Food was good, especially for the price! Steak was a little more on the fattier side, but the flavoring was great! We all enjoyed our food! Coffee was good as well. Our server was nice and on top of it. This was our first time here & it was a great experience. Definitely have a returning customer. Parking lot has a decent amount of parking which is nice! The place was clean and the tables were cleaned right after customers left making room for new customer coming in.

This place has been through three name changes in the not too distant past. It started as the Chambersburg Diner, then New Chambersburg Diner, and most recently , Sunrise Diner, the same owner as the New Chambersburg Diner but with an added partner. It's a nice, spacious place with comfortable seating if you get past the fact that the booth bench seat in much lower than other places making it more difficult for a 5'11" person to be level or ideally able to have the arms easily reach the food and tabletop. The service was very nice, patient, and accommodating. The menu is typical diner food, a good variety for most people who eat the normal American diet but very poor variety for people looking to eat healthier and avoid unnecessary disease and premature death. Sure, you can ask the server to omit the meat and/or dairy ingredients they add, but you still pay for it. Not a good financial decision in my head - paying for something I don't get when the food establishment gets 100% gross profit from my wanting to eat healthy. I tried the plain English muffin toasted and it was very disappointing and clear it was mass produced garbage with no taste and just tasted like paste. I ate just a few bites and spit it out, yuck! Not much on the decent sized menu for a person trying to avoid being overweight, get cancer or a cardiovascular disease, etc. to choose from, so I ordered the French onion soup minus the croton/hunk of bread at the bottom and minus the glob of melted saturated fat, aka cheese. The crock came out and was surprisingly small, maybe the size of a cup at best. It cost $5.99 while the other soups in a cup cost $3.50. At first sip, I quickly found it was overwhelmingly salty, which overtook the broth taste. I tried a spoonful and confirmed it was indeed horrible! Way too much salt. If not for the heavy handed salting, it could have been a decent tasting soup. The fact that the owners haven't yet claimed this business on Yelp despite changing the name months ago is interesting given the last two names had less stellar reviews here. Maybe ignoring actual unbiased reviews from actual customers could help them improve and succeed this time instead of keeping the head in the sand. The better choice is right across the street at the Trojan Diner. One need only look at how many cars of customers are there versus here at anytime to see which people think is best. The prices here are slightly more expensive in nearly every category of food than other places and even higher for some items but not to the point it would prevent me or others from being a customer. If you don't mind slightly higher prices, less than healthy food (but in all fairness, the same unhealthy food most places serve too), and at least in some cases, overly salted food, while accepting the fact that most diners are using more and more mass produced, less tasty food items to keep rising costs in balance, then this place may be of interest as it's a good atmosphere with good service and an okay price. I may return here in the future when in the area again to give it another chance. Meanwhile I cannot recommend the place.

Had the 3 meat sampler. I selected 2 portions of half rack ribs and the meatloaf…read more The ribs were good as was the Mac n cheese and hash brown casserole. The meatloaf was fair, but I'm not a big fan of chopped meat in any form due to the grease and all the negatives of meat in general, especially chopped meat and chicken. The server was a young woman who initially indicated her displeasure at my asking questions about the slight difference between the online and in restaurant menu (no senior citizen choices in the online version for example and a couple of other differences) she told me they don't like to advertise the senior menu (wow!). I guess that says something about senior citizen business but I'm unsure if it's good or negative. Another surprise came when I asked what the difference was in the number of ribs or weight between 1/4 rack and half rack choices. She to me 1/4 was 2 or 3 ribs and half rack was 2 or 3 as well. I tried to clarify in my head if it was literally by the bone or by weight. She became defensive and I could tell she wasn't happy with my question, drilling for a precise answer not a guess. But again rather than make her more perplexed or more unappreciative of my question I just chalked it up to today's generation and lower schooling on precision than my generation. That changed the relationship for the better and all was fine after. She was attentive to my requests and did a great job bringing everything correctly and the other things like wash n dry type towelettes for the rib eating. The place is located in a busy area. Has a nice, comfortable inside and is clean with plenty of room between tables/booths. It's a comfortable climate with the local country music station playing overhead the tables and booths. After realizing my server and I were from vastly different generations, things went better. I'll be back and I received recommend this establishment.

The Flamingo! Bomb! Score! Great menu - too much to choose from! Great American road side diner…read moredecor, from the typical diner "regulars" bar seating that meets you at the entrance to the white haired server behind it who has day-time soaps playing on the tv in the corner. This is not your typical diner, though. The menu has kids chicken tenders, pulled pork sandwich (the bomb) to crab cakes and blue berry pancakes. It was hard to choose. I had the chili to start. Huge bowl. A little runny for my liking, but the balance of beans and zingy taste more than made up for it. The pulled pork was authentic barbecue- and I've been to Kansas City for authentic barbecue- this stuff is legit. Sandwiches are served a-la-carte, but the sides are reasonably priced. Great place. Five stars.

Fantastic service, excellent comfort food and very friendly and fast service. I had my favorite -- tuna salad sandwich (with a side of beets -- excellent!). My husband had a turkey and bacon club with fries. The fries were nice and crispy and were nearly overflowing the plate. I had a few. Very tasty and not at all greasy. If we're ever traveling through here again, we will definitely stop in. (We have three little dogs and there is a nice grassy spot behind the restaurant-- perfect for a little stroll!)
