Delicious Detroit style pizza with scrumptious toppings and soft yet crunchy crust! We love leftovers so even with just the 2 of us we got 2 orders of the 8 piece pie. First one half and half Margherita and BBQ chicken, and the 2nd one Contradiction with Super Deluxe. I'm looking back at my Yelp pictures and I'm drooling again. We couldn't wait and decided to just dine in. They do have 3 small tables and self-serve water. The owner also gave us plates and utensils. My favorite is the BBQ chicken because I never say no to BBQ sauce. There's a whole slice of tomato on each slice of the Margherita pizza. Contradiction has BBQ Chicken, Bacon, Jalapenos, Pineapple, Fresh Cilantro, BBQ Sauce. The Super deluxe comes with Mushrooms, Green Peppers, White Onion, Ham, Peperoni. Finally got to try this place! I've called twice previously on a Sunday (around 5/6pm) and was told both times that they were out of pizza for the day (hence -1 star). However, I decided to call around noon on a Saturday and they had pizzas (woot woot!). We decided to try the double pepperoni and the bbq pizza. They both had their own unique flavors and complemented each other well (pep was saltier while bbq was a little sweet with a kick). If you're feeling like you're craving a doughy pizza, this is definitely the style for you. I personally needed crushed red pepper and some ranch to get through the dough, which I didn't mind, but this is something you can eat only once in a while imo. (Or when you're craving it of course). I love pizza and this pizza is seriously good. I would say it's on the saucier side and the sauce is good. The "crust " is good and has a nice texture with some burnt cheese on the sides. I work around the corner, but don't eat pizza for lunch very often. It looked like they had a warmer for slices,but they weren't selling slices only whole pizzas. The small pizza was four pieces and I only ate three. A perfect lunch for me would be two slices and a salad so I hope this place gets a little busier so they might start doing that. This is my #1 favorite pizza, period. It is detroit style pizza that is like a rectangular pan pizza, but it is very light and airy, not heavy like others I have had. The edge is super crispy but not hard. The flavors are satisfying and they weren't stingy on toppings. This place is really good. I saw recommendations and thought it might be overhyped. The pictures look great. I tried a plain cheese pizza and it was very good. Not disappointed at all. Crust was soft and bready, like pizza hut. The cheese was gooey on top and salty and crunchy on the edge. Basically taste exactly like what you would guess looking at the pictures. Satisfied. PIC is from Michigan and often complains because he can't find good Detroit style pizza in L.A. When I heard about Fuji & Vis I told him we should give it a try. He checked the photos on YELP and said, "Well, it looks right. I'm willing to try it." We placed an order for pickup and when we arrived the pie was just coming out of the oven. It was still warm when we got home. It looked and smelled delicious. Plenty of gooey cheese, perfectly melted, and crusty on the side, like a good Detroit Pizza should be. The thick tomato sauce on top had a nice flavor. I loved the caramelized crispy cooked cheese on the sides of the crust. The crust was thick and chewy and had a nice buttery flavor. We also got the Caesar salad. The romaine was crisp and fresh. It was topped with crunchy croutons and shredded parmesan. The dressing was also good. When it came time for the final verdict PIC said, "It isn't Jets and it ain't Buddy's but it's the best Detroit pizza you're going to find in L.A." This pizza crust that takes hours from start to finish, is the addicting base for this Detroit style pizza. And the way the cheese gets crispy along the edges... yum! Came for takeout and the service was very nice. The vibe of the restaurant gave a cute vibe as well as a Detroit vibe with the jazz music and decorations (didn't take a picture sorry!) Found this place here on yelp, looking for a spot to go to dinner. We wanted something we could take back to our hotel to eat outside on a mezzanine area and enjoy the weather. Very little street parking but we found if you dive up the middle of the building to the roof there was plenty of parking up there. Very odd. As someone who doesn't really like Detroit-style pizza, I was pleasantly surprised by my experience at Fuji and Vi's. This pizza spot is tucked away on the second floor of small, discreet plaza near Old Town Pasadena so it can be hard to find as you're walking by. The edges of their pizzas are beautifully crisped and lacy from the melted cheese so each bite comes with a nice crunch to it. The crust is light and airy as any good pizza dough should be. Plus, it's never overly greasy, which can be an annoying factor whenever you opt to get pizza. The wait time is fair (~10-15 minutes) so keep that in mind if you choose to order in-person. But that's definitely a good sign because you know that taht means your pizza is coming out fresh. If you prefer a cozy setting, the interior offers the usual small pizzeria-style setting. Although, it's nothing special so I usually opt for takeout and enjoy my meal at home. Even