Baby Gem Caesar with salmon

I made reservation for Fuego for my fiancés birthday. I was looking for a nice breakfast place with a beautiful view and while the view was amazing, the restaurant itself left us wanting more. I will say, I should have read these reviews before hand because I would have changed mine mind. Buuuuut here we are lol For starters, I made reservations that seemed pointless. We got there, and told them about the reservations and they didn't know about them. Luckily for us, the place wasn't packed. We sat on their outside patio and it was a beautiful view of the ocean and Queen Mary. That was 10/10! We were given their menu and to our surprise, it was VERY LIMITED! So that was a bummer. I think at that point, I was ready to go. My fiancé was such a great sport about it though and we decided to stay and make the best of the situation. I will say, service was incredible. Everyone was super nice and that made staying worth it. We ordered the calamari for an appetizer, a caesar salad with chicken and one with salmon, and the steak with potatoes plate. My toddler wanted pancakes and our waitress was so accommodating and went to ask the cafe if they could make him some before closing. Thankfully they were able to and my toddler got his pancakes. The food was good, but nothing amazing. We were left underwhelmed and for such a perfect location, I wish they had more options. They did gift my fiancé a dessert for his bday. Churros and ice cream...soooo good! The place itself is stunning. It's such a fun vibe and I'd come back with my fiancé to have drinks and enjoy the view only.

Fuego has really upped its game since I last came several years ago! The space has been beautifully upgraded with a lovely lounge+beachy+ earthy decor. The patio is perfect for views and catching a breeze. While not a lot of selections for vegetarians, I did really enjoy the mushroom tacos. Cocktails were also well made. There was a great jazz band playing on the patio on Friday night. Even though there was a good crowd, the overall scene remained really relaxing and made for a perfect evening. Overall I'd highly recommend for the fantastic views, solid food and drinks, and excellent service- Laura was so friendly and helpful, and manager Michael was lovely and welcoming. You can get validated parking.

Parking is way too expensive. At one hr, your are ar 30$ and after 2 hrs you are at 50$ definitely no choice...so Uber or carpool. The menu is super limited, and i mean limited! 6 plates and 4 appetizers and a huge list of drinks. My family was very limited in what we ould be dining... prices are high. Ambiance was good, people were nice and dressed nicely. Staff was friendly - sofas near waterline somewhat dirty . Would have preferred better sofa cleanliness. The Ambiance was great scenery was very nice. Beyond, there are so many other options... next time I would just visit the queen Mary for all this time and it would have been cheaper better and more basically stunning. So if you ho here, go here because you have a hotel reservation... beyond that, definitely not worth the time nor energy max score 2.5 and thats because the scenery was very nice.

I was looking forward to trying Fuego because I wanted something different with a nice ocean view. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to have the full experience since the restaurant was doing a photo shoot while I was there, which made the atmosphere feel a little off. The ocean views are definitely beautiful and probably the highlight of the visit. The drinks were good, but nothing that really stood out. Based on the photos online, I expected a more exciting menu, but I ended up feeling a bit underwhelmed. I skipped ordering an entrée because the menu wasn't what I expected. Instead, I ordered a few appetizers, and they were pretty simple and lacked much flavor. The service was good, and the staff was friendly. It looked like there were only a couple of servers working, so I don't think the slower pace was their fault. Overall, I'd recommend Fuego if you're looking to grab a few beers, enjoy some appetizers, and relax with a great ocean view. If you're going mainly for the food, your experience may be different, but it didn't quite meet my expectations.

Fuego is Hotel Maya's restaurant. This review is for the cafe portion of the restaurant, which is the only part that is open early in the day. For the rest of the restaurant (which opens at 11am and offers a more extensive menu) I defer to other reviews. My family and I stayed in the hotel over the weekend and on an early Sunday morning (around 10am) I brought the kids here to give mom some much needed rest. I was immediately struck by the beautiful view - overlooking the Queensway Bay and the Long Beach waterfront. The restaurant is breezy, clean, and open, resembling a Mexican / Central American beach resort that the hotel themes itself around. I was quite surprised, however, to see a very abbreviated, expensive menu even at 10am, and the hardworking, amicable staff pulling small items from the refrigerator and heating them in a toaster oven. The overall picture was highly reminiscent of Starbucks, but with marginally higher quality and three times the price. I asked if anything was available that was made fresh, and the staff pointed out the main restaurant wouldn't open until 11am. We ordered the croissant sandwich ($18) and country toast ($13), and after 15 minutes for the sandwich and 25 minutes for the toast they arrived. While good, the croissant sandwich was definitely reheated, likely assembled from a number of components from a Sodexho catalog, the sausage patty definitely not homemade, and the egg a pre-made disc. No shells were cracked in the making of this one. The toast was attractive enough, but was not really toast at all - just bread with cheese and jam on top. It was good, but nothing extraordinary. While I'm deducting a point for the very long wait time for such simple, assembled food to reach us, the staff was excellent. They enjoyed greeting and playing with the children, helped with the stroller, and offered us a chocolate milk gratis after noting how long we were waiting for our simple order (with my children complaining about how famished they were). It's likely the lack of any competition in the area that keeps prices high and food quality low, but I can't help but think that some simple managerial decisions on hours and prices would make things much better. Despite fantastic staff I can't recommend Fuego's cafe. Perhaps the main restaurant would be better for a proper breakfast, but on a Sunday morning I'd expect it to open sooner. While the view is excellent, with middling food analogous to Starbucks and markedly elevated prices, if you're at the Maya I recommend you sleep in, or, better, hop across the Bay for superior options. Food: 3/5 Service: 4/5 Ambiance: 4.5/5 Value: 2/5

