Our family stopped in for some delicious ice cream on a hot summer day. The ice cream was great -- rich, creamy, and perfect for cooling off -- though the prices seemed a bit inflated, likely due to the location within the historical Gettysburg area. The shop itself was cute, but maybe a bit crowded since they're tight on space. It was fun to watch the workers making peanut brittle right in front of us, and we couldn't help but admire the other tempting goodies on display, from fudge to candied caramel apples. Overall, a sweet stop in the heart of Gettysburg -- just be ready to pay a little extra for the prime location. read more

We absolutely love Kilwans ! It doesn't matter the location. It's always spot on whether you're stopping for ice cream or a sundae or freshly prepared candy. We stopped here in Gettysburg yesterday and purchased the Turtle Sundae which was really good. Service was very friendly and prompt and the inside was basically spotless. The candy section the caramel apples and their selections. Everything was well presented. If you're in the area, we highly recommend stopping in here. Be careful on the parking because Gettysburg has parking meters that you need to be aware of so you don't get a ticket. read more

Absolutely LOVE Kilwins!!! My favorite is their Praline ice cream in one of their very delicious waffle cones. My husband loves the Turtle Sundaes! I've been to many Kilwin locations, they are very consistent with their outstanding customer service, cleanliness of their stores and their delicious icecream/candies! We are fortunate to live not too far away from the Gettysburg location, but I've been to Kilwins in Dahlonega, Georgia many times and it's always a great experience!!! read more

I happened to see this spot after dinner at Oroukes. I wanted a little something sweet. Well. They had it covered. I picked up some dodge, peanut butter cups and chocolate Carmel covered marshmallows. While I loved everything I came Home with the one thing that I can't stop thinking about is the marshmallow!!! It was sooo good, and sooo messy but worth it. It was also the least expensive of the bunch. I met the son of the owner, he was delightful and super helpful!! This is in my list top stop st again :) They read more

Extremely overpriced fudge that isn't worth the price (my mother in law is a candy buyer for a large chain). We didn't try the ice cream, but they had a decent selection of flavors. read more

I was intending to buy ice cream for my family but when I walked in, the smell of freshly dipped chocolate marshmallows and caramel apples hit my nose. We bought ice cream AND $100 of chocolate goodness. Toasted coconut ice cream is a must try. read more

Very nice people working there. Love the ice cream and snacks. Bought a jar of caramel to take home like always. It's pretty thick so be sure to warm it up before serving you do buy some for home Sometimes when we come they're making the fudge or sauces in the shop which is fun to watch and smells incredible. No restrooms or parking since it's in historic Gettysburg but easy to walk to from everything read more

bit expensive but if you pick the right flavor, it is amazing. The Gettysburg mud is so good you are know legally required to get it yow won't regret it. Service was great they were super nice even though our group was made up of 40 people. The ambience was great there was a lot to look at and do nearby overall it's fantastic. read more

Great ice cream, great selection, polite and attentive staff. We would definitely visit Kilwin's again.

I came here on a Sunday, and even though most of the stores on Steinwehr was closed, this place was opened for service. I read that they had really good ice cream, especially their Salted Caramel. I, myself, am not a salted caramel person (I tried the one in Seattle that Obama made so popular, and I thought it was the pits!) - I decided to give it a chance after getting sucked in with a sample. It was so cold, creamy, sweet, and slightly salty at the same time. It was delicious, and you can tell that they made it right there on the premise. It seems to have only one size as I got the cup, but the total was about $4 and some change. Yummy! Definitely would go back for this treat. +Salted Caramel ice cream! read more

Great place, friendly staff. Very good ice cream. Lots of Chocolate(s). It wasn't too busy when we stopped in, even if it was busy would definitely return. read more

Highly recommend! Lots of flavors of ice cream, friendly staff, large selection of chocolate candies too.

