The food was amazing! I had the black and bleu burger my friends had the chicken & broccoli pasta and the asparagus ala vodka tortellini (requested no crab) and all was fantastic!! The staff provided a raspberry sorbet at the end of the meal that was light and refreshing! It would make an excellent margarita!!! Hint hint. My poor girlfriend just graduated college, all she wanted was a good dinner to celebrate. everything looked promising until it took almost 30 minutes to get everyone a drink... i'm not even kidding we had a reservation at 6:30 and we didn't get our food until 9:30. there was blood all over the bathroom floor without any context. this is unacceptable. i've never experienced a worse dinner experience ever. our food was cold and disgusting when it came out, and it seemed like they didn't care at all for the inconvenience. the manager finally came to talk to us that day(night before mother's day) she seemed drunk out of her mind and the least she could do is comp most of our bill after being dismissive and unprofessional. most of our table had a very long drive home and was very disrespectful towards our accommodation. this place should be shut down or be run buy new owners. this places was very nice and had high hopes but was very disappointing to say the least. my girlfriend payed 35 dollars for a lump crab and shrimp pasta dish and the crab was spoiled and gross, she ended up with food poisoning and was throwing up the next day. this place should not be in business!!!!!!! read more

Quiet and dimly lit for a nice ambiance. Server brought one piece of mini shrimp before we got our food, which was interesting. I had the scallops. Very good. We went there for the New Year's Eve dinner. The place looked great. We were seated right away. It went downhill from there. We didn't get our meals for about 2.5 hours. My kids had to leave before the meals even came out. We never received two of our salads and a side. We were not offered any refills on our wines. We saw another table leave and watched multiple people scolding the manager. We got our deserts to go because it had been almost three hours. I assume they got more reservations than what they could handle or keep track of. The shame of it was that my actual meal was decent, which is why I gave it any stars at all. My wife and I went in on Feb. 1, 24, my wife's birthday. We had been going to Frederick, Md. for fine dining. We had been finding that some other locals didn't appreciate your business if you weren't a home grown local. I also found that alot of the advertised product, (Prime Rib), was not USDA Choice, but Commercial Roll. I just can't speak any higher of the Meals, Service and Ambiance of The Orchards. Price is not relevant when we look for fine dining, but prices were more than competitive. I had a rack of lamb and my wife the crab cake and Benson (6yr old) had a crab pizza. It's now Monday afternoon and we are still talking about our experience. We were treated wonderfully. Our server,Tony was perfect in all areas. We are going back Tuesday with 4 more friends. The food is always excellent. My biggest issue is attention to detail. For example- cut off the ends of the Brussels sprouts. They were great, once they were fixed. This is one of the best restaurants in the area. Take point in the details. The bread is delish. Amuse bouche- often odd but tasty. The lack of detail comes into vegetable prep. The main course is on point. Prep. Where is the sous chef? Food is delicious. Prep needs some work. read more

Dined there on 9/26/2025 as a member of a party of eight (8) in a private dining room. I was likely a one-off, as the other seven in the party were mostly OK. I was disappointed: - the waitress had a hard time finding enough menus for eight of us - I recall four of us ordered sea bass - my food (sea bass) arrived almost 10 minutes after all others in our party. - One member did not receive a broccoli side. - I'm certain there were overall issues, as another person (manager?) popped into the room to apologize for my food still not being ready, and for the missed broccoli side order - what arrived for me appeared to be an effort to substitute a different cut of fish. It looked nothing like the other three orders. It was not a good sea bass, though the other three orders looked much better. - Also the private dining room is across from the wine room. At that point of the hallway is also the collection point for waiters to stage dirty dishes. So again, perhaps I was a one-off. But was disappointed overall. I'm not writing the review to discredit the establishment. But instead to help them maintain credibility. And help other customers identify issues quicker. read more

My husband and I were in Chambersburg for a high school state basketball playoff, and when we are in new places, I always look for a nice restaurant. We are from the Philly area. The Orchards did not disappoint. One of the owners/chefs (Mike) met us as we came in and chatted with us. Soon an Italian pizza arrived at our table (on the house). Delicious! All the food we ordered was delicious (the ahi tuna appetizer was especially good and beautifully presented). Our server was attentive and friendly and the ambiance was elegant. Three hours away is a bit far for a return visit but very glad we discovered it on this trip! read more

