The farmhouse exchange is always a win. We came with our kids after a hike. We each made our own sandwiches and got drinks and chips. The food is totally affordable, there's so many combinations everyone is happy and the staff are always kind. We usually sit outside or take our food to go. There's a ton of candy / ice cream next store but not a lot of dye free options. read more

Driving down the highway we decided to stop for a restroom break and to grab some lunch. I just Googled "deli near me" and this popped up. We ordered sandwiches and shopped their meat selection. Spent over $100 on meats and cheeses, sat outside to eat our lunch, and I went back in to use the restroom. When I asked the first worker she just said we don't have public restrooms- with the snippiest tone. I casually asked the deli worker how they could serve lunch and not have a restroom. She honest to God said, "well I mean, you could go in the woods". As we were driving away we saw a man coming out of the woods zipping his pants. The food was fine, it just makes me wonder if this place even has running water for handwashing. read more

This place is adorable. I stopped by on my way to Catoctin Breeze Vineyard for some food and so glad I did. They have it all here! Candy galore, meat, sandwiches, baked goods, local goods, etc. I was tempted by the cookies but stuck to a sandwich. It was the perfect meal to have with my wine! I'll be back. read more

I used to come here a couple times a week for 2 years ago and I loved getting the huge, delicious sandwiches from the deli. The staff was always friendly and provided idle conversation during the transaction that was always pleasant. I changed jobs and I no longer frequent this area much anymore. I've by been three times in the last year and each experience gets more disappointing. Today we came after hiking in the area and we placed our order online for pick up. When we got there, they had no record that we had placed an order and they acted like we were completely stupid to suggest we had placed an online order and actually paid for it. After showing email confirmation, they finally pressed a couple buttons on the computer and four orders magically printed through the machine. No apology for making us feel stupid or acknowledging they made an error. We ordered a couple sandwiches and the bread, although it was very soft, was just so very dry. The sandwiches were flavorless and just overall very disappointing. The market still has lots of fun items like apple cider donuts for purchase and some farm fresh meat/cheese items, but the deli and customer service have just become too disappointing to bother coming back. The deli staff act so blasé and uninterested in continuing the previous level of excellent customer service. This is most definitely my last visit. I also kind of find it ridiculous that a place that serves food does not allow their paying customers to use the restroom if only just to wash their hands before consuming food on their patio. read more

Awesome little gem right off 15 in Thurmont. The candy/sweet shop and the Farmhouse Exchange are connected to one another and it's nearly a one stop shop for your sweet and savory desires. The candy side takes you back to your childhood as they have individual pieces of candy available over multiple tables. They also have some other gummies and such bagged up ready to go for you. They also offer fudge, jams, preservatives and tons of baking supplies for those at home bakers. What is also convenient is that you can pay for everything on one side! I took my candies and strolled over to the other side. They have tons of fresh meats (everything you can think of) along with tons of homemade breads, desserts, soups, and homemade sides. They also offer a full service deli counter where you can get your deli meats as well as hot and cold sandwiches. This shop is an amazing addition to the area! The panini I picked up for lunch was absolutely delicious. It was obvious the ingredients were fresh. Now it did take 20 minutes to receive it but it was only the shop's second day open, so I'm sure everyone is still learning. Not complaining but just something to consider if you need to be in and out quickly. The apple fry pie and whoopie pie I bought were also very tasty; like the panini, they were clearly made with fresh, quality ingredients and care. Can't wait to try an everything bagel in the morning! I didn't get everything I wanted since I've probably gained 10 pounds during quarantine but I've got my eye on the cinnamon rolls for my next visit. Prices were very fair. 2 paninis plus the other items in my photo came to under $25. I did not purchase meat and dairy but I checked the prices and they were comparable to similar items in a grocery store. read more

Great local country deli near Thurmont and the nearby attractions. I ordered a cold cut sandwich and my wife ordered the Sloppy Joe. Both were very good and prepared well. The store also has a wide selection of fresh made baked goods and locally-sourced meats. Oh yeah, there's a candy and liquor store next door. Great spot! read more

I asked and the employees why they do not kick them out as it is obviously a health hazard. they simply told me that they couldn't do a thing about it.
