We ordered the Presidential Breakfast, and I swear it came with its own zip code. Pancakes, French toast, eggs over easy, sunny-side-up eggs, corned beef hash, bacon, sausage links... enough food to feed three hungry people--and it actually did. Every bite was worth it. Shoutout to Brenda for the awesome service and to the house coffee for being the best cup in town. Great prices, huge portions, and zero regrets... except maybe wearing jeans with a button. If Abe Lincoln ate here, he'd have needed a nap before writing the Gettysburg Address.

I had the turkey with filling, mounded on a platter, under the traditional yellow green gravy. Delicious. My wife had the four-piece broasted chicken dinner (a whole half bird, easily 2 pounds of meat) with mashed potatoes, which served her for two additional meals. On the way out, we couldn't resist taking home one of their massive pieces of cheesecake on thick graham cracker crust (we passed on the offered fruit toppings). Later, when we checked into our campground and told the manager where we had dinner, he cracked, "did you get enough to eat?"

You should not leave hungry! The biscuits were my only disappointment--in spite of the bakery counter full of beautiful cakes and pastries, I don't think the biscuits were house made from scratch. They were split open and toasted--I have been eating biscuits for more than 60 years and the only time I have ever seen them served that way is when they are not fresh. And they had a doughy flavor at that. As my wife said, "when are you going to learn to not order biscuits when you are outside of the South?" Good point, dear. Get the toast.

When I asked if it would be possible to come to the restaurant next year on reservation day and make them in person, they said they only take reservations by phone and if that means that you never get a Thanksgiving reservation ever, that's just too bad because it's the luck of the draw. They offered for me and my family to come eat there the Sunday before and see Santa Claus. No thank you, I'll be going to another restaurant that is more accommodating on the actual holiday when it's important to have your family meal together.
