This is probably the worst cake ever. This was my 2nd try and I'm not going for strike 3. Both visits I had 4 different flavors. Absolutely no taste. Why does the icing pull off in complete chunks? Eggnog Great eggnog flavor. The whipped cream like icing is light and fluffy. The cake itself was very dry. I even put it in the microwave for a few seconds to knock the chill and it was still dry. Peanut Butter Lovers This was the whole reason I stopped. Had I just had this cake alone it would've been a 5 star review. The chocolate cake was very moist, even after sitting in my fridge for 3 days (I ate the other slices first). Nice rich chocolate in the cake. The peanut butter mousse in the middle was airy and a great ratio of peanut butter. They had the same whipped cream frosting and topped it off with this peanut butter ganache type drizzle. This cake Fed My Soul!! Hands down the best cake on the menu and totally worth the drive. Pistachio Cranberry The white cake was still dry. Good amount of pistachios and cranberries in the slice. We had the Cake Bar make our wedding cake and some extra desserts for our wedding, and we were very pleased with the results. First, the cake was delicious - we got three tiers, each with its own flavor, and each was excellent. The lemon cake is a particular standout! We also got various assorted desserts to accompany the cake, such as cookies, cupcakes, and macarons. These were also great, and our guests snapped them up, the macarons especially! Finally, we asked them to make special favors for us - cookies decorated to look like our cats. We were very pleased with the result, and they turned out just about as cute as the real thing! Amanda met with us several times to help us work out the details and was very helpful. Overall we were very pleased with both the service and desserts we received, and we'll absolutely be stopping in next time we're in the area to grab a slice or two. read more

We stopped here for dessert after dinner. Destination dessert in Hanover is now one of my new favorite things. We ordered two slices-- white chocolate pumpkin cheesecake and Grandma's Fudge, which is a yellow cake with chocolate frosting. The service was fast and delightful, even though it was verging on their last hour open. Both tasted wonderful-- great textures, good frosting to cake ratio, and the cheesecake was topped with these sugared pecans which just made each bite. Truthfully, my favorite part of the experience was the frosted mug of milk to wash it all down. They were happy to give us a box for leftovers. It's a cozy little space where you can eat at the bar or at a variety of tables. They're family friendly and offer some gluten free options as well. The Cake Bar is definitely a new downtown gem, and I can't wait to try something different next time. We will be back! read more

They said a week notice and the cake was done the day I needed it and they even allowed me to pick it up that day even though they were closed and I thought that was so kind of them. I was so excited about this place because I am new to the area and love cake. The prices per slices were a little more than I anticipated, however, I purchased two different slices; Grandmas Chocolate Fudge cake some lemon poppy cake. They both did NOT taste good. The grandmas chocolate fudge icing was gritty and the cake was nothing to write home about. The other cake just was off-putting for some reason, the last was off. I do not like to waste food, or waste money, however I threw both of them out. I guess I am lucky, I won't have temptation near by, saving my waist and my bank account. Went to the handover dutch festival and thought I'd try the " Cake Bar"I had a piece of the Grandmas Chocolate Fudge cake and my husband had the Raspberry Delight. Don't waste your time on this cake. Mine was dry and the icing was gritty I had a bite of my husbands it was the same. The cakes are expensive and if this is what you get I would rather have a box cake anytime because it's 100 times better. I visited the cake bar last Friday evening I got 2 slices of cake one was the raspberry and the other was the Carrot cake. The raspberry cake seemed stale and the icing was really quite hard and tasteless. The carrot cake the cake part was good but it wasn't the right icing for the carrot cake also did not like that icing. Also fields a little pricey for a slice of cake and the location isn't very big.
