It tasted like nothing. Genuinely. For some reason they weren't open for ~15-20 mins past their stated opening time.

Haven't visited White Bear in years. It's takeout only now, but still cash only. Went on a Sunday afternoon and there was one couple in front of us. The person at the window took their order and didn't come back to take our order until she came out with the couple's order. Didn't have to wait too long, though. Got 2 orders of the #6 (wonton with hot sauce) and 1 order of the #17 (dan dan noodles - comes with or without pork, but we got the pork). It came out to $30 total, with each dish being $10. The #6 comes with a dozen wontons. Despite the red color, the chili oil isn't spicy at all. The wontons had a thin skin and were filled with plenty of meat, with most of the flavor coming from the chili oil crisps and the pickled mustard bits. The dan dan noodles were tasty, and came with a sauce very similar to the wontons. You really can't go wrong by ordering #6 and/or #17.

Quick and easy chili wontons for $10! You'll have to get it for take out so I just ate the food next to the store. I wish it had a little more saltiness or flavor, it felt a little lacking on those aspects but nonetheless it was still yummy.

Got their famous hot chili oil wontons. The hot oil is relatively mild, but umami. Not as spicy as I would like. The filling is plentiful. These aren't the best spicy wontons I've had, but good to stop by on a food crawl. I definitely prefer a lighter wonton skin, and a more concentrated filling. They used to allow indoor dining, but stopped after COVID. It is takeout only. This is a cash only spot, an I would say the wontons are good to share between 2 people (especially if you're going for more food later.) worth stopping by ( ̄^ ̄)ゞ

We came here to try this place after hearing so many good things about it! Run by the sweetest elderly couple, they make their wontons fresh and they are deliciouss. 10/10 - $10 for 12 wontons is not bad at all considering it is made fresh! It is a hole in the wall place that has amazing food. I would definitely come back!

A very nonchalant dumpling place! We almost missed this when we were walking since there were no clear signs. You order from a window and there is no seating. The lady who runs the place comes to the window, takes your order, and gives you the food. Everything is cash only. I ordered the #6 Wontons in Hot Chilli Sauce and it was delicious! The wrapper is very thin and they are generous with the filling. Everything came hot and fresh. $10 for 10 wontons. I would come again! Great if you want something fast and to take home.

Heard that this was a great place to get good dumplings at a cheap price. Super easy to miss since it's just a window with no seating but there were other people waiting around the storefront which helped us spot it. Seemed like it was one lady manning the entire operation - taking orders, making the dumplings, everything. So it took a while but indeed they were good well-priced dumplings. They give you chili oil too which isn't spicy at all (as someone who likes spice) but it's pretty unwieldy to eat standing up so I'd come with a plan for somewhere else to eat bc eating standing up is not it

*TAKE-OUT & CASH ONLY* Like most other folks here, I had to come because SO many recommended their #6 Wontons with Hot Sauce. I have to say, these wontons didn't disappoint. They were decently sized and generously packed with meat filling. The chili sauce looked spicy but surprisingly didn't taste too hot. Very balanced and delicious. The pricing is steep for about 10 wontons, but guess that's to be expected with how viral they are. Would definitely come back.

Was influenced by IG. Tried their wontons and thought it was okay. The sauce was good but the wonton skin was really thick. I didn't think the filling was too special either. We got our order very quickly with minimal wait time. There's no ambiance to speak of since it was a takeout window.

#6. Wontons with Spicy Chili Oil. $10. ZERO spice, plain flavor. Fresh ingredients, pickled vegetable topping was good.

Finally made it here for a late lunch on a weekday. It's very close to the subway & not too hard to find. Passed by a few times & never realized that this was the place that's all over social media. It's on a quieter block across from a housing complex and around the corner from a small children's park. There's an "unhoused encampment" two storefronts over, but those locals seem to stick to themselves. It's also at a busy commercial intersection with lots business development across the street (bakeries, boba shops, Spot Dessert Bar) & people walking to Sky View Mall. The interesting co-habitants of NYC. There was no line & the friendly worker was on her phone/break inside and I got her attention. She spoke Mandarin & communicated in English fine. It's now a window to order from, so you need to find a seat at the park or head to Golden Shopping Mall Food Court or New York Food Court. $10 for #6 Spicy Wontons. WHICH PROVINCE is this dish from? I always wonder WHICH Chinese cuisine are these viral dumpling places from (are they all Fujianese-owned?), or are they a mash-up of different provinces, to appeal to customers? It's hard to know if this is a good representative dish of the flavors that I'm supposed to be eating. And what am I supposed to taste. NOTE: My dish came out fast and wasn't very warm. Since it was after lunch hours, it seemed like everything was premade and tossed together. Or are you supposed to eat the wontons cooler / lukewarm? Maybe make sure to ask them to heat it up. I actually took this home for dinner & reheated it. Even though the container is on the smaller side, the amount was pretty filling, maybe about 10 small wontons. The quality of the ingredients were very fresh and each wonton had a lot of scallion packed in with pork. The skins are kind of medium - thin, I'm still not a fan of dumplings and medium - thick skins. Grew up on Cantonese-style Wontons. The topping / sauce is finely chopped pickles (maybe pickled radish), scallion, ginger, sesame seeds & chili oil. The Chili Oil had NO HEAT. And I'm a person that can't eat too spicy. The dumpling filling didn't have much seasoning either overall it was fine but one note and the most pronounced flavor were the pickles. I wonder if the flavor has been dumbed down over the years because of tourism. OR is this the style of this province? Can someone clarify. Glad to support this business, but not something I'd come back for. At least for the way they made my dish, it seems kid-friendly too.

