My wife and I ordered the Old World Italian hoagie along with a hot roast beef and gravy grinder that was running as a special. While we waited, the staff was incredibly nice and helpful, and we took some time to browse their butcher case. Everything looked fantastic, and we ended up leaving with several packs of house made sausages that were too interesting to pass up, including a chicken crab cake sausage and a brisket cheddar. After a short wait, our subs were ready and they were both absolute units. Since they have a few two tops for the lunch crowd, we did not even make it to the car before digging in. The meats were perfectly layered so every bite was balanced and flavorful. No dead spots, no overwhelming salt bombs, just a beautifully constructed hoagie. The seeded buns were also top notch! I purchased two small steaks and cooked them up in the cast iron. It was undoubtedly the best steak I have ever had at home; it melted in my mouth! Just look at the marbling in the pictures. The meat at the store is some of the best quality I have seen and tasted. I've been a customer at the Butcher Block for 15 years…read more I've always enjoyed this store's selection of fresh meats and seafood as well as the large and comprehensive variety of other fresh, frozen, or prepackaged food items. I have especially liked the bone in prime rib roasts that the Butcher Block has prepared for me by cutting the roast away from the bone and then tying the roast and a fat cap back on the bone. It's also a special treat to be able to buy fresh Maine lobsters flown in overnight on those special days that the Butcher Block offers this item. The store's owner, Lorne Peters, has always been very cordial to me and very quick to rectify in a positive way any issues I have had with either the availability or quality of the items in his Butcher Shop.