after the 15-20 minute drive home, the pizza still maintains its structure really well (no sogginess, staleness, or loss of heat). Over my visits, I've had the chance to try three of their flavors. Let's start with the basic cheese pizza with pizza sauce. This is definitely my go-to choice. It strikes a good balance between salty and acidic and really hits the flavor notes of what a great pizza slice should be, but with a thicker crust and texture. Next up is the Spicy Italian. This particular flavor is similar to the cheese pizza, but comes with a sweeter and spicier profile. The spice level is fairly tame, making it a great option for those who like a sweeter pizza at the expense of a little heat. While the first two flavors were great, the BBQ Chicken fell a bit short of expectations. Although the bread is good as usual, the BBQ sauce and chicken don't really set themselves apart like the other flavors do. Nevertheless, it's still a decent choice if you're craving that type of pizza. Lastly, parking is usually available right in front of the restaurant, so that's really convenient. You can park, order, and leave super easily. Fuji & Vi's hasn't completely won me over to liking Detroit-style pizza, but it has won me over as the only Detroit-style pizza spot I'll order from. read more

This place is so solid. We got two pizzas- The BBQ chicken and the original one with pepperoni and cheese. Woooooow. The crust is deep dish but has amazing crispy edges: the bottom is like a pan pizza. The cheese will caramelize into a beautiful crispy bite. A four square pizza actually could be shared between two people- as we were stuffed after two pieces each! They have a small indoor seating area, and it's clean and calm. Perusing Reddit one day under "Pasadena," the thread was "best pizza in Pasadena." Always an excellent subject, so let's see what the neighbors think... Lots of (actually) smart input, but Fuji & Vi's comes up with a lot of positive reviews. So what the heck. I'm all in! I took one of my many children there, and told her she could order any pizza, and I would order another, and, of course, we would keep the rest for the remaining children as leftovers (which as any parent knows, really means "the remainder will go to me, because I really don't like you kids that much"). Yes. It's good to be a dad. My baby got the barbecue chicken pizza, I got the biggio, which has about 95 different kinds of meat. Of course I'm gonna order that one. OK, I am a big Tarantino's on Green Street fan. I love that place, they continue to do a great job for a long time, always one of the family favorites. But this one has just moved up to a neck and neck position. The daughter is finicky, but she really liked it. I loved it, and, somehow, I managed to try both pizzas. Delicious. Fuji and Vi's is known for Detroit style Pizza. It's a small shop and bit hidden because it's on the 2nd floor so you won't see unless you look up a bit. It looked to me that most orders were take outs or delivery. FOOD 8 square pizza split of Spicy Italian and Santiglia. The pizza is thick, cheesy with a crispy crust all around. Spicy Italian- The sauce has a sweet taste so not a typical flavor for pizza. Santiglia- flavorful with a mix of salty and savory. SERVICE The lady who helped us was very sweet and the wait for the pizza was about 20 minutes. Be prepared to wait as pizza is made to order and takes a bit since the dough is thicker than the average pizza. PARKING Street parking and I think they have a small lot in the back. This part of Pasadena is easier to find parking. Go and give them a try since there isn't another place like this nearby! read more

There's only 3 tables inside the place, so mostly for takeout/delivery. Got the pepperoni, mushroom, and pineapple 4 slice. The crust is SO GOOD. I ate it over the course of 3 days, and it held up every single day as a leftover. Also tried the Caesar salad. That wasn't anything special. I ordered for takeout, and they put the dressing already mixed in the salad. Will have to ask for dressing on the side next time, since when it's mixed it leads to soggier salads. Fantastic small, new spot that opened in May 2022. Just found it online and wandered in. They are on the second floor across from that Indian restaurant and above Chamo's. Lovely Detroit style pizza! We ordered the 8 square Classic. A delicious pie with old world pepperoni, Parmesan, and thick tomato sauce. It was a true delight! Let's thank proprietor Michael for gifting us with wonderful homemade Detroit style pizza using his Nonna's recipe! The pizza was hot, cheesy, and delicious! First time customer. Had slight issues locating business initially, small dine in but if it's awesome pizza you're after, this is the place. I've a pizza connoisseur, eating my way across the US and overseas and prefer standard NY crust, but this... ah man was incredible. The side crust from the cheese, consistent flavor and evenness of the sauce was to die for. The pizza bread was heavenly, not over taxing most deep dish/pan (like Chicago style) takes on the jaw. The side of Caesar salad was a refreshing pairing to every other bite of of pizza. This pizza is definitely a winner and I'm making my drive back again soon from South OC.