A trip to Gettysburg is not complete without a stop at Kilwin's. What is not to love? Caramel apples are our favorites. I got the chocolate striped and my wife got a plain. Both were excellent as always. Didn't get ice cream this time, but would highly recommend it. Rum raisin is one of my go-to's. I'm so bummed that Kilwin's was out of business when we drove through there this summer. read more

Fantastic selection of ice cream. Cappuccino chip was nice and strong. Cherry was thick with cherry chunks. The lemon meringue was tangy and not over sweet. Gettysburg mud is cookies and cream with peanut butter which is genius! The Carmel apples all look so good it is hard to choose. And the fudge is killing me! I am blowing my diet today! read more

A large selection of ice cream flavors and ice cream products. Nice help. Clean store.

Great service and the ice cream was amazing! Definitely check this place out when you are in Gettysburg!

If you're in a touristy area, you are likely to stumble upon a Kilwins. Originally from Petoskey Michigan, this confectionery has it all: chocolates, truffles, fudge, salt water taffy, ice cream, ect. I usually stop in to buy presents to bring back to satiate my coworkers' inextinguishable lust for sweets. If you know someone from Michigan bring them some Mackinac Island Fudge or take them here for Traverse City Cherry ice cream and you'll be aces in their book. I love the variety of items available, but it is a little on the pricey side. Taste wise it's pretty good, perhaps a little too sweet, especially if you usually go for something like an 80% Dark Chocolate. This location is clean and well organized, and the staff was super friendly and helpful in recommending local restaurants. read more

Delicious homemade ice cream and candy. Not much indoor seating there is only a bench to sit on inside. Outdoor seating is needed here.

Not a huge ice cream person... As soon as you walk into this place you know it is going to be a good experience... the aroma is ... ahhhhh so amazing. Chocolate, fudge and ice cream. But this place was very creamy and the ice cream was clearly fresh and homemade. I had the roasted coconut ice cream and it had a ton of pieces of toasted coconuts. I also had the Gettysburg mud... which was Carmel and chocolate... very tasty as well. read more

The first time I went to Kilwin's was on my honeymoon in Saugatuck MI. I was so excited to see one while on vacation in Gettysburg last weekend! I absolutely love their ice cream. Also if you haven't satiated your sweet tooth with the ice cream try their fudge. I bought a bunch while I was there and took it home! read more

BOGO Wednesdays? Two waffle cones please! Kilwin's is a chain on the east coast serving up generally tasty ice cream on the east coast. However, the service, taste, and portion of ice cream in Gettysburg is unmatched compared to other locations along the coast. Here, one scoop is a generous portion that'll make any adult all too happy to have coincidentally walked in on a Wednesday! The chocolate peanut butter was the winner for me and the banana fudge pie (or something) won the husband over...but I think he liked my ice cream better than his. At any rate; need ice cream? Go here! $6 read more

Super cute candy and ice cream shop located in downtown Gettysburg. I love the feeling of stepping back in time! They have so many yummy goodies, and the ice cream is amazing! The smell of fresh waffle cones will make you fall in love! I only give this 4 stars since the service seems to be iffy each time. BUT the goodies are so worth looking over that small flaw. read more

Stopped in here while visiting Gettysburg and I'm so glad I did! The workers were very nice and the ice cream selection was really, really good. I got a half salted caramel and half coconut waffle cone and it was probably the best ice cream I've ever had in my life. I definitely recommend this place if you're in downtown Gettysburg and you have a craving for some delicious ice cream! read more

I don't want this review to be one-sided. So, I'll start off by saying that the truffles and ice cream was amazing. The service was also very pleasant. HOWEVER, when my daughter asked to use their restroom, she was not allowed. Both she and I asked and were told that they have no public restrooms. I understand that, but being that it was a 12 year old girl asking, I think they could've made an exception. For those of you who say,"She could've held it.", I'll respond with,"Not that particular week." The person we spoke to claimed to be the owner. If this is true, he should learn about going the extra mile for his customers and we will never return. Stopped in for an ice cream after dinner and found the service here to be superior. As with many ice cream places, the tastes are free, so we tried a few and then got a waffle cone. Delicious, if not a tad expensive. As is to be expected, the place is overrun with tourists, but the young girls behind the counter maintained a positive and helpful attitude above and beyond what I would have expected of people their age, despite the generally negative tone of the tourists. read more

Tasty ice cream, friendly service. Even had Mackinac Island Fudge in Gettysburg.