The view here is definitely 5 stars! Really nice atmosphere and a great spot to sit back and enjoy the scenery. The food was just okay, probably 3 stars at best. Nothing bad, but nothing that really stood out either. I'd come back for the view more than the food.

Today was a fail in so many ways. Let me start by saying that I've been here several times and all other times were great. Today however was a true disappointment! First I'll start with decor, they have updated the decor and it looks amazing! I loved the decor. Service was great ! I won't complain about that at all. The drinks were also fantastic, but very expensive! Food was just horrible!! The menu has very limited options. You either got a taco plate or some poke nachos. We came here for my in laws birthday. He was the only one who was happy with his meal. I got poke nachos with tuna that was chopped so small you tasted more chips than anything. There were 7 of us. 1 out of 7 is not ok. We did speak to the manager and he was great help. He did comp some items which we obviously appreciated it. I personally won't be back. Please note that the menu and food pictures attached to this app are no longer available. Food is not was it used to be. You'll leave dissatisfied if you dine here. 2 stars rating due to management and service . Otherwise it would have been 0

Second time come in here for dinner and the view is really nice. This place is on the upper side of pricey. And the menu is not that Big. But the food is OK. My only knock on this place is the seating. If you're planning out having dinner they will try to sit you on the fire pit, which is not a good place to have dinner. Just giving you a heads up. The House will try to sit here. Just talk to the servers and they will accommodate you better than he does.

I came to Maya Fuego on a packed Friday night, and when I say packed, I mean packed to the brim. It was a beautiful hot summer evening, the view was amazing, and I came solo because apparently no one wanted to have a steak with me . I was honestly pretty disappointed when I was told I wouldn't be able to wait for an outside table. Then Michael came through. He noticed I was by myself and saw an opportunity to fit me into a spot outside next to the band that apparently nobody else wanted. Since I was solo, he made it happen -- and that small gesture completely made my experience. That's what great hospitality is about. When there's an opportunity to make a customer happy without negatively affecting anyone else, you make it happen. Michael could have easily just left things as they were, but instead he paid attention, found a solution, and turned what started as a disappointing situation into an amazing Friday night. Sitting outside next to the band with the summer weather and the view ended up being exactly the experience I was hoping for. Michael, thank you so much. I genuinely appreciate what you did for me. Maya Fuego, this is most definitely the type of employee you want to keep around. Someone who sees an opportunity to make a guest's night better and actually takes it. Thank you again, Michael.

Fuego ambience was nice however the food was underwhelming and over priced and they automatically add 20% "service charge" for food and drinks. Service was nice and drinks were good but I won't be back

Long Beach is packed with incredible restaurants. Somehow, for my friend's birthday, we managed to find a dud. We made a reservation, mentioned on the phone that it was a birthday, and reminded them again when we arrived. They seated us, handed us... one menu for the table, and left us to contemplate our life choices. About 30 minutes later after we started wondering if our server had transferred to another restaurant, I had to track down a manager just to get someone to greet us. To his credit, he apologized and comped our first round of drinks and an appetizer, which was appreciated. Unfortunately that was the only redeemable detail of this whole experience. . The menu was surprisingly limited and they were already out of the ceviche. The ocean view? Gorgeous. The service? More elusive than Ted Cruz during state emergencies. Our cocktails were around $20 each and served in plastic cups. I kept waiting for someone to tell me the real glasses were coming. They weren't. The appetizers finally arrived, and then... silence. Another 30 minutes passed and no one had checked on us. Once again, I had to flag someone down just to order another round because apparently making eye contact was the restaurant's version of table service. The food itself wasn't worth the wait. The nachos genuinely reminded me of Taco Bell not as an insult to Taco Bell, which at least knows exactly what it is. The calamari was actually decent, but it couldn't carry the rest of the meal. We were on our way to the Lil Wayne concert at the amphitheater afterward, so abandoning ship wasn't really an option. By the time we finished even after they comped an appetizer and our first round, two more appetizers and three cocktails still came to $127. We asked them to validate our parking. They took the ticket, came back and told us it was validated. We pulled out of the parking lot.. and still got charged $45. The concert which unlike dinner was awesome. Long Beach has too many fantastic restaurants to spend your money here. I'd happily come back for the view. I'd just eat literally anywhere else first. We'll call it even since my bestie puked all over their parking lot upon our departure. Did ya'll know cutwaters were so lethal? TF. Ps.. party of 3 and they added a required 20% gratuity???

