After a horrible experience at 2 other local restaurants, we stopped at Friendly's. Even though they were closing in 15 minutes, they allowed us to order for take out without any hesitation or attitude. The young lady who helped us (I think her name was Lori or Laura?) was WONDERFUL! She was so sweet and definitely helped to improve my mood. This is my first trip to Gettysburg and after my experience tonight, we will definitely be coming back any time we visit! read more

Just for the record: I'm WHITE with an ASIAN spouse and we were both treated properly at this establishment by a BLACK server. Race has NOTHING to do with service from this place. The regular food is ok, but there are better places to dine. Friendly's ice cream is awesome- go there for the dessert. I usually go there or Bruster's down on 116 whenever I visit my parents. I went tonight to support a neighbor's HS soccer team and have no complaints about the service. So no, it has nothing to do with race or if you are in an interracial relationship. My wife and I were in Gettysburg to see the sights and decided to try Friendly's. We got a very basic lunch of a quarter pound burger for my wife and a Philly cheese steak sandwich for me. My wife said it was the worst hamburger she'd ever had. They claimed it was a quarter pound. There is NO WAY. I occasionally get the mini burgers at Wendy's. That is exactly what the Friendly's patty looked like, only burnt. My Phily steak had lots of bread and very little dry greasy meat. This is the second time we have tried to use door dash with this restaurant and both times have had to go pick it up ourselves. I know that is not the restaurants fault. The first time it had been an hour from the time of the order and the person that answered the phone agreed to remake our order. The second time the employees were rude on the phone and rude in person. I asked how long our food had been sitting there and she said about 40 minutes, but it's been under the warmer. Delish! After a long day of seeing Gettysburg, I NEEDED a bite to eat. My options were slim. But Friendly's caught my eye. I went in with 7 other friends and took a seat right away. My eye goes on the menus scanning for something that sounded good. The tomato basil soup and grilled cheese was the one. And it was fabulous! I stopped at this Friendly's by myself tonight at 7pm. I waited at the Hostess Stand for about 15-20 minutes before anyone acknowledge me. The waitress took my name and said it would be 30 minutes and I stood off on the side and waited. The lobby was full. She took the group of five people's name behind me told them it would be a 40 minute wait, but walked them in front of me and seated them. The next group of four people got their name put on the list she told them it'd be a 45 min wait walked them right in front of me and seated them.she left the next two couples standing a long time one of the women called into the kitchen she came out talked to them and they started leaving. On the way out they shared with me that after talking to her I wasn't going to be waited on there. now, I think discrimination is at play here. When I left 9-10 other people walked out behind me. I drove to the Perkins across town to eat and was treated very nicely. I'm afraid Friendlys is going to have some trouble if their employees are able to pick and choose who they'll let allow eat at their restaurants. I hope this is not going on here. read more

Do not eat here. The kitchen is very slow. A simple burger and chicken wrap took an hour to come out. And this was a garden variety weekday lunchtime when the restaurant was not busy at all. Took a trip to Gettysburg from NYC, and found this GEM right in the middle of the civil war battle fields! Friendly staff and great quality fresh local breakfast food. Seems like a stretch for a food chain, but no diner in NYC can compare. Very satisfied! read more

Then they charge half my troops for their food. This place needs a new staff immediately. Because the Friendly's in Ohio have all closed, my mother was thrilled that this Gettysburg's location was still open! The food was good, ice cream was great, our server Carrie was awesome. My biggest problem was another server that continued to sing Rosanne Barr- style to the music that was playing in the restaurant. She'd leave the eating area (barely) then SCREAM the lyrics to the current song. It was beyond annoying... There wasn't a recognizable manager on duty to tell as the servers were seating people and cashing people out. So my ears needed to bleed all the way through dessert because she wouldn't shut up! This restaurant sucks so much a$$ that I felt it was my civic duty to society to take the time to download Yelp and write a review in order to prevent any other person from going through what my family had to experience. On Memorial Day at 10:30 am we tried to get breakfast at Friendly's before we hit the road. With only 30% of the restaurant full you would have thought we would get in and out...45 minutes later our food came out cold and at staggered times due to only having 2 cooks working and only one of them knew how to cook breakfast. Hopefully next time we visit they'll be out of business and a Denny's or some chain with competence will take its place. Do yourself a favor and just hit McDonald's next door. read more

I cannot rate the food, only the customer service. We arrived at about 11:20 on a Monday morning, and it was nearly empty. There was one table occupied, so we knew they were open for service. The new look to Friendly's is great. The kids love this place and the food quality is no different than what one would expect from a chain of this type. The kids menu has a wide variety of options and comes with drink and dessert. We enjoy the nights when we catch the balloon-animal family at work.