Stopped here on our way north on route 15. Only a few minutes off the highway, and you get to see some of Gettysburg as a bonus. Great flavor filled choices if home made ice cream in an old fashioned candy store. Fresh Fudge and Candy Apples too. YUM read more

Of the several ice cream places, I chose to go here and I'm so glad I did. There were many flavors of homemade ice cream--I tried the Gettysburg Mud (vanilla with caramel and chocolate shavings-yum!). It was perfect for after dinner and before the candlelight walking tour. read more

Great place to eat dessert. Me and my wife have the ice cream EVERYTIME! It's perfect. I never had ice pieces in my ice cream ... Not once and we visit every year ( Most Ice Cream shops we go to dont keep their ice cream at the right temperature ... Which results in pieces of hard ice in our ice cream ). You can tell Kilwin's really takes pride in their Ice Cream. That's why when we go to Gettysburg this is the 1st place we visit, even before the museum. This is a MUST VISIT. Btw get the waffle cone... IT'S DELICIOUS!!! read more

The Salted Caramel is awesome! The Salted Caramel Ice cream is even better.

Best ice cream around. Friendly service and samples to help you decided but I think it only made it harder. Going back for some fudge later. Benches out front are appreciated. read more

We stop at Kilwin's at least once, sometimes more, every time we visit Gettysburg (at least once a year). My favorite is the Gettysburg Mud. My buddy likes the Peach and the Key Lime. My sis had something Chocolate with caramel in ot and loooved it. There is an ice cream place right next door(Sunset?), but i have never been in it, and never see anyone go in there. There are always people at Kilwin's. read more

Best ice cream in the area. Their salted caramel is incredible!!! They also offer fudge and chocolates that are delicious. And they have a marble table to let visitors watch them make up all their treats! A must for anyone stopping in to Gettysburg. read more

Omg. Omg. Omg. The toasted coconut ice cream was amazing! It was actually toasty crunchy and the perfect amount of sweetness and creamy . I rarely eat real ice cream but I'm afraid that every time I visit Gettysburg I will have to stop . So in order to keep my girlish figure I will probably not go back to Gettysburg for a while because I don't have very good self control . My friend got chocolate and peanut butter and didn't even give me a bite he loved it that much. I got a few pieces of chocolate and didn't have to buy a minimum which is always nice. read more

On Thursdays, if you buy 1 piece of fudge, you get 1 free! The piece of fudge is about 1/2 a pound and they charge $16.50 a pound. I had the double dark chocolate for both pieces. It is very sweet. This is my first piece of fudge and I have no clue how I will finish the rest of it since it is too sweet for me but the sign says it lasts 6 - 8 days so I have time to finish it. The saleswoman was a little weird. We asked to confirm it is buy 1 get 1 free and when she said yes, we pointed to the one we wanted. After we got 1 piece, she asked if we wanted the second piece. Who says no to free food after they fulfilled the paying criteria? I was more excited about a free half pound of fudge! read more

By far the best experience in town. The employees are always eager to help and very friendly. They even let you try samples before deciding on a flavor. I didn't push my luck with this, but quickly decided on the Salted Caramel ice cream. The smell was heavenly as well - chocolate, waffle cones, popcorn - I had to be carried out. Definitely a must go when visiting Gettysburg! read more

Cute place, but no vanilla ice cream, really? Way too pricey as well. An average size shake was $6.89. No thanks.

My girlfriend and I stopped in here after dinner the other night. We walked in and were pleasantly surprised to find out from the kind employee that it was buy one get one free waffle cone. Seeing how this is the reason why we had wanted to try it, we both ordered a waffle cone. I had turtle cheesecake with salted Carmel and my girlfriend had Gettysburg mud with salted Carmel. We both agreed the salted Carmel was delicious. The only downfall was it was very messy ha. read more
