This is my go-to for 魚蛋腸 (fish ball noodle rolls). Whether with oyster sauce or curry sauce, this place make the cheong fun for street eats. It's soft but rolled tightly, so the best way to described it to the uninitiated is that it's a Cantonese Tteokbokki. Now drizzling it with sweet oyster and peanut sauce, sriracha if you want it spicy, and sprinkle some sesame on it, and you got some delicious noodles to munch on. If you don't know what to get, just get the B1 or B2 with everything on it. Other highlights: - Noodle rolls: the noodle is firmer that the fresh made ones around the area. My recommended filling? I recently ordered a medium beef steamed rice roll ($4.75) and it brought me so much JOY! I always ask for extra soy sauce, scallions, and a little hot sauce with the pulled rice rolls. I opted to try this place vs going back to Joe's as it seems this place is just as good. I can't seem to find a place that does beef rice rolls as good as some dim sum restaurants, but their rice rolls are made the authentic way. it's delicious, light and airy. beef rice rolls is just ground beef steamed into the rice rolls itself. the curry fish balls looked so good. I love cheung fun (肠粉) -- rice noodle rolls. While cheung fun is usually found at dim sum restaurants, we luckily have two dedicated rice noodle shops in Downtown Flushing, on the opposite sides of the Roosevelt Avenue and Main Street intersection - Fu Yuan and Joe's Steamed Rice Rolls. Of the two, I generally prefer Fu Yuan's rice noodle rolls. Our usual order from Fu Yuan or Joe's Steamed Rice Rolls -- sometimes both -- is the beef rice noodle roll (牛粉). Joe's Steamed Rice Rolls makes thinner, more delicate noodles; and uses minced meat, which allows the meat to be more evenly distributed though the noodle. Fu Yuan makes simpler, slightly thicker and greasier noodles similar in texture to dim sum restaurants; and uses actual meat pieces, though with a higher noodle-to-meat ratio. You won't go wrong with Fu Yuan or Joe's Steamed Rice Rolls, but for me, Fu Yuan makes for a heartier comfort snack. While Joe's separately packs sauces for take-out, Fu Yuan generally includes the sauces in the noodle container. I'd recommend soy sauce, some peanut sauce, and a dash of sriracha. Fu Yuan is take-out, only. While you're at that specific corner of Downtown Flushing, consider visiting New Flushing Bakery two doors away for their regular and Portuguese egg tarts. Being not from around here, I think my first mistake was ordering at the pickup window. In all, I think i waited a total of 25 or so minutes for a small shrimp rice roll and a a small pork rice roll. During that time, I noticed that a lot of people were coming in and just picking up food barely waiting. There were a couple other folks like us, and you could tell our patience was getting thin. I don't know how they can adjust this model since they have to deliver at the online order pace, but I'd just say if you want to order from here, try to do it online. Or if you are going to do it in person, have something else to do for 20 minutes or so and come back. When we actually got the food, it was pretty good. Very good texture and chew from the rice noodles. I thought it was a little too light on the filling though ... almost none honestly. It mostly just tasted like eating rice rolls only for 90% of each meal. So, I wasn't entirely satisfied with my experience here. I've notice a lot of ppl have given them high scores. Granted their rice rolls aren't too shabby. It definitely has their way of style and the sauces were pretty good. I've only given this an "AOK" due to that twice their pan fried dumpling was not pan fried nor was it cook through. That's a big no-no in my book. I know they're not known for it.
