    Turkey Reuben and potato salad
    Carey M.

We stopped here for a quick lunch after blueberry picking. I ordered a Turkey Reuben with potato salad. The Turkey on my Reuben was not lunch meat, it was fresh cooked Turkey. The potato salad was perfect PA Dutch style. The fries were fresh cut and really good. Service was quick and our waitress was friendly. The desserts sounded good but we were too full. Next time! Highly recommend this place for some good PA style cooking.

    With bacon!

The interior could use some upgrades...I think they were representing all major holidays at once in our late August visit. However, the service was pretty good, and the food was good, classic diner eats. I got blueberry pancakes, bacon, and two eggs over medium. I think they fry their bacon. Delicious! Pancakes were packed with blueberries and they popped in my mouth...yum! The eggs were well cooked, and come out unseasoned so you can season them yourself. Coffee tasted pretty fresh. The real winner was the bill was $12 for my husband and I. TWELVE DOLLARS! I will agree with another Yelp review on here, however, that said there is a lack of apple-themed food. They should probably do something about that. We will be back!

    Enjoyable breakfast

One of my favorite places for breakfast or brunch. Great home cooked meals with lots of apple country all around you.

We both went with the dinner specials, which were only 14.99 each and came with two sides. I ordered the ribs and my husband got the NY strip with butterfly shrimp. For the price, the portions were honestly huge. My ribs were fall off the bone tender and coated in a tangy BBQ sauce that had just the right balance of sweet and smoky. Easily one of the better diner style rib plates I have had. The fries were natural cut, perfectly seasoned, and had that ideal texture where they are pillowy inside with a light crisp on the outside. The succotash was simple but still good and comforting. My husband's steak was cooked to a perfect medium rare and had great flavor throughout. The butterfly shrimp were crispy and paired really well with the steak. His side salad was super fresh with iceberg lettuce, cucumber, tomato, onion, and shredded cheddar. I did not even get a photo of it because he immediately dug in and loved it. The service really stood out too. Everyone was so attentive and quick to help with anything we needed like extra napkins or more sauce. It felt very welcoming and genuinely cared for. The interior has that true hometown diner feel where it seems like everyone knows each other. It is mostly booths with some tables and even a classic counter with stools, which gives it that nostalgic diner vibe. With both meals and drinks, our total was under $40, which feels rare lately for portions and quality like this. This is one of those spots where you leave full, happy, and feeling like you got an actual deal. Definitely worth stopping in if you are in the area.

I ordered a plate of 6 scrambled eggs and a side of bacon. With only two cheese selections, I added Swiss instead of American cheese. He had a glass of water, I ordered coffee. When the food arrived, he said to try a bite - yep, his pancakes were rubbery and tasteless. I told him I was sorry and then we could get something else later. He just ate his bacon. My eggs were mostly Swiss cheese. More cheese than eggs, It's as if whoever plated this food could not have cared any less. Neither of us were interested in finishing our breakfast, but not to the point of posting a yelp review. My major complaint? We went up to pay and it was $35 - before tip. I was shocked and I said as much. The owner /manager explained that "adding 4 extra eggs and cheese was the difference." Just... Wow. "would you like to add a tip?" Ugh. I still added 20% as I'm not a cheapskate. Total was $42. Good job folks. Maybe your experience will be different. Maybe it was a one-time mistake. But they had a chance to make this right. I got Fire-hosed and that's on them. I'm local and might've become a regular. Looks like a win for the Starlite diner in Hanover.

Staff and regulars seem to know each other well, giving it a true mom-and-pop feel. We were warmly greeted and seated quickly. Drinks came out right away, and the service was attentive throughout our meal. I had the steak and eggs with house potatoes and toast. While I'm not sure it was actually ribeye as listed, it was tasty and well-priced. The brunch burger was also a hit, no complaints there! They offer a tempting variety of baked goods, including coconut cake, red velvet, and rice crispy treats, plus a fridge full of pies. You can also grab a T-shirt for $20 to celebrate their 40th anniversary. I'm planning to come back for lunch soon to try their award-winning chicken. Bonus: there's plenty of parking in the back.

But more people came in that last hour both for carry out and dine-in than was there when we arrived. They really should stay open longer on Sundays. Some staff are pleasant, some are surly. We ordered two burgers, one with waffle fries and one with chips. They were hot and delicious! My only complaint was the grilled onions on the Swiss burger were not tender--I think they were from the outermost skin of the onion. I literally could not bite through them but had to gobble them like spaghetti you can't break! Hubs ordered the Burger of the Week which had Doritos and was so large it came with a steak knife in it! Chips were fresh and waffle fries were perfect!
