Our family stopped in for some delicious ice cream on a hot summer day. The ice cream was great -- rich, creamy, and perfect for cooling off -- though the prices seemed a bit inflated, likely due to the location within the historical Gettysburg area. The shop itself was cute, but maybe a bit crowded since they're tight on space. It was fun to watch the workers making peanut brittle right in front of us, and we couldn't help but admire the other tempting goodies on display, from fudge to candied caramel apples. We absolutely love Kilwans ! It doesn't matter the location. It's always spot on whether you're stopping for ice cream or a sundae or freshly prepared candy. We stopped here in Gettysburg yesterday and purchased the Turtle Sundae which was really good. Service was very friendly and prompt and the inside was basically spotless. The candy section the caramel apples and their selections. Everything was well presented. If you're in the area, we highly recommend stopping in here. Be careful on the parking because Gettysburg has parking meters that you need to be aware of so you don't get a ticket. read more

Absolutely LOVE Kilwins!!! My favorite is their Praline ice cream in one of their very delicious waffle cones. My husband loves the Turtle Sundaes! I've been to many Kilwin locations, they are very consistent with their outstanding customer service, cleanliness of their stores and their delicious icecream/candies! We are fortunate to live not too far away from the Gettysburg location, but I've been to Kilwins in Dahlonega, Georgia many times and it's always a great experience!!! read more

I happened to see this spot after dinner at Oroukes. I wanted a little something sweet. Well. They had it covered. I picked up some dodge, peanut butter cups and chocolate Carmel covered marshmallows. While I loved everything I came Home with the one thing that I can't stop thinking about is the marshmallow!!! I came here on a Sunday, and even though most of the stores on Steinwehr was closed, this place was opened for service. I read that they had really good ice cream, especially their Salted Caramel. I, myself, am not a salted caramel person (I tried the one in Seattle that Obama made so popular, and I thought it was the pits!) - I decided to give it a chance after getting sucked in with a sample. It was so cold, creamy, sweet, and slightly salty at the same time. It was delicious, and you can tell that they made it right there on the premise. A trip to Gettysburg is not complete without a stop at Kilwin's. What is not to love? Caramel apples are our favorites. I got the chocolate striped and my wife got a plain. Both were excellent as always. Didn't get ice cream this time, but would highly recommend it. Rum raisin is one of my go-to's. Fantastic selection of ice cream. Cappuccino chip was nice and strong. Cherry was thick with cherry chunks. The lemon meringue was tangy and not over sweet. If you're in a touristy area, you are likely to stumble upon a Kilwins. Originally from Petoskey Michigan, this confectionery has it all: chocolates, truffles, fudge, salt water taffy, ice cream, ect. I usually stop in to buy presents to bring back to satiate my coworkers' inextinguishable lust for sweets. If you know someone from Michigan bring them some Mackinac Island Fudge or take them here for Traverse City Cherry ice cream and you'll be aces in their book. I love the variety of items available, but it is a little on the pricey side. Taste wise it's pretty good, perhaps a little too sweet, especially if you usually go for something like an 80% Dark Chocolate. However, the service, taste, and portion of ice cream in Gettysburg is unmatched compared to other locations along the coast. Here, one scoop is a generous portion that'll make any adult all too happy to have coincidentally walked in on a Wednesday! The chocolate peanut butter was the winner for me and the banana fudge pie (or something) won the husband over...but I think he liked my ice cream better than his. At any rate; need ice cream? HOWEVER, when my daughter asked to use their restroom, she was not allowed. Both she and I asked and were told that they have no public restrooms. Stopped in for an ice cream after dinner and found the service here to be superior. As with many ice cream places, the tastes are free, so we tried a few and then got a waffle cone. Delicious, if not a tad expensive. Omg. Omg. Omg. The toasted coconut ice cream was amazing! It was actually toasty crunchy and the perfect amount of sweetness and creamy . I rarely eat real ice cream but I'm afraid that every time I visit Gettysburg I will have to stop . So in order to keep my girlish figure I will probably not go back to Gettysburg for a while because I don't have very good self control . We stop at Kilwin's at least once, sometimes more, every time we visit Gettysburg (at least once a year). My favorite is the Gettysburg Mud. My buddy likes the Peach and the Key Lime. On Thursdays, if you buy 1 piece of fudge, you get 1 free! The piece of fudge is about 1/2 a pound and they charge $16.50 a pound. I had the double dark chocolate for both pieces. It is very sweet. This is my first piece of fudge and I have no clue how I will finish the rest of it since it is too sweet for me but the sign says it lasts 6 - 8 days so I have time to finish it. The saleswoman was a little weird. We asked to confirm it is buy 1 get 1 free and when she said yes, we pointed to the one we wanted. After we got 1 piece, she asked if we wanted the second piece. By far the best experience in town. The employees are always eager to help and very friendly. They even let you try samples before deciding on a flavor.
