Even when something wasn't to my taste, I'd come back and try something else--because that's what supporting small businesses looks like. I want local shops to thrive, not get swallowed up by big-box stores. That said, I was genuinely disappointed after seeing Jacquelyn's recent Facebook post. Everyone is entitled to personal opinions, but using a business platform to label people as "dangerous" and "unsafe" simply for having different views isn't community-building--it's divisive, and it's bad for business. Profiling customers and publicly signaling who is "acceptable" to walk through your door is not how you grow or sustain a welcoming business. As a result, I won't be spending my money here anymore, and I won't be recommending it to others. If the energy spent dividing the community were redirected into improving product quality--like making cakes that are actually moist and buttercream that doesn't resemble Play-Doh--it might do more good for the business than turning customers away. Supporting local businesses should feel inclusive, not conditional.

Overview: An absolute gem of a place in Hanover offering up locally roasted coffee, scrumptious cakes by the slice, and handmade cookies! Food: The Cake Bar's name says it all--they specialize in cake. But not just ordinary cake, their cake is all scratch made from sponge to fillings to icings. The cake itself is moist and flavorful, with fillings that perfectly pair and do not overwhelm. But the best part is the beautiful Italian meringue buttercream. It's heavenly. The Cake Bar also sells the most delectable cookies in a variety of flavors. Chocolate chip is obviously my favorite but I have to give a plug for the naturally gluten-free peanut butter cookies--amazing! The coffee is locally sourced from Square One Coffee Roasters in Lancaster and can be made into various delightful drinks that pair perfectly with a slice of cake. If coffee isn't your thing, you can order milk that is served in a frosted glass! Specialty Orders: The Cake Bar takes orders for special cakes such a birthdays, anniversaries and weddings. I was lucky enough to have Amanda (the baker) make my wedding cake and cupcakes. People are still raving about them!!! Utter perfection! Cannot recommend her enough. Recommend: Chocolate Decadence Cake Vanilla Latte Chocolate Chip Cookie Atmosphere: The Cake Bar operates in the bottom of the old Wachovia Bank building in Hanover. I particularly love how they kept the old tall tables where customers would write checks and converted it into seating. So charming! What is particularly wonderful is the hours--they don't open until 3:00PM and stay open late. It's the perfect spot to stop for dessert after a dinner downtown or even for a yummy treat while visiting Timeline Arcade, which is just upstairs! Service: Service here is excellent. I have always had great quick, friendly service. read more

I didnt catch the name of the nice lady behind the counter, although she was most pleasant, affable, and helpful.
