I was GIDDY seeing a Friendly's in Gettysburg! They closed all the Ohio restaurants years ago! When the waitress was done prioritizing clearing tables over actually taking care of customers, I ordered my standard Fish-a-ma-jig and a Fribble. The food is great and as yummy as I remember from 20 years ago. The wait staff here could use someone to bus tables. These gals are far too busy during the lunch rush. read more

Probably one of the worst places I've been to this year, and really from start to the bitter end. We came here after every other place in Gettysburg was either an hour wait, or had a sign inside that said food would take an hour. Ridiculous. We were sat after a 5 minute wait. It was obvious that this was going to be a handful. There was a lady who looked like management going to tables without food asking what they ordered again. Yikes We were sat and put in drink order. 10minutes went by. We got our drinks. Put in our meal order. 35minutes went by - NO REFILL. Good came out - it was wrong. My order was for a Turkey BLT and a waffle fries upgrade. I received regular fries. 10 minutes went by and upon asking for a refill we then asked for checks to get going. I was charged for waffle fries. They had to take it off the bill. I wanted to get a milkshake to go - I was told that would be 5-10minutes. We were the only ones left in the store. Really good customer service I love the fact that there are still a few Friendly's restaurants still around. We stopped in, because it was an hour and a half wait at another local restaurant. We shared an appetizer of mini mozzarella sticks and a retro banana split. We told the waitress ahead of time that we would be ordering the ice cream. She brought it out to us at the perfect time without us needing to say when. I really wish there were more Friendly's around, but it's worth a drive to Gettysburg just the same. read more

I've never had a problem here but today I went to pick up the orders and they were talking crap about customizing the milkshakes and saying who tf ordered Oreo milkshakes with stuff added in. We will never come back to this Friendly's in gettysburg. I will start out by saying the waitress was friendly and accommodating. I ordered a BLT and tomato soup my husband ordered a fish sandwich and clam chowder we were asked if we wanted something other than fries so we both said soup not knowing or being told it was $3 extra . My granddaughter's meal luckily we had a coupon for was $9 originally for boxed mac and cheese and one hot dog. My sandwich was very gross and dry the bread was toasted but tasted stale, it was very dry only one little sliver of mayonnaise that looked translucent like it was old mayonnaise . Back again and even better service. No one would ever mistake Friendly's for fine dining, but it's perfectly fine variety of American food and you can get healthy options if you ignore most of the options. They even have good specials running for combo meals. Our orders were ready and hot in good time and the service people were right on point. Currently waiting at the pick up window for an order that was ready 10 min ago. Staff does not bother to acknowledge my existence... A simple " I'll be right with you ." Would suffice. The guy who eventually helped me was very nice and was pretty much the only one running around and working . Great ice cream but the the service is terrible! They haven't been answering there phones for weeks, they messed up my order which cost almost $100 and forgot my clam chowder($6) and apple sauce($4) so $10 worth of my meal is missing..they won't pick up there phones and this isn't the first time... food is always good but the service is so slow and lacking of enthusiasm that it's not worth eating here anymore. Our waitress was wonderful, i hate i dont remember her name. Food: 4.5: docking .5 stars because they screwed up my sundae. The burgers we ordered were delicious and the onions rings were worth the upgrade. Everything was good. Price point: 5 stars: it was afforable feeding a family of 4 that eats like a family of 8. It was good, and has the atmosphere of a Frisch's Big Boy restaurant. Good family and kid friendly eatery. The menu items were good and they are the only real chain sit down, non fast food, restaurant in Gettysburg. The real bright spot is the Ice Cream! The kids meals come with giant Ice Cream Sundae's and you also get a free medium sundae when you download and sign up for their app the first time. Also they have parking onsite, so no worries about metered parking or garage parking. Another plus! read more

If this speaks to you then coming to Friendly's in general is a great idea and this location is perfect because they don't care about any of that stuff either. More or less everything on the menu is in some capacity fried, cheesed, batter dipped or over sauced/mayoed to kingdom come. It also needs to be mentioned that things are easily a good 20% overpriced which is why it's idiotic to ever eat at any location without some type of kids eat free-15% off-20% off-$3 off of $15 spent coupon, etc. We rolled in on a Sunday afternoon last month and the place was packed. There was a small group waiting to be seated but every usable seat was taken. Notice how I said useable seat. That would be because around ¼ of the tables were left dirty as the place was badly understaffed in terms of servers and those same servers I guess were also expected to bus their own tables/vacuum the floors in their spare time. Forget South Carolina, it looked like Sherman and his men had sacked part of the dining room. After finally ordering, the food took over thirty minutes until everything was finally rendered which is ridiculous as nothing here is exactly Michelin Star quality in terms of flavor or in terms of complexity. Our server was nice and she was highly apologetic but she looked something like Scooby Doo from the original cartoon where his tail was tied together yet he was trying to go four directions at the same time as she tried to cover all her tables which were spread out over a large area not to mention trying to clear empty tables and push vacuum the floor. On a sidebar, the food was the typical least common denominator stuff that you would expect here so no stars added or deducted in this area but either way the wait was way too long and between being understaffed and dirty it equals a no-go for us in the future. read more
