I had high expectations for our dinner at this restaurant, especially given the price we paid, but unfortunately, the experience was disappointing on many fronts. I was part of a party of 17, and as someone who has worked in fine dining before, I know how important it is to truly accommodate guests. This place did not live up to that standard. Right off the bat, we were never informed that we'd have to pay on one check. Our waitress said we were supposed to be told about this over the phone, but that never happened. We ended up spending over $1,600 on food and drinks, and while the food was good, it wasn't top-tier, especially for the price. It felt like we were paying more for the name than the experience. The service was decent, and our waitress was sweet, but because gratuity was included, there was no extra effort to make the experience memorable for my sister's engagement celebration. She didn't even ask us what we were celebrating, which felt pretty impersonal. The whole point of dining out for such a special occasion is to feel like it's being recognized, but that just wasn't the case here. Another frustrating issue was that they couldn't itemize the receipt and allow us to split the check according to what everyone actually ordered. Instead, they insisted that we split the total evenly across four cards. As a former fine dining server, I understand this could be a hassle and tedious but It could have been handled more professionally, if the server took accurate notes when taking our orders, this could've been a piece of cake, all she had to do it divide our drinks up cause the dinner was a flat rate... this shouldn't be hard. When we arrived at the restaurant, we were told by the extremely unwelcoming host that the "two-hour clock" starts ticking the moment we sit down--despite the restaurant not even being busy on a SATURDAY. Mind you, they couldn't even manage to serve us our three courses in under two hours, and we ended up being there for a full three and a half hours. There should never be a time limit on a table, especially when you're paying that much for dinner. I'm not complaining about the price--I understand we were going to be spending a lot when dining here. But for that kind of money, the experience should be exceptional. Disappointing experience. This place used to be a nice, classy spot. Now, the only positive thing I can say is the view is nice. I met up with my dear friends for brunch, last Sunday. The hostess had caca face. The waiter was hard to find, when our drinks were empty. The bartender does make good drinks, if you can get one. My eggs Benedict were served cold. The table was wobbly. The filthy chair got my pants dirty. There was a female customer that came in and sat near us- wearing a thong bikini bottom. The view is spectacular! I also really liked the vibe there. It was all decorated for Cinco de Mayo, the service was A+ and the food was delicious. We tried the sea bass ceviche, the chorizo queso and the guacamole appetizers. Their chips are fresh and light and all of the apps we tried were delicious. The star was the queso. I could bathe in it. After inhaling all the apps I settled on the tortilla soup and I was really happy with that choice. Very flavorful and spiced just right. The food was mediocre, unsalted, and somewhat lukewarm. It was not worth the price on top of the 20% gratuity they charge. However, the server was amazing and was very responsive to whatever we needed. All the other servers looked apathetic though. I had the carne asada tacos, and they were really, really bland. They had a salsa that tasted as if they dumped a can of chipotle peppers in adobo sauce and blended it with water. The guacamole also did not have much flavor. I enjoyed the view of the water and the Queen Mary, but it was absolutely not worth coming here. It was overpriced. I've been to this restaurant many times over the years. It's usually for some sort of celebration or for work meetings. This visit for 2/26 was a bit disappointing. We had reservations for 4 and asked to be sat inside as it was a bit cold and windy for some of the guests. They still sat us outside and brought us those outdoor heaters. Unfortunately, it began to rain so we were all moved inside but they did not close the glass doors so we were all still cold from the wind and the heater was too far away to warm everyone up. For the price you pay for food and drinks here, you would think the staff would want you to feel nice and cozy. For the appetizers, we had 2 orders of calamari and the fresh guacamole w/ fire roasted salsa. The calamari was great because the breading was not too thick. The sauces that came with it too were delicious. The guacamole and salsa was good but nothing that made it stand out to justify the price compared to other restaurants. We were