It's your basic diner just off the tourist area in town. The place is clean and the prices are great. There appeared to be a lot of locals in here the morning we came in for lunch. Straight forward menu and friendly service all the way around. We had the Reuben and also the "Rachel" (turkey reuben) for lunch along with fries and onion rings. The food was awesome. I love an old school diner. The staff is super friendly and the order was correct. I got a western omelette with a side of crispy bacon. It was perfect. I had an orange juice to drink. It's from the machine but still pretty good. Parking is either on the street or a very tight parking lot on the side of the diner. Review The Lincoln Diner in Gettysburg,PA has an old fashioned lunch counter section and a regular dining section. The food selection is the same for both. There is breakfast all day, hours 7 am to 9 pm, and a family friendly atmosphere. No alcohol served here. First off, the coffee is really good. No fancy specialty coffee, but the flavor is indicative of a freshly ground beans. Our waitress was absolutely a scholar of the menu and knew every combination backwards and forwards. She and her trainee refilled drinks at the proper times, got us our food quickly (still hot), and was so nice! The menu was wide ranging from all day breakfast to a traditional steak dinner. The Lincoln Diner also has a Greek flair to it (the current owners are from Greece) with Gyros and Spanakopita available. Portions sizes were very large. I got a Gyro, wife a Philly Cheesesteak sandwich, spaghetti and meatballs for the youngest, and breakfast French Toast and eggs for the oldest. Everybody agreed the food was delicious. A large selection of pies and cake was available for dessert (we couldn't have any-too full!). And the price was a just right fit: around $56 for the four of us. The walls are sparsely decorated with a couple paintings/prints with a fresh coat of paint. Country music is piped in while we were there (neither good or bad depending on your music taste). My wife had the Florentine Benedict. The hollandaise was very thick and resembled a cheese sauce...but the flavor was all there. I had a ham steak (it was charred and delicious...bone-in!) with 3 perfectly cooked sunny eggs, and hash brown with a ton of fried onions. Stopped on a drive from Maryland to NY. Had a kid in the car craving chocolate chip pancakes. Beth, our server, was friendly and attentive, our food (omelette, French toast with bacon, chocolate chip and regular pancakes) was all delicious and cooked well. (I've definitely had some pretty bad diner omelettes and thankfully this one was perfect.) Despite the diner being super busy we were greeted, seated, and served promptly. I have never left a bad review with a servers name before, but Brenda was the worst server I have ever had. We come in and the place is busy. I would say typical for a tourist breakfast spot. We found our table around 9:40 and was handed some menus. We had time to decide what we wanted to eat, while our waitress kept walking by. At one point she even went to the table next to us, that had set down after us, to get their order. They were not ready, so she came and got our drink order. I told her we were ready to order our food as well. My youngest, 10, was up first. She tried to order her drink first and Brenda rudely said to give her the food order first. Ok... Everyone else gave food order and then drink order second. She came to me and I ordered my food with gluten free bread and I asked "can you make a note of a gluten allergy?" She then said "it's gluten free bread." My response "I know, but can you inform the kitchen my meal is for a gluten allergy for cross contamination." We got our drinks and while drinking our drinks, 4 other tables were filled around us. While waiting 4 of the 5 tables (that came in after us) around us got their food. At this point we have been in the restaurant for almost an hour. I told my husband we are leaving and finding something else. As I was on the phone looking for another place around us, our food finally came out at 9:47. Food was typical breakfast diner food. Nothing special. Looking at my receipt, our order was put in at 9:21. So I don't know if she just didn't put our order in when she took our order or what happened.
