Best value ever! We had 5 full brunch meals and paid $40. The Farmhouse buffet doesn't compare in cost. We had wonderful ground beef, meat stuffed omelet, gigantic pancakes, sunny side up eggs, toast, coffee, and sweet tea. Service was great! These girls do a fantastic job. The bathrooms are small, barely enough room to turn around in, but fully stocked, especially for women. Please, come in and leave a big tip. read more

My friend and I were riding motorcycles and found our regular lunch spot had closed. We decided to stop for lunch at the next open place and Book and Table was it This place was a rare find. Home cooked food, neighborhood restaurant and friendly service. They only serve breakfast and lunch, and man is it tasty. I had the hash special (corned beef) best ever. Smelled amazing but no one was willing to help us. We told the waitress we'd like to place an order to go and she just walked off. She didn't bring menus (we couldn't find any ourselves) and she told a customer waiting to pay that she was "frustrated" and looked over at us. We continued to stand there for quite some time until we gave up and walked out. We hope to try again another day since today was not our day to get breakfast there. We ate here once and because it was so good we came back again. Delightful little place full of charm. Reminded me of the bookstore in You Got Mail called Shop Around The Coerner. This is a small neighborhood restaurant where my group of 3 had breakfast on two visits during a recent stay in Fairfield. We had no problem being seated on either Friday or Saturday morning. Menu had standard offerings at good prices. Our food arrived promptly and was very satisfactory. As far as small town breakfast places go, this is as good as it gets. Everything is a mishmash of old furniture, country decorations and just a smattering of patriotism in a tip of the hat to nearby Gettysburg. The breakfast menu has all the usual suspects. Locals abound. I think I sat in a counter stool that "belongs" to a local, because the old guy sat right down next to me and kind of gave me the stinkeye...but didn't say anything about it. :) If I lived around there, I would be an every day regular. read more

A cute little place to visit for a delicious breakfast! Jen, our waitress was extremely genuine and friendly. My boyfriend had the Southwest omelette and was not disappointed. I had scramble eggs home fried potatoes and toast. The potatoes was awesome. My daughter had a sausage egg and cheese sandwich. She didn't care for the sausage but ate the rest. We ordered a vegetable egg white omelette and a 7 oz. cheeseburger. The burger is very good including the roll and fresh tomatoes. It was cooked medium-well by default. Next time I'd request medium. I ordered the # 5: 2 eggs, bacon, hashbrowns, (real potatoes), toast and a side of scrapple for 9-10 bucks; and the portions were more than adequate. The best part is the atmosphere; small, but still pleasant, friendly servers, and the food was delicious. Yum! Husband and I found this place while looking for a diner on our drive home after a night camping on the AT. We sat at the counter and got delicious pancakes. Blueberry ones are REALLY good - fresh blueberries mixed in - not a sweet, canned sauce poured over top. Service was a bit slow, but it was Memorial Day and we could see the one waitress working her tail off. Besides, the atmosphere was adorable. Good hashbrowns - onions mixed in and everything was perfectly tender. Do not expect fast service like Denny's, but they well make up for it in the quality from-scratch made food like your mom made. The corn beef hash was not on the menu but it was the best I had eaten in a very long time. The pancake and French toast was sweet and I loaded it with tons of butter and syrup. The omelet was really good too. Very cheesy. I would definitely come back. Big fan of the breakfast here. Great home fries, great omelets. Toast is oddly not-quite-toasted, but it's fine. Total bill is maybe a buck or two more than the Lincoln Diner, and the food is as good, if not a bit better. Depends on the day, and if you get the morning cook at the Lincoln - he's better than the evening cook. I find the payment system here odd. You pay at the counter when leaving, but there is never a check given. You're just supposed to KNOW. I think it's stupid and confusing. Give me the check, and tell me to pay up front, how hard is that? It's NOT just this specific waitress, I've eaten here about a half-dozen times, with maybe that many servers, and been miffed by this process every time. Regardless, it's a minor quibble. This is a great breakfast place. Never had a different meal, but the lunch specials look great and are pretty reasonably priced. read more