also given a basket of chips that was from the bottom of the bag it seemed cause we had like 5 whole chips. As for the entree orders, I got the seafood crepas and the other 3 guests got the ropa vieja. The seafood crepas were decent but a little heavy on white cream sauce inside. The ropa vieja I got to try and I felt the visual presentation oversold the actual taste in relation to the portion size and price. We came by for a very important celebration dinner on Friday, we had a group of 15, aside from the beautiful view we had a delicious dinner, crab cakes were delightful & the filet mignon was to die for! Had 2 cucumber mules to drink that were strong but perfect! Our servers were very prompt & informative. The restaurant was full, everyone seemed happy. They accommodated my sisters dietary restrictions & provided a full vegan meal for her. The kids chicken tenders & fries were very tasty as well. My partner got a shrimp plate with a fantastic risotto layer underneath the layer of shrimp. The lamb chop appetizer was amazing! The individual caramel cheesecake for dessert was the cherry on top of such a wonderful dining experience. A very odd menu and way overpriced for very mediocre food. Yes the atmosphere on the patio is nice but the service was pretty slow. THEN they have the nerve to add a 20% tip on the bill. Food, views and service were great! However, just like Hotel Maya rooms, they don't clean well or dust. I was so upset while eating my food, which was delicious, when I looked up at this light fixture (picture attached). It was filthy with dirt, dust and insects hanging. Came here for Mother's Day and it was Worst experience ever! Do not waste your money here (the 1 and 2 star reviews are real!). We should've known it was a red flag when the host wouldn't even acknowledge us and then asked if we had a reservation without even looking at us or saying hello or anything. When we ordered appetizers we ordered guacamole, 20 minutes go by and nothing so when we ask about them the waitress said they're out of guacamole (at a Mexican/Latin restaurant at 6pm!!) was nobody going to tell us if we didn't ask?! The waitress said she told someone to tell us but they actually never came to tell us. Then the food comes out, some of the most flavorless "Latin food" we've ever had. The chipotle shrimp has a red sauce that had absolutely no flavor, seemed like colored mayonnaise. The steak my mom ordered was good but the seafood enchiladas were TERRIBLE and dry. How you can make enchiladas dry is beyond me. We were a table of 14 and most of us ordered 1 or 2 drinks. When the bill came we noticed they charged us 3 additional sangrias (17$ ea!). When we told one of the waiters (there were 3 waiters at this point) he came back and said he "talked to the bar and confirmed that's what we ordered, that they have a system set up and they only make drinks as they're ordered." We asked to speak to the manager as we all knew EXACTLY what we ordered. When the manager came he started off by explaining his "system" set up, essentially saying we did order them and needed to pay for them. At this point we lost it with this place and explained to him that his system is obviously flawed and we would absolutely not pay over 50$ in additional drinks just because they have a failed system and on top of that, their failed system with explaining what is and isn't available on the menu at the time of ordering as we waited 20 min and nobody's said anything until we asked. Also their failed greeting system of rude hosts who don't even acknowledge or look at you when you checkin. We likely would have ignored the host and appetizer issue but when the overcharging came into play it all came out! So after my mom was completely embarrassed and the manager agreed to remove the drinks (mind you we didn't get comped for anything regarding the appetizers and we didn't ask to be comped either), they came back with another receipt that removed the drinks but the final charge only went down about 10$. Unfortunately we did not take a photo of the first receipt so we couldn't compare like for like so we tried adding everything up and the numbers didn't match but at this point we were exhausted from being there and just paid and left. Our bill was almost $1200 so the audacity for them to make it seem like we didn't want to pay for a few extra drinks was absolutely ridiculous and disrespectful. I would NEVER return to this place. The trouble is absolutely not worth the view and our Mother's Day was RUINED. read more

