My cousin comes here every weekend religiously. I UNDERSTAND WHY. Every time I visit her I look forward to see what they have concocted for the week! Or maybe it's day? I'm not sure! But they're always rotating what's on the menu and every single time it feels like it just gets more delicious than the last, which I didn't think was possible! 10/10 overall experience for taste, service, ambiance, ALL OF IT!! Besides their delicious pastries, both savory and sweet- they have a lovely assortment of goods to browse and a wide assortment of fun foods like tamales and ice cream sandwiches! My son's wife started a family tradition of a custom cake many years ago. Each cake was our 'favorite'. For my birthday this year, son and his family ordered cake based on my love of coffee. Thank you for creating such a beautiful and extraordinarily delicious custom cake based on my favorite dessert, tiramisu, and my love of coffee You captured everything perfectly. It was not only stunning to look at but every bite was absolutely amazing. Your talent, creativity, and attention to detail made my celebration even more special. Thank you for sharing your gift and making such a memorable cake! The gesture made this year even more meaningful. read more

Best soft icecream and dipped icecream in the area. You must stop in and browse the items for sale or get a bite to eat.

Excellent pastries by an excellent pastry chef, and the best espresso in south central PA. Good service in a lovely bakery shop,

We go here almost every Saturday. I have tried SO many items and never had a bad thing here. Something you expect to find in a big city but much more reasonable prices. Monique is amazing and always has a smile on her face! read more

Outstanding bakery. After reading reviews , we visited the other day. Bought some scones, brownies, cookies and something else that was all fabulous. Server answered all questions and was very nice. The store was very clean and well lit. Local milk among other things. Will watch facebook for specials and visit again in the near future. Great small business. read more

A bit pricey for the area but not really for a niche bakery. And honestly, you won't care once you put one of these little bites of bliss in your face. Just go. You won't regret it. read more

I got married on 8-10-2019 and Gateau Monique did my three tier wedding cake for me. Monique was so friendly and made us an absolutely beautiful wedding cake. She did exactly what we asked for. We got a white cake, with chocolate mouse filling and buttercream frosting. It tasted so delicious. We froze the top tier for our one year anniversary which we will try soon. This year we did place an order for custom cupcakes the exact way we had our wedding cake to serve at an anniversary get together we had with our Family and they tasted great too. We love this little bakery. read more

Can't say enough of the quality and goodness of their products. Staff is friendly and great helping a small local business

Needed a cake for a special birthday celebration, and this cake delivered. It was delicious, moist and pretty. She has a great selection of flavors for cake and filling, which allows to you make it unique. I will be buying more pastries at this Littlestown gem. read more

This bakery is a gem. We were passing through this morning and stopped for a to go pastry type breakfast. The selection was amazing. The gentleman that helped us was knowledgeable and very friendly and helpful. The scones were the most delicious we have ever tasted! Everything we got did not disappoint event the iced coffee was a stand out! This is a bakery we will be going out of our way to visit again and again and keep in mind for events! My only disappointment is that it is not closer to my home! read more

Everything I have tried has been excellent. My favorite is the chocolate chip scone but that is one of more than a dozen different items that they have on any given day. Their fruit pastries are also excellent as are there cookies. They also have a really, really good apple crumble and you can get delicious milk from a local dairy in returnable bottles. Cliff, the nice young man that works the counter is a pleasure to meet and the stores namesake, Monique is always close by, running the kitchen during the week or behind the counter on Saturday. She is always pleasant and the place has the feel of an old french bakery. It's quite nice. It's a little more pricey than the grocery store bakery but you definitely are getting a way better product plus Monique is local and we really need to support local businesses before all we have are Walmarts. read more

Outstanding selection of both sweet and savory pastries. Beautiful scones and croissants. Outstanding custom cakes and special orders are available. Great customer service and such a quaint atmosphere. Love the tea selections too! read more

Without doubt, the best maker of pastries in the area. Monique's products are both beautiful and delicious. And her cakes are exceptional.

Make sure to call because Yelp said they were closed today (Wednesday) but the bakery was in fact open. I have only stopped in once, but it will not be my last visit! This little bakery is a jewel box. I tasted two varieties of scones today. They were fresh and packed with flavor. The baker/owner is friendly and a delight to meet. It's mainly a take-away operation, but in good weather you can enjoy your treat with coffee at a few outdoor tables. My family lives nearby and they say the menu varies, so there is always something new to taste. read more

The bakery is beautifully decorated. Very clean and every item I have received has been amazing

I stopped in here on Monday and got 2 blackberry scones and one Madeleine and the scones were amazing and the Madeleine was excellent too! I will be returning for more. I make my own Madeleine's and have yet to buy one out that is as good as mine, but these were just as good as my homemade ones. I can't wait to try more of your goodies! Who would have thought I would find such a gem of a bakery just a few miles from home in the country? Wow and Thank You is all I can say. read more

Amazing little bakery on 97. Monique and the rest of the staff are super friendly. I've tried their bacon-cheddar poptarts, toffee brownies, and cookies. All have been super delicious. They also have homemade PB-banana dog treats for $1. Decent prices since everything is made from scratch and very high quality. I always look forward to stopping by when I'm in the area. read more

We worked with Monique at Gateau Monique to create a dessert buffet for our wedding. Everything was phenomenal! And we had a little bit of everything - 2 types of cupcakes, espresso mousse, fruit tarts, and mini cheesecakes. The cheesecakes were my husband's favorite, but I like the chocolate peanut butter cupcakes the best - yum!!! The desserts also looked beautiful and were artfully arranged on the table. I would highly recommend Gateau Monique's desserts and I cannot wait to visit the shop in person some day! Thanks, Monique!!!! read more

Wonderful bakery. Although known for their sweets the breads and savory scones are terrific. Closed Wednesdays.

Monique is a very talented, classically trained chef. She made our wedding cakes, all of the cakes were amazing and beautiful. Her vanilla cake with cream cheese icing is the best! Her cakes are made to order, but if you stop in she will have many individual options such as brownies or lemon bars. I highly recommend. read more

An exceptional uplift to the Littlestown area. I stumbled upon this cozy little bakery while painting a nearby house and it quickly became a routine visit on my lunch break. I've tried the lemon bars, bread pudding (that the owner politely warmed up for me), coffee, and a few other pastries which I cannot recall the names of, all of which I found to be more than satisfying. Along with the decor and pleasant customer service any short- comings can only be due to it being slightly ahead of its time. I hope that this is the start of many better things to come in this small town and can't wait to return for more coffee and a new fresh pastry! read more

We were thrilled to discover Monique's bakery and were even more impressed by her options for cakes. We showed up with online pictures of "naked" style cakes, and she was very flexible and open with discussing ways to go about designing such a cake. Between the wonderful little storefront, the affordable price point for the cake, and the availability of flavors (coconut cream was our favorite!) we would absolutely, 100% recommend Monique for all your fancy cake needs! read more
