a fruit stand with apples and oranges

Came by since it's been two years. Been wanting to come back. The price is still 3$ per person and the large bag is 32$. For two people and a big bag that we ended up getting about 45-50 apples, I think it was worth it. There were a lot of apples on the ground and bugs flying around, but that seemed reasonable. The tractor ride is fun. Picking apples is fun. The whole experience was about 30-45 minutes to fill a big bag. We then shopped around the shop/store and the whiff of apple cider donuts just makes you hungry instantly. The outdoor activity on a good day makes this place an enjoyable place to visit.

    The STAWBERRY PIE.... FINISHED!

It's that time of year: October!!! Went on a Sunday and it was quite busy. Nothing too crazy as parking is available and lines weren't running too long. Beautiful atmosphere to relax, and enjoy the colors of nature or venture off to do something or eat something new. I bought the strawberry pie, LET ME SAY THAT AGAIN; *STRAWBERRY PIE.......... HANDS DOWN..... AMAZING ....... PAIR WITH: whip cream or vanilla ice cream, both lol I'm about 1hr away but worth the drive and you can't beat the scenery.

Some of my "go to" favorites.

I always stop at the Catoctin Mountain Market whenever I am in the area. The staff is friendly and the selection, especially in the Summer is outstanding. Their peaches are the best!

Catoctin Mountain Orchard is a great place to purchase and pick your own fresh produce. I've visited for several years to pick apples and have had a great experience each and every time. A tractor takes you to the picking sites and the staff members provide thorough directions. The apples are absolutely delicious and I was able to bake some great treats with them. The Orchard also has a store where you can buy a wealth of produce, baked goods, beverages and other treats - the apple cider slushies were very popular. The apple cider donuts never disappoint; they're a guaranteed purchase when I visit. If you're looking for a fun weekend activity with your family, friends and loved ones, Catoctin Mountain Orchard is a great place. Just be sure to visit the website to see what is in season if you want to pick your own fruit.

They are Extremely proud of their produce. Even more expensive than Wegmans! Cute place maybe great in the fall. But not this early in the summer.

During Off Season, open only Friday-Saturday-Sunday. As we walked into the market, the smell delicious fresh baked pie and apple cider donuts is all over! Have you tried freshly baked apple cider donuts? One wouldn't be enough, get at least 6! Get donuts with a sip of apple cider juice? Yuuum! We also got blueberries lemon buckle pie, it's so delicious with crumbles on top of the pie, and blueberries jam inside, all are melting in crunchy, sweet and tart deliciousness! These homemade frozen pie also available in the fridge, so you can get the fresh baked anytime at home without the huss and fuzz of messy dough. Different kinds of butters, jams, and apples are available at your choice! All are homemade! Can't wait until the farm is open all week long and you can walk into the orchard picking apples!

Located right off the road, they're very conveniently located and attracts lots of traffic that didn't even plan to go there. Store - great They have all sorts of produce, fruits from their orchard and jams/spreads. I also liked their baked goods such as fruit pie. Price wise they are very reasonable. 32 oz apple sauce is prized at $4 and tastes good. However, fresh fruits are very expensive here. I would still recommend this place.

Damaged peaches!!! They hide the bad ones on the bottom and worker (old lady) screams at you if you touch anything!!!

RUDE (RACIST) WORKERS! Avoid this place! They put the bruised and damaged peaches on the bottom of the box. Old lady screams at you for even touching the box you're going to purchase. Spent $19 for for spoiled peaches!

Best peaches anywhere and we absolutely look forward to purchasing several pecks of their freestone yellow variety every July and August! Employees are always friendly and helpful. The farm itself is beautiful with lovely views. Plenty of pick your own opportunities at this farm as well. We have been regulars for years - definitely worth the drive!

Amazing apple pie. I wish that the location was closer to DC so that I could easily purchase another one.

On one end they had hard cider, beer and wine for sale and a stage with live music which was nice. They also sell apple cider, apple cider donuts, and food. The fries were good but crap dip was a bit watery. There's a fire pit area for groups that you can reserve ahead. Great spot for date night or a family outing- there's a lot for kids to do- a pile of tires to climb, barrels for them to play with, a giant inflated pillow bounce area. They have a good variety of farm animals you can feed (goats, horses, bulls, etc). You can also pick sunflowers/wildflowers, go on a hay ride, do the corn maze, and there's a little train for kids. In the main building there's a small farm store with fresh kettle corn you can watch them pop on site, pastries jams etc. Only suggestion is to improve the crab dip and add more activities for adults. More of a one time visit spot, probably would only come back if they are other activities next year.

The better the bird the better the end result - and Hillside Turkey Farms has the best fresh birds around. I've been coming to Hillside since my dentist (a local who worked there as a kid, many, many years ago) recommended them. My Thanksgiving tradition involves picking up a fresh bird a few days before The Big Day after standing in line in the cold/rain/snow waiting to get in the store. Besides turkey (whole, breasts, parts; raw and smoked; sausage and broth and other finished products) they also offer chicken, duck, pork and beef. You can find cheaper (frozen) birds at big box groceries, but you will never find a better bird. Hillside has limited hours so check out their website before making the trek from wherever you are. Trust me, it'll be worth it!