Food was pretty good! The view was beautiful and the staff are EXTREMELY nice, we really loved the service! The pricing is a bit expensive for the food, but the food presentation is beautiful. Now let's get into the food! We ordered crab cakes and the calamari for appetizers. I would recommend the crab cakes over calamari. The calamari is super chewy and a bit dry, though I did use the spicy sauce for my other food that came with the the calamari. The crab cakes were very good, came with 2 decent sized cakes and they were squishy. The remoulade sauce is PHENOMENAL, we ordered sides of the sauce! For our main dishes I ordered the trio fish tacos and he ordered the seafood enchiladas. Both were SO GOOD! We also ordered drinks and they were really good to, I ordered the playa del sol, got litty Honestly, the pricing was A LOT, for the food. Only reason I'm giving 3 stars is the pricing. This was the worse experience ever. June 12th we hosted my son's graduation lunch at Fuego's with our family. Everyone had separate reservations through OpenTable to accommodate 6 people for each reservation. I called the day before and informed the restaurant that we would have multiple reservations. I was told that it would not be a problem and they would accommodate us all. The day we arrived it was very chaotic and it was obvious that they were unprepared for all of the reservations they had. We were seated before our other guest came to reserve their spots. The manager, DeeDee came over to meet us and was very clear that she was not happy that we had booked with multiple people with different reservations, I explained to her that we had already called the day before and she continued to act as if we have not done so. That did not start off well. We arrived at 2:00 p.m. and at 3:38 p.m. our food was still not there. DeeDee the manager started being aggressive and very rudely stated, "You all need to leave, we need our tables we have other reservations coming." However, the other manager and servers kept telling us that the other reservations were not there yet and we had plenty of time. Please note, at this time not all of our meals had come out yet. Disappointing. Our bills total was over $900.00 and we were treated very poorly. I have eaten at Fuego's many of times but have NEVER been treated so poorly. Came here for a nice dinner with my husband and some friends at 6pm on Saturday night. The ambiance upon entering is very welcoming and relaxing. We were escorted to the patio for seating where we had a nice water view. It was very quiet and serene even with the 2 private parties on either side of us. We did notice though that there weren't heaters at every table and the one that was by our table was moved to someone else (rude but ok). Luckily it wasn't too cold out nor windy so everything was off to a great start. Now I honestly wanted to give 5 stars truly, but the following is why I couldn't. Within 5 minutes of sitting our waitress Kayla came by for drink orders. We did have to stop her before she rushed off to order appetizers because it seemed like she was in a rush, despite there not being too many people in the restaurant. We ordered Chips and guacamole and El Atun (Tuna) Ceviche. The appetizers took quite a bit to come out, about 20 minutes and the quantity of chips and Guacamole was massive but I guess acceptable for $16. We didn't get offered refills for drinks very much while waiting. The Atun ceviche was delicious and definitely something I will order again. The salsa that came with the Chips and Guacamole was decent and had the spice you'd expect salsa to have, however it felt like there was a core element left out that usually makes the experience very nostalgic... like eating at grandma's house. That appetizer I might not order the next time around. For our entrees we had: Seared Salmon, Ropa Vieja, Callo de Hacha, and Seafood Crepas. I got the Ropa Vieja which I normally love, but after waiting 30 minutes for the food sadly, my dish was ICE COLD. The flavor was decent albeit under sauced and slightly dry. I could barely eat any of it because it wasn't even warm. Sadly our waitress never came by throughout the meal to where I could let her know until we were about to leave. The other entrees were hot which I could only assume that my dish was ready first, left in the window for a period while the other dishes were finished. The drive to get in is tucked away and it's located on the southwest corner from the hotel. Stopped in on my bday. Patio seating along with the heated lamps was a plus. The food here was FUEGO! (haha you know lit) Fuego is located inside of the Maya, which is a branch of Hilton. They offered us outdoor dining overlooking the Long Beach harbor and provided a great view of the Queen Mary. They have YELP reservations which made it very convenient. I tried their Steak "Tampiqueño", Brioche French Toast, Pork Chorizo Chilaquiles and of course I had to try their Fuego Margarita. The service was a little slow, but I had a great experience overall and the food was delicious! Plus they have a beautiful view of the ocean!
