The service is friendly and quick. Very relatable. Professional but felt like family, felt like home. Had a seated quickly. Got us our drinks quickly. Good kids cup with fun straws for the little kids. Ask the right questions. They have a wide and delicious menu with omelettes and breakfasts that is delicious. The prices are excellent. Very, very worth the price. This is a fun family atmosphere, it's like a giant country kitchen sort of dining room room. They have small booths. They have big tables. They got a nice fireplace. I have to imagine that place is like Cracker Barrel expired to be like this. Not so much but it's meaningful stuff. I loved the brisket omelette. My little split a cookies and cream on it. They loved it. They cleared their plates quick quickly. She got apple crisp waffles, a.k.a. pancakes with abs, according to my little brother, my 14-year-old says five out of five stars I would go here again. My youngest says 10 out of five stars. Went to the AYCE crab leg and shrimp meal for the first time. It is held one Saturday a month. First time visiting location. Was very impressed with the food. The service was fantastic. Our wait staff checked up on us routinely to make sure we had enough to eat and drink. I looked at the rest of the menu and a number of items caught my eye. The prices were also very reasonable. Will definitely be back. I was told that they also cater. I am guessing food and pricing would be top notch. read more

Had the 3 meat sampler. I selected 2 portions of half rack ribs and the meatloaf. The ribs were good as was the Mac n cheese and hash brown casserole. The meatloaf was fair, but I'm not a big fan of chopped meat in any form due to the grease and all the negatives of meat in general, especially chopped meat and chicken. The server was a young woman who initially indicated her displeasure at my asking questions about the slight difference between the online and in restaurant menu (no senior citizen choices in the online version for example and a couple of other differences) she told me they don't like to advertise the senior menu (wow!). I guess that says something about senior citizen business but I'm unsure if it's good or negative. Another surprise came when I asked what the difference was in the number of ribs or weight between 1/4 rack and half rack choices. She to me 1/4 was 2 or 3 ribs and half rack was 2 or 3 as well. I tried to clarify in my head if it was literally by the bone or by weight. She became defensive and I could tell she wasn't happy with my question, drilling for a precise answer not a guess. But again rather than make her more perplexed or more unappreciative of my question I just chalked it up to today's generation and lower schooling on precision than my generation. That changed the relationship for the better and all was fine after. She was attentive to my requests and did a great job bringing everything correctly and the other things like wash n dry type towelettes for the rib eating. The place is located in a busy area. Has a nice, comfortable inside and is clean with plenty of room between tables/booths. It's a comfortable climate with the local country music station playing overhead the tables and booths. After realizing my server and I were from vastly different generations, things went better. I'll be back and I received recommend this establishment. read more

I ordered the Hot Roast Beef Sandwich. I received 2 very thin slices of fatty, grisly roast beef on 1 slice of bread with a tiny bit of gravy. Since they advertise "slow-roasted meats, I would have expected better roast beef. Also, a sandwich generally consists of 2 slices of bread. Definitely not worth $14.99, even with 2 sides. Also, the tables need to be cleaned and sanitized with clean, hot soapy water. Our table smelled like dirty, old sponge. We won't be back. read more

Pretty sure I just had a racist experience. - I started this after we walked out on our second visit, but decided to wait until we moved out of the tiny town before calling them out on it. The only thing comforting is driving by this place. I get it. If black pepper is considered spicy to you, you'll love it here! If you're Caucasian you'll get great service and seated before the interracial couple that's been waiting at least five minutes before an all white party arrived. Ample eye contact from my husband and I only to be looked over. Safe to say we left. This was our second visit here. First visit I had something with "dumplings" and he had the bbq. I don't like vinegar drowning my food so the bbq is gross. Waitstaff. Hm. Weird. But it's a common trend in that area. Wouldn't advise an ethnic family to stop there at all. Spend your money elsewhere where that has decent food and won't judge you based on color. read more

Don't judge a book by its cover. This is a great place for lunch if you are visiting LEAD and need something tasty, filling, and a decent price for lunch. The service is great, although time to wait for food can take longer if you have larger parties. I highly recommend one of the BBQ Platters if you are hungry. Several years ago, as we were driving to CT from OH, we had dinner at another Hickory Ridge restaurant in Carlyle, PA. It has since closed, but our destination today was Chambersburg, PA. I was very happy to see on YELP that the original Hickory Ridge restaurant was in Chambersburg, so we stopped for dinner. It was terrific, and very reasonable, especially if you order off the Senior's Menu. Wonderful selection. If you are passing through this area, and it is time for Breakfast, Lunch or Dinner, you can't go wrong eating at Hickory Ridge. All of the ladies serving, etc., were terrific. I have only had breakfast here once, on a Saturday morning. Seated quickly. Service was polite but slow and often confused. Place was clean and orderly. Bathrooms were clean. Food was a solid 2 stars. Average mid diner food. Bacon was OK. Pancakes and waffles were not great. Many offerings featuring an outrageous soaking/smothering in various high fructose corn syrup derivatives. Yuck. All the potatoes had a seriously weird smell and taste. The service was good on a busy Saturday evening. The restaurant is a locally business with two locations. The menu was large with many choices. We came here for breakfast about 10 a.m. on a Friday morning. We found this place on Yelp and thought we would check it out. It was not very busy and we were seated right away. We were given menus and our drink orders taken. We saw on Yelp that this was primarily a breakfast/brunch place. We were only given breakfast menus and did not ask for anything else so that's what we ordered from. My wife chose the cowboy Skillet and I chose the meat lovers skillet. Was in town for a resource fair and stopped by here for a quick lunch. Amazing find! The crab soup was SO good! Creamy and filled with crab and a bite of Old Bay! My son had the Crabby burger and Crabby Fries....seriously filled with crab! Charbroiled burger with an overlay of cheesy, creamy crab sauce and onion rings was, to quote my son, " out of this world"." Crabby fries were clearly fresh in-house made fries with the same crab sauce. SO GOOD! Service was fabulous--pleasant, efficient and clearly cared about customers. I don't get excited over veggie omelettes....but this was an exception. So fluffy, loaded with cheese and cooked perfectly. Even the presentation was great ‍ Our server was fast and super friendly. We stopped as we were passing through on our way to Charlotte. I live about an hour and a half away, but definitely have this gem locked in for future reference when passing through. I visited the Hickory Ridge in Carlisle various times and was very pleased the fried chicken was great, the biscuits amazing, and the sweet tea was perfection. Was confused and annoyed when I got to their door a couple of times after and they were closed. There's was no notification online. After continuing to search for information, I realized there was another Hickory Ridge in Chambersburg. Took the 35 min drive and was disappointed that the menu had changed a bit. No more of the same fried chicken and no more free refills on the sweet tea. Visited again yesterday and couldn't even finish the meal. No crispy fried chicken at all on the menu. First 2 biscuits were great, but the second 2 were clearly left too long in the oven. The hoagie my daughter ordered had no flavor - she said they were better at Subway, which is saying a lot. The gravy on my mashed potatoes was not even the right color and not much flavor either. Lastly, my Sierra Mist tasted like seltzer water. So, so disappointing. And honestly, a waste of money. Will not go back. I used to recommend them to everyone. Never again. read more

Family dining with great service. "Family" meaning that they do not serve alcohol, which is perfectly fine. I chose the Brisket dinner, which arrived after I'd enjoyed two biscuits with a nice and sweet apple butter. Not a huge portion of brisket, but it was tasty and a good cut.
