With just two weeks notice, Sweeter than Sap agreed to make this gorgeous surprise engagement cake for my friends. I requested a vintage heart cake with lots of piping, and the cake far exceeded expectations! We went with a vanilla cake with chocolate ganache - everyone raved! A few friends said they "aren't even cake people" and went back for seconds. Thank you for making this celebration extra special!!! Would absolutely order again. read more

This was first actual visit inside of Sweeter Than Sap, although I'd partaken of some of their goodies prior to today. 'Twas a rainy Saturday in mid-May when, after shopping, some sweet treats seemed to be in order. The store is small and an approximately equal-sized kitchen is on the other side. The glass case had a nice assortment of delectable goodies. As expected, inside smelled delicious and the interior was inviting. I didnt catch the name of the nice lady behind the counter, although she was most pleasant, affable, and helpful. She did comment that although not the owner, she enjoys working in such a tasty environment. I decided on a piece of strawberry cheesecake, and one each of peanut butter, sugar and oatmeal cookie. I'll definitely come back. Please check ot out! read more

I had Sweeter Than SAP make a birthday cake for my mother's 90th birthday. Communication with them was easy, and the cake was exactly what I'd hoped for and a big hit with everyone at the celebration. I knew I wanted to have them make the cake, because all their products taste so fresh and not like they are just overloaded with sugar. As my nephew, who has been through culinary school, said, "This is how buttercream is supposed to be." It was a delicious and gorgeous cake! read more

I was visiting Gettysburg and had a craving for something sweet. So of course......Sweeter than SAP! I had never visited this charming little shop but was happy to try out a few of the sweets on display! I couldn't resist the Cinnamon Roll and it was the BEST I have ever had...anywhere! I also tried a little strawberry delight with ripe strawberries and cream and it was also delicious! Everything looked so good and I wish I had purchased a few more items to take home! Delighted to have found this wonderful little bakery! If you are anywhere near Gettysburg be sure to stop by and enjoy some of the many items they offer! Just an Update: Sweeter than SAP has moved to a new location! New Location is larger with lots of parking! 756 York Road, Gettysburg, PA read more

I missed the window to order a cake for a birthday but STS squeezed in an order of a dozen cupcakes for me! I really appreciated that! Not to mention I just love the Wedding Cake flavor with the vanilla buttercream frosting!! This is our 3rd time purchasing from them and will definitely keep it going. read more

Lovely little bakery with amazing cinnamon buns and other treats. Service was great - helpful, friendly staff. Shared at a large breakfast gathering and there were many compliments! read more

The best cinnamon rolls north of the Mason Dixon line. Nice people who just happen to be excellent bakers.

I thought they were so good! My mom stopped to bring home a small treat for my birthday. My choices came down to the strawberry shortcake and the cheesecake... so we got both! I loved the strawberry shortcake. Would absolutely get again. I also really loved the cheesecake. It was a little denser than you might expect but it tasted so good. Would recommend. read more

Highly recommend this local bakery! If you're visiting the town, if you live here--Sweeter Than Sap is a special treat. It's not cheap. But it's worth every penny. I generally don't like cream frosting on cupcakes, as it's usually way too sweet. I ate every bite of the frosting on my cupcake! Also bought eclairs, which again are on the pricey side. Oh my goodness! I felt like I was in Europe! I don't know the young owner-baker personally (yet). All I can say: I wish her the best of luck and success. She clearly knows what she's doing. By the way, I also appreciated how the cashier identifies with the business. She's not a baker, not the founder. But she's proud of Sweeter! Nice to see. No ambience as such to report on, except that you're most definitely made to feel welcome. read more

Yum, just... yum. We are visiting Gburg and local family came by our bnb & brought cheesecake & cookies. We started sampling the cheesecake before dinner, and then had to go buy more quick before they closed. And we still have no leftovers. Local Gburgers, run- don't walk- to SwS! I'm only happy I don't live here b/c I'd weigh 100k pounds. Enjoy your gem of a dessert shop! read more

My wife and I were passing through Gettysburg earlier today and I happened to pull right up in front of this place; before I could ask her where she was going, she charged straight in! About 15 minutes later she strolled out with a STACK of treats. The cheesecakes (peanut butter Oreo and pumpkin) were delicious! My wife also purchased a cream puff, cookies, and cinnamon roll. Can't speak to the cookies and roll (yet), but the cream puff was just as delicious as the cheesecakes. My wife said it was the perfect amount of sweet. read more

Sweeter Than Sap - Didn't think to snap a pic as I was enjoying our delectable desserts so here's what's left - Bakeries Near Me - Gettysburg, Pennsylvania

Such a sweet spot to stop in at! The decor is simple and charming, creating a cozy space while still letting the display case shine. We had the best experience with the extra friendly staff treating us like their own family. The sugar cookies were SO DELICIOUS that we had to go back the next day to get more to give Santa on his big night. They've got a perfect crunch on the edges while super soft and chewy on the inside, then they take it further and roll it in sugar! YUM! You've got a regular customer here read more

Sweeter Than Sap - Cookies - Bakeries Near Me - Gettysburg, Pennsylvania

I had the opportunity to recently try multiple items from this place, five to be precise. I would love to say this is a great place to visit and try, but this young owner has much work to do. The items were a complete failure and was verified by all of us, 5, who tried it. We all agree. We tried the cupcake and it was rather bland and dry. Sigh. The cheesecake was bland and just not good, and the one member of our party commented that my cheesecake is far better. This just shouldn't be. There was a coffee cake (?) that was very dry and not flavorful. The brownie was the best of the worst. I am not professionally trained as a pastry chef and do not bake full-time, and if my "creations" are far better than hers then I think she needs to review her recipes. Now, her decorations are wonderful! But when I am tasting butterscotch only to be told by the person who ordered the item that it was vanilla bean then there is something wrong. I truly wish the owner were to read this and re-evaluate their process. I could not finish any of it and was turned off of pastries and such for the day. I don't want dry and flavorless foods or tastes that aren't supposed to be what I am tasting. If family members are being kind then they shouldn't. Reflect and correct as the portfolio shows beautiful visual work. Design for show, taste for dough. read more

I rarely write reviews because honestly I don't care. But if something is amazingly good or bad I will take the time to do so. But there cinnamon roll, I would literally make a special trip to town just for it i'm probably pay double what they charge. The cookies are also amazing and my son loves their cupcakes. Oh I almost forgot my dad is addicted to their eclairs. Overall amazing and staff is just as great. read more

Placed an order over the phone to be delivered as a thank you. They were so helpful suggesting what would be best. Their customer service was outstanding and I heard the cupcakes I sent were a big hit! read more

The cookies and cupcakes from this place are absolutely delicious. My new favorite place.

AMAZING desserts. I chose them for my wedding without doing a tasting since I don't live in the area and there was not a single dessert left at the end of the night. Everyone loved them! I stopped by their cute shop to finally meet the owner and mother and they were so kind and sweet just as they were on the phone during wedding planning. Highly recommend! read more
