This really is the best breakfast! Coming in from out of town and people recommended this place, but I wasn't sure what to believe until I see it but not only was the service very good but the food was amazing. I wish they had this in my hometown.

Out front on a chilly late March Saturday morning

This was my first visit to Honeybees Restaurant, it having been a well-known hot dog store for many decades. Recently expanded (doubled in size) Honeybee is a nice addition to downtown Gettysburg. I went at 10AM on a sunny Saturday morning in late March when the tourists were in full bloom (ie a plethora of visitors), thus had to wait for approximately 15 minutes to be seated. The were about 8 people standing inside near the entrance when I immediately acknowledged by a staff member who took my name and said that it would be about a 30 minute wait. Every single table was occupied which I like to see in a small downtown business. What impressed me was that despite the hustling due to the amount of customers, every single employee smiled at some point including the college-age servers. (I say that because I am acclimated and conditioned to seeing employees who are resentful that they have employment.) Anyway, I was seated about 4 feet from the front entrance and it was a brisk 33 degrees outside, thus every time someone entered or exited, I received a highly invigorating arctic blast of fresh air. As soon as the previous guests stood up and meandered toward the front door, 2 employees proceeded to wipe off the table and seats which I thought was great except that my bum was subsequently dampened by the still wet seat. My order was taken promptly. I chose the egg white omelet with breakfast potatoes and whole wheat toast. The table had packets of jelley; I recall seeing grape, blackberry, and raspberry. I had to wait about 20 minutes for the order to arrive which was understandable due to every seat being occupied. Our young server, Kaitlin, was sufficiently attentive. My omelet was hot and tasty, and the serving size more than adequate. Kaitlin brought the check which she took to the register. A QR code on the bill option for payment would have been nice. I didn't take many indoor photos because I avoid posting a plethora of people's faces in my reviews if at all possible. Meter parking is available in downtown Gettysburg and please remember to feed the meters as parking violations are rigidly enforced in our historic borough. In summary, I rated Honeybees a 5 star and shall return. Know that they do take reservations and offer take out orders. Do check it out!

I highly suggest checking out this place for brunch or lunch. I was visiting my grandma over the weekend, and wanted to treat her for a mother's day lunch at a restaurant we have not been to before. I checked out The Honeybee online, and saw reviews about how the food is good, inexpensive, and large portions. Well sure enough these reviews were correct. However, before I get into the food, I want to highlight how amazing their customer service is. Every single person we met here were so sweet, and just lovely to talk to. My grandma has difficulty walking and has to use a walker. Well the restaurant has two steps you have to climb, my grandma was struggling to get up, and I was struggling to help her, carry up her walker, and hold the door. Within 30 seconds, 3 employees, and the owner came rushing over and were incredibly helpful. They were so sweet to us and let us pick any table and immediately treated us with water, and friendly conversation. Now for food, I got the chocolate chip pancakes with a side of sausage links. My grandma got a cheese burger and fries. She told me she never craves burgers but she something about this one stood out to her. She said it was so delicious, and especially loved the bun they used. She was able to take it home, as her burger was massive. My pancake was perfect, and the sausage links were steaming, and a great addition to my pancake. Both of our meals were less than $11 each. I cannot emphasize enough to come check them out, you will not be disappointed!

We stopped here for breakfast and this place was amazing! Food was delicious and fresh! Our server was fantastic! Coffee was great. If we are ever in the area again, we will be back!

Peach French Toast with pecans and pralines was absolutely delicious!

This place is just so cute from the outside and inside. This place was busy and the staff were quickly taking care of everyone. Our food and coffee were delicious! Our server Hanna was awesome, very friendly and made sure she checked back with us multiple times. My wife and I will be going back again while we are in town.

