do anything out of the ordinary, but she did! She talked to us, listened to Tim's story & had so much empathy! Tim & I were both crying when we left because it was so unexpected! She shared with us that cancer was in her family as well, so she wanted to make Tim feel good. We are 1000% so APPRECITATIVE for her & her kindness towards us both. What an absolutely AMAZING soul she has. Thank YOU for employing employees like Soph S. We are beyond grateful for her & our experience there that day! I attached a picture of us & our receipt with the details from our visit & again sorry it's been a month & a half... Have a wonderful day! Kim Covaleda & Tim Maw

The pumpkin cold brew was nicely balanced and not overly sweet, though the pumpkin flavor was subtle. The benedict was pretty standard but flavorful, and I really enjoyed the crispy potatoes. The harvest hash was well-seasoned, though I'm not a fan of Brussels sprouts. The waffle had a mild pumpkin flavor not overly sweet which I liked.