White Bear is a popular spot in DT Flushing, especially for their #6 - 'Wonton w Hot Sauce' - this came with 12 wontons, generously filled with the pork mixture, and topped heavily with their wonderous chili oil sauce concoction - this was such a filling snack/meal, that it is best to be shared amongst at least by 2 people! Their menu also offers other wonton varieties, rice balls, noodles, soupless dumplings, rice cake dishes, bean threads, and rice dishes (with beef brown sauce, cabbage pork, pickled veggies & pork, and fried rice). Staff was very no-nonsense and straightforward; the item was prepared quickly within a couple of minutes, but came out piping hot. Note that this is just a walk-up window, so most patrons just ate off to the side of the sidewalk. +#6 - 'Wonton w Hot Sauce' +efficient service

epic whole in the wall authentic wontons. chili oil isn't super spicy. so cheap!!! came here on a dumpling crawl with friends. they close at 7pm. we went on a friday night around 630 and they only had 2 orders left. go early!

We have been meaning to try White Bear for a long time due to their popular dumplings, however when we went all they had were the wontons with spicy chili ($10) and dandan noodles ($10). It's been like this for a while now. Not sure if things have changed. Also I think their prices are a little steep due to the hype they had previously received. The dandan noodles were on the softer side, but I enjoyed eating them with the crunch of the cucumber and bean sprouts. The grounded meat tasted a little bitter on it's own for some reason, but with the sauce and noodles it wasn't noticeable. Note that the restaurant is just a small window serving takeout orders.

White Bear serves up decent dumplings with good prices through a window stall. Nothing too special.

Is the number 6 wonton with chili oil made with beef or pork?

    Pork

Are they currently set frozen wontons and how much?

They are selling frozen wontons by the bag, I believe in quantities of 20.

Is this place closed on Monday? The old lady said they're closed Feb 4,2019 just wondering if they make up their own hours on when they wanna serve customers

It's probably because of Chinese New Year

Is it possible to order vegetarian dumplings? Are the dumplings already premade with meat.

Yes, it's possible, but probable? Vegetable dumplings are on the menu. You could even buy a bag of frozen veggie dumplings to take home. That's if they actually have them, which never seems to be the case.

    Any indoor seating?

There's a few really small tables!

Can you get veggie wontons with the chilli oil? Also, do the workers speaks english (just want to be on the safe side)?

    No. You get #6.

Cuisine: 6 Service: 7…read moreDecor: 4 Value: 7 I have not been here in a long time. Maybe because the prices are no longer considered cheap eats. Or maybe because my taste buds have evolved over the years. Or maybe it's just not as good as it used to be. The answer is maybe all three and somewhere in the middle. I have never came here, or any other Latino-Chinese restaurants in NYC, for service or decor, so let's set that aside. The value is still somewhat there, but the food did not hit that nostalgic note I was looking for. I wanted to get the Fried Pork Chops (Chuletas De Cerdo Frita), but our server suggested the "juicier" Broiled Pork Chops (Chuletas De Credo Asada) instead. Sorry to report, if that's juicy, then how dry is the fried pork chops? I shutter at the thought. It was also under seasoned. I substituted the House Fried Rice for my side at an $4.50 additional fee. It was just okay and not worth the upgrade. Boneless Crispy Fried Chicken (Chicharron De Pollo) was also a disappointment. The batter was more hard than crispy, but the idea that boneless dark meat isn't more juicy simply tells me that the chef over fried the pieces. It came with Fried sweet plantains, which could have been a but more ripe but not bad. I'm not sure how I feel about the Beef Stew (Carne Guisada), which had relatively tender meat, but the sauce was so weak and lacked any real flavor. The black beans and white rice that came with it was decent. What might bring me back to this restaurant sooner rather than later was the Shrimp Egg Foo Young (foo Young Con Camarones). I felt that the eggs were cooked extremely well, but the star of the show was that delicious brown sauce full of umami. Having this over white or fried rice made this meal much more acceptable. I'm not sure when I'll have another craving for this type of food. If I do, I'll definitely get the egg foo young again. However, the other dishes were misses for me, so maybe I'll try the Fried Pork Chops and Shredded Beef in Tomato SayceRopa Vieja.

I ordered the cured pork with garlic shoots and dry fried green beans. The cured pork was quite salty, and paired well with the buttery, tender leeks it was cooked with. The dish was not overly oily, and was pleasant over white rice. I enjoyed the chewiness of the pork which allowed you to experience the complex flavor. The green beans were well fried, with characteristic texture signature to this dish. The seasoning was very well balanced and not overpowering to the natural sweetness of the green beans. I would recommend either dish. They were both slightly toned down iterations when compared to the times I've eaten these dishes at other Sichuan restaurants in flushing, but still well seasoned and well cooked. The service was very warm and friendly, and many other customers seemed to be returning regulars.
