Absolutely incredible wedding cake. Had a great time sitting down in the shop to try every combination under the sun with an ice cold glass of milk. At the wedding I do not think a single piece of cake was uneaten. Fondant and all! Slices were disappearing before any more could even be cut! I tasted these cupcakes at a wedding expo and fell in love with the turtle flavor. On a random day, I came here to buy a rack of cupcakes and to see what else they had to offer. I must have gotten a bad batch this time around because most of the flavors were dry or just underwhelming in texture and flavor. I don't give up easily on places, so I would come back to give them another try. They are just not the best cupcakes I've ever had--especially compared to what I tasted at the expo. read more

We got a mix of 4 cupcakes at the Sunday Funday event at the Carroll County Farm Museum. "Death for Chocolate" is to die for! So ooeey-gooey chocolatey. The "S'mores" had those marshmallows that added a nice texture, and the carrot cake was not too nutty (which we like!). The coconut cream was light and airy with its subtle flavoring. Had some cupcakes from here at a festival - gingerbread and the salted caramel were some of the best cupcakes we've ever had. The gingerbread was perfectly spiced and the sweet frosting balanced out the spiciness of the cake. Salted caramel had caramel in the middle which was a surprise. Have sampled a variety of cupcakes (Red Velvet oh my YUM!), scones, cookies (Snickerdoodles for the win), and loaf cakes. Their prices are in line with portions and the fact that try to use locally sourced ingredients is a real draw for me. We ordered our wedding cake from here and had a mixed experience. The tasting was well-planned and delicious, everyone was pleasant to work with, and the design of the cake turned out very nicely (though it was a little lopsided probably due to the heat). However, we didn't get the cake flavor we ordered. When I discussed this with them, they tested some things out and discovered that the almond extract used, when made in large quantities, was not noticeable to taste. I appreciate them looking into this and resolving the problem for future couples, but the fact still stands that 100 people didn't get to taste that delicious almond flavoring we paid for and the cake was very lackluster. read more

Conducting a wedding consultation tasting, we were super pleased with the experience. At first we were given 4 cupcakes to choose, I did worry for a bit that it wouldn't be enough to give me a range of insight. But turns out they slow roll you and then surprise you with personalized ideas. Once we reviewed more of the wedding our lady just wildly over fed us discussing idea after idea by bringing new cupcakes out. We ended up trying 7 cupcakes and were even given 4 to take home. Then when she discovered we were going to a festival nearby, she had us stop at the truck to pick up 4 more to take home they didnt have in store. That was 15 cupcakes! The overall service of it all, from the yums to the insight, was amazing because how sweet they were to not constrict you, really listen to you, and not charge you a pre wedding deposit. (Plus for the actual evenr they throw in displays! It's definitely a kinder customer approach than your average large shop nickle and dime any add on) The cupcakes themselves were the epitome of homemade, mom and pop goodness (and you get high quality at lower prices. They don't get all uppity with extra flavors extra prices, bonus ingredients an additional cost etc. You can have your hearts desire for one flat cost.) But anyways each cupcake had a unique filler inside. It was like a surprise in each cupcake?! How would they top the amazing frosting, add more! For example, as if the smores crumble wasnt delicious enough there is ganache inside for a burst of flavor. The sandwiches are excellent the people are friendly but go there for the cream of crab soup. I've eaten crab soup up and down the east coast from New Orleans to Maine. This place is incredible! We had Stone House make all of the desserts for our New Years Day wedding, and to say that everything was perfect is an understatement. When we originally called to inquire about catering, the staff was so friendly and helpful through the phone. We set up a time to come in and try some desserts, and Lois was the sweetest person ever and gave us SO many things to try. We instantly knew that we wanted them to make our cake and desserts. Their turtle cupcakes are to die for, and all of the cookies, trifles and crime brûlée's that we ordered went over so well with our guests. The dessert was seriously the highlight of our wedding. I have had friends asking me where we got them from and I know many of them have already gone to the bakery to get some for themselves. My wife's best friend got her wedding cake from Stone House, and there was actually a physical altercation over who was able to take home a piece. If a fight broke out over cake, we knew we had to investigate. We were invited to have a tasting before we ordered our cake, and the owner made us nearly a dozen combinations of cake flavors and icings to choose from. The hardest part was narrowing down which flavors we wanted. Luckily, we were able to make each tier a different flavor. The price was very reasonable, and the cake was beautiful and delicious. At many weddings, the cake is just a mediocre event on the timeline that people could do with or without. However, if you order from here, everyone will be asking where you got it from! Our wedding was in Bel Air, and the staff was more than accommodating to get our cake delivered on time. I'm actually writing this review on our 1st Anniversary. My family has tried assorted bakeries for weddings and birthdays. We came across this bakery at one of the Howard County farmer's markets. The cupcakes were devilishly delicious. Instead of ordering an over-the-top wedding cake for our daughter's wedding, we ordered 3 round layer cakes including a divine lemon layer cake, a rum and apple cake which is the best cake most of us have ever had, and the orange dreamsicle cake which is a close second to the rum and apple. Man, that lemon was good, too. It's really hard to decide which was the best. They brought the cakes to the farmer's market in Howard County on a Saturday morning and we pick them up instead of having to drive to Taneytown. The owners are helpful, patient, inventive, creative, and make amazing cakes. Getting ready to order cake for an 80th birthday party and it's worth it to us to drive over an hour to pick it up instead of ordering from some of the great bakeries in the area. I was SO excited about the cake tasting and dessert part of the wedding (huge sweet tooth) and Stone House did not disappoint. We got married in Taneytown but looked at bakeries all over Maryland and I was shocked at some of the prices I found... for cakes.... Stone House was so incredibly reasonably priced, especially for the value. We went for a tasting and there was no way we could say no. Easily the best cake I've ever had and such unique flavors. Lois and the other woman working just kept bringing us cupcakes and cookies to try. We probably had about 6 or 7 total! We ended up choosing red velvet, almond raspberry, vanilla strawberry, and everyones favorite- Irish Car Bomb. We also did three different types of cookies, which were also delicious and so soft. Sometimes it can be hard to reach Lois but that's just life for a small town bakery I'm sure, I trusted her to deliver and she did not disappoint! Oh also, they do little pastry platters and sandwich trays which we did for the bridal party the day of for lunch and breakfast, worked out perfectly!