I have been here several times, including staying at the hotel 2x during the pandemic. I have never eaten anything that wasn't delicious. The atmosphere is amazing - gorgeous water views. The property theme is well represented throughout, including at Fuego. The service is always friendly and professional but sometimes a little slow. I haven't ever had it be unacceptably slow, though, just laid back. I will continue to frequent even when not staying at the hotel. Totally recommend!

WILL AND ALEX!!!!!! FUEGO! If you're looking for some good drinks, a nice warm vibe, beautiful ambience and two great bartenders taking care of you, Pull up to Fuego!

Ask the Community - Fuego

Does this restaurant have hookah options?

No, not anymore. They stopped offering hookah during COVID.

I see the hotel has different options for wedding ceremony/ reception. Does the restaurant host wedding receptions?

Thanks for your question. Our restaurant Fuego does not host wedding ceremonies or receptions. We do have beautiful outdoor spaces for weddings & ceremonies at Hotel Maya.

Can you order for pick up?

We offer delivery service through Doordash, Uber Eats & Grubhub or you can order Fuego ToGo, we do not deliver.

Are there any vegan options here? Or can I make anything on the menu vegan?

Definitely

When will you be bringing back Sunday brunch?

We have an a la carte Sunday Brunch on both Saturday & Sunday from 11am - 4pm with live music on Sundays. Menu's can be viewed on our website www.hotelmayalongbeach.com/fuego-restaurant.

Do you take reservations?

They do take reservations

Do you still have hookah available?

When I visited on fall 2021, we did not see hookah

Do they have bottomless mimosas?!?

👎🏽 nope

What time is their happy hour?

Hello - thanks for your question! Fuego’s happy hour is Monday thru Friday 3pm - 6pm excluding holidays. We look forward to having you!…

Will you have Thanksgiving brunch or dinner?

Yes we will! The menu is available on our website.

Is their a brunch buffet on weekends?

Yes, on Sunday. Fabulous! We had 14 family members for my 76th Birthday. You will love it and not that pricey compared to other hotels. Enjoy.

Are Sunday brunches only buffet style and do they have bottomless mimosas?

Yeah every day they have Buffett and is optional if you get it from the menu, and continental breakfast everyday.

Are dogs allowed on the patio?

Yes

On Sundays do people have the option between the unlimited brunch and just ordering plain breakfast?

Yes. The breakfast buffet is $25 and has eggs, bacon, breakfast burritos and a Continental offering. Not really worth $25 considering the Residence Inn has an amazing breakfast that comes with the room. We ordered breakfast burritos off the menu…

No, It's a different restaurant group.

Is this place good for brunch?

Is this place Kid friendly?

I wouldn't take kids there, maybe only for Sunday brunch. I was there for May 5 and there was a nice salsa band and people were dancing, there were a few kids there that were running around and people were stepping on them and it changed the…

I can't recommend the birria enough, as the flavors were reminiscent of what I've had in Mexico, very authentic. Our waitress was absolutely phenomenal, super friendly and anticipating all of our needs (water refills, leftover containers, etc.). Service overall by all staff was friendly. We were actually presently surprised with the taste of the food, thinking it might be more Americanized but they actually had very authentic and tasty totopos (tortilla chips). The tomato salsa that came with the chips was also very refreshing. We asked for hot sauce too and the house habanero salsa really packed a punch! We ordered carne asada nachos, pork belly chilaquiles (from the brunch menu), a breakfast burrito, poke, and steamed clams. The steamed clams came in a rich tomato broth and the breakfast burrito was massive. The poke was just okay and the chilaquiles a bit too soggy for me, and the carne asada nachos a bit dry. Nonetheless, presentation and portion sizes were respectable. The last comment is that food here is quite pricey but that reflects the likely high rent of a restaurant in 2nd and PCH. Ola still exceeded expectations and provided a more than pleasant meal.

Absolutely fire! This place was a smash hit!!…read more My brother and I came down here for the Formula Drift Championship and Night Lights car show. We were looking for a very authentic Mexican place that was clean and vibrant. From the moment you drive into their parking lot in the rear, you instantly know how much they care about every piece of their entire process. I'm telling you: the manicured parking lot, the detailed attention to us (even though we were the last ones walking into the restaurant at near closing time). They attended to us as if they were awaiting royalty! I've forgotten what real authentic service felt like, and this really smashed it. Beyond that, I can tell you that from the homemade salsa to the absolutely overabundant amount of ceviche, the generous portions of avocado slices on top of it, the authentic tostada, and the fajitas that we split were absolutely over the top. To have any other value other than 5 stars for this place is absolutely mind-blowing! This is definitely a destination location, and I will be bringing my wife and kids to thoroughly enjoy themselves and the quality of food that they have here. This is the Mexican place that has that authentic flavor, that 10-out-of-10 royalty-level service, at a very reasonable value in exchange for everything and more. *To whomever reads this on the ownership side, I personally thank you for the entire process and for the culture that you have created.
