This place is very convenient off of the turnpike. Parking is easy. Ambience is casual, clean, and tidy. The desserts look fantastic. The service was friendly and our kind waitress treated us just like the many regulars there. We got our food quickly. The bill too. The fries are those kind that have like crumbles on them. Not my favorite but they were well fried. We had a burger that was a little overcooked and tasted just like one you could make at home. Also had a tuna melt. The bread was warm and toasted stout the tunela was cold. I found it odd that the tuna wasn't on the toast when it was "melted". Tasted good though. Stopped here on my way back to NJ from Pittsburgh. For a starter, I had the chicken rice soup that was homemade and pretty good. For lunch I had the fried chicken sandwich and my friend had the Rueben. Both were delicious. I would definitely come here again. Our waitress Kay was super sweet and an employee there for 20 yrs! It has a very quaint and homey-feeling, and the service and prices are just what you (might) expect for a family-run diner in the middle of the mountains. It seems to be a popular spot for hunters or skiers as they travel up-or-down the mountain for the weekend. All I can say is ....wow. This place had amazing food and I was not expecting that! We were driving from New York back to Pittsburgh when I had to get gas. I pulled off and drove behind a few buggy and horses. Apparently Amish live in the area which is always a good sign! Got gas at a gas station where you had to pay inside like the good old days. Saw a restaurant across the street and figured we'd take our chances. It did not disappoint! I got hot turkey sandwich, which was a piece of bread with shredded REAL TURKEY and another piece of bread on top, then chicken gravy over the top (seemed like the packet kind of yellow chicken gravy but it was GOOD) . My son got a cheesesteak hoagie and said it was really good. It was also real steak meat. The service was very prompt. The music was country music from the 1990s, which I absolutely love! The server was very kind. And the ice tea that I got was freshly brewed. The prices were really good also. I would make the 2 1/2 hour drive back just to eat at this restaurant! read more

For what it is, it's actually pretty good. Portions are huge, and the value for your dollar is definitely here. The servers are friendly, there were lots of specials to pick from and the menu covered pretty much anything you would want. I had the lasagna on special, and was blown away by how large it was. I also had some tasty cheeseburger soup. Overall I was pretty happy and the other three gentlemen I was with had no complaints either. The one thing everybody kept saying was wow that's a lot of food, so be prepared to take home leftovers. Off the beaten path near a disel station is this little gem of home like cooking. After enough gross road food I opted for this quaint restaurant and ordered a hot turkey sandwich imagining a few slices of dry turkey placed in a press to warm up. I couldnt have been more wrong. Suddenly before me was a steaming plate of both dark and light turkey pilled high between two slices of white bread completely covered in gravy with yummy fries on the side. Straight thanksgiving left over style. Couldnt come close to finishing my meal. My bf got the meatball sub which he scarffed down with the enthusiasm of a starved hound. A dinner with desserts will likely run you less than $40 and you will have leftovers when you leave. I got the open face roast beef for dinner, which was enough food to for three people. They have a large selection of desserts, but I must have chosen poorly since my lemon meringue pie wasn't very good. My friend ordered the chocolate peanut pie and said it was amazing. So us hikers, after a long day, we may stink, and our technical clothes may not be the most fashionable, but we're usually great tippers. I left no tip at the Path Valley Family Restaurant, and I'd like to tell you why. 2 stars for the food. Very large portions. Taste, about average; better than Denny's, but nothing special. -1 stars for the service. From the time we finished eating, to the time our server reappeared to ask if we needed anything (like the check), 45 minutes. My coffee sat empty for more than an hour. I tried desperately to make eye contact with every employee that past by our table, each one looked away. No 'can I help you?' no, 'can I get your server?' No nothing. And I'd intended to get desert, too. Thanks for nothing. So when I get to the register to pay, I'd intended to leave a minimal tip of a buck, at the very least for the kitchen staff. "I'm sorry, we don't take cards". Hey, its 2013, you need a scarlet letter on the door if you don't take plastic. Even in the middle of Appalachia, WV, they take credit cards. I don't carry much cash when I hike, because it isn't water-resistant. So that tears it, I only had cash from my buddy who'd given it to me for gas., otherwise, I'd be washing dishes I left the change (20 cents), but that's it. You'd think, with a Tuscarora trailhead within spitting distance, this place would be hiker friendly. Not so much. read more

Home cooked food in Amish fashion. The broasted chicken is very good (crispy, but not greasy). The meatloaf is delicious! The mashed potatoes may be instant, but you can skip 'em. The place is dirt cheap and very tasty. The desserts are homemade (except the cheesecake - try the lemon merengue or coconut cream - yum yum!) Myself and a friend went here tonight for dinner. Kinda a 'girls night' out . I live 90 min away and coming here is a special treat for me. They aren't always the friendliest, but I think that has a lot to do with being a small community and I get that . Anyway , the food is amazing, well priced and large portions. With the pandemic they are only at 25% capacity seating so we expected a lil wait . We went in and stood, and stood and stood waiting for nothing more than a acknowledgement . We never received it. The lady at the register asked one of the waitresses to seat us and she looked at us a few times but her phone was more important I guess? We left. It's sad that because they didn't know us, we weren't that important . I also guess they have all the business they need. Losing my business I'm sure is no big deal to them. I drove by this place on business -- hard to believe considering Dry Run is pretty much in the middle of nowhere -- and thought I'd check with coworkers who'd eaten here before. Being a sucker for small restaurants and diners, especially in the middle of nowhere, me and a buddy took a motorcycle trip from Harrisburg out the backroads and up and over the mountains and stopped at the Path Valley Family Restaurant for lunch and to warm up. What a great little place !! The coffee was fantastic with top-offs poured frequently. I got a reuben sandwich which was good corned beef -- not stringy or fatty at all. And my buddy got a turkey wrap which he said was great. Our food was ready in no time, the server was attentive and friendly, the restaurant was clean and the bill very reasonable. This is a gem placed among the rural byways. A Mennonite run restaurant it serves a range of fare that it all does well. Our group of twelve was served promptly, graciously and with great congeniality. I had the prime rib: it was fixed perfectly and their was plenty there. As an aside my side of fries was excellent.