Great brunch spot in Gettysburg! They have regular and unique options for breakfast/brunch, fresh coffee and great service! Something for everyone. Great spot for families, couples or single diners. The bacon was a standout. Order a side and you'll have enough to share. The French toast is also a wonderful option and they have several to choose from. They have daily specials too! Large portions, great service and great coffee will perk you up for a day of exploring!

We had a very nice breakfast at this little diner. Our waitress Carmella was wonderful! The coffee was good. The eggs and home fries were as good as it gets. Yummy chia pudding, fresh fruit, and incredible bacon. The atmosphere is casual. They also serve lunch.

Eggs scrambled with cheese, sourdough toast, bacon and potatoes! The eggs were so fluffy and soft.

I can't tell you how many times that medium is what I usually get when requesting medium-rare at restaurants. There's a big difference between the two in terms of internal temperature, center color, and texture. This place knows how to properly cook a medium-rare burger, and for me, that's a sign of quality and sets it apart. The sidewinder fries are fab as are the homemade potato chips and either comes with burgers. The dressing on the coleslaw needs some seasoning, but the slaw itself is fresh and crunchy. The Maryland crab soup is pretty slammin', too. I favor the back dining room, not the bar (in front). These 2 areas have different vibes. The back room feels like the way a burger joint should be. The bar is, well, more bar-ish. One of the servers, Brody, provides exceptional service--a shout out to him. This establishment's name is playful and clearly informs the customer as to what their specialty is: hamburgers. I bought one of their T-shirts, perhaps that says it all.

I should've left and found another option altogether. We both ordered burgers (of course), his a bacon cheeseburger with fries and coleslaw, mine a patty melt on rye bread with Swiss cheese, fries and coleslaw. Both medium rare. Both came out medium well, no coleslaw, one invisible slice of cheese on each burger and white bread instead of rye on my patty melt. The grilled onions actually looked more like onion jam and the trays with black/white checkered paper this is served on looks like it's never seen a sponge or water. No, I can't recommend this place.

Pizza was delicious as usual and served within about 10 minutes after we arrived. The wait staff was very attentive and friendly. The charge for the meal was $30 plus a cash tip. I think this is a little expensive for a medium pizza and one drink however we can only eat half the pizza at one time, so we took the other half home with us and had it for lunch today and it was still excellent. This of course cuts the cost to about $15 per lunch which makes it very reasonable. Men's bathroom was very clean and neat. Try it you'll like it.

He went out of his way to scrounge one up for my daughter so she could work on her homework while we waited for our food. Shortly thereafter the food came out and we were able to indulge in a wonderful Italian sub and my daughter munched on the lettuce in the salad in the car. She commented how fresh the lettuce was and then when she got home, she devoured the baked ziti which she said was fantastic. One thing I will say is that the restaurant itself is very nice. The dining room is clean, updated, and has a newer feel rather than the classic old school diner atmosphere, which we really liked. Our waitress was also friendly, welcoming, and attentive throughout our visit. My husband's bagel sandwich with double sausage, egg, and cheese was excellent. It was easily the highlight of the meal. Everything else missed the mark. We both ordered home fries, but they were only lightly browned on top while the rest of the potatoes were saturated with what tasted like butter or oil. After one bite, neither of us could eat them. My two over medium eggs were cooked correctly, but the wheat toast was very thin and lacked the crisp texture you expect from toast. The biggest disappointment was the corned beef hash. I specifically ordered it well done and very crispy, but it was only browned on one side while the other side was still soft and undercooked. We asked if it could be cooked longer, but when it came back it wasn't much different. I took one more bite and still couldn't eat it. By the end of the meal, most of my breakfast and both orders of home fries were still on the plates, and my husband had only eaten his sandwich. We paid for the entire meal without complaint, but no one asked if something was wrong or why so much food had been left behind. A simple check in or offering to make things right would have made a big difference. We know every restaurant can have an off day, and we genuinely hope others have a better experience than we did. Unfortunately, after giving Gateway Diner two chances and leaving disappointed both times, we've decided it just isn't the place for us.