My boyfriend made reservations for The Orchards for Valentine's Day. We got sat right away and ordered drinks after about1/2 hr. The drinks were delivered maybe 10-15 minutes later and we order food. In total we were there for 3 hours because of the wait times for food. Every table around us had the same wait. There was an elderly lady with her daughter and 2 younger kids that complained. After they left I could hear the wait staff making fun of her to another table. Very unprofessional when her complaints were completely valid. read more

We went to the Orchards for Valentine's Day. We made reservations a week prior. We waited over an hour for our apps and had to wait another hour for our food. Our server was nowhere to be found, and our food was not worth the price we paid. The manager offered us a 10% discount off of a 120 dollar bill. We ended up being there for 3 HOURS before we ended up even getting the check. There was people complaining left and right, and getting up to LEAVE. My baked potato wasn't even fully cooked. I went to dinner and ordered the ribeye and Greek potatoes. The ribeye was stringy and fat. I strongly feel the chef could have done a much better job in trimming the steak. He/she obviously didn't care what they put on the plate. I sent it back to get more sear in hopes that it would crisp up the fat, but that didn't work. The hostess did come over and apologize for the issue however, the steak was just a horrible cut of meat. The Greek potatoes tasted like they had been previously cooked. They had a somewhat stale taste. The server, Angel was extremely nice and attentive so no problem with the service. I've been to Orchards quite a few times and it is my go to place for celebratory dinners but this time the food was just plain bad. Food was above average, ambiance was nice. Service was very poor, not sure if problem was with the server, the bar, or the kitchen. Ordered an extra dry martini, got a dirty martini, took 15 min to replace it. Ordered wine, didn't have bottle, reordered different wine,didn't have it, third try got a bottle. Worst aspect of the service was that my wife and my meals were served 20 minutes apart. We wanted to go out for a nice dinner together , but ended up eating separately! We came here to see a friend play music. We had never been here before. The owners used to own other places in the area that we have been to which we had always enjoyed. Although this place has been here for a while, we have not been in the area much in quite a long time. We can't say anything about the food, but this seems like a pretty fancy place. We had a few drinks while listening to our friend and chatting about old times. They also have an attached lounge/bar which we stopped into. The music was pretty much in unrecognizable and way too loud. (I must be getting old!) There was even a guy scratching a record back and forth. 4 stars for the restaurant atmosphere, 5 stars for the entertainment, 3 or less stars for the attached lounge/bar. Since I was lazy after work I wanted to try a restaurant close to my hotel and decided on this place. I came here last night and gave myself a day to write this review. Upon entering this establishment you'll have to go through two double doors and once inside there'll be a fountain. It took almost 10 minutes for somebody to greet me. From there you have two options either eat at the bar which is based on the confederate war or eat in the main dining hall. I opted for the dining hall... My server arrives and I order my appetizer which is calamari and I ask for the draft beer list. I waited 20 min for him to return with the drink menu and to let me know that the calamari was sold out. Okay cool whatever, I wasn't going to be rude about anything so I ordered my entree which was the rack of lamb and dessert (horchada cheesecake). Lamb- the first two pieces were amazing! Cooked to perfection and the mint jelly worked wonders for my mouth. The last piece of lamb as you can tell fe my pictures was pretty much raw inside. I didn't say anything but left it on my plate and thought that waiter would've asked me why I didn't eat it or ask me if it was cooked to my liking. Not a chance so I kept my cool and told him to bring out my cheesecake. Horchada Cheesecake- AMAZING!! It was perfect with the right amount of cinnamon and the bottom of the cheesecake was heaven. Also at the end of your dinner they offer you a sorbet and this night it was watermelon. Pretty good touch to end my night. I don't know if I'll come back.... read more

We enjoy going here because of the pleasant ambience--especially in the lounge. I can't say, though, that the food is spectacular. Last night I had the scallops, which were OK but not really anything special. Nor were the fries or the broccoli that I had as sides. The beer was good. It was a Hefeweizen. Fabulous food. Top end to "bar menu". Chicken quesadillas were great and not greasy at all. Chilean Sea Bass was beyond superb. Seriously. Delicious. Not to be outdone, the vegetables were grilled to perfection. Louis & Aaron were in the kitchen. (I asked cause they deserve credit.) . We recently had a dinner to celebrate our granddaughter's college graduation. Not only did the staff (Crystal) handle a party of 15 with humor and patience, but the food and drink were excellent. To top it off, my husband left his glasses on the table and as we live in another state, we were unable to collect them. The owner and manager sent the glasses to us at their expense (we offered!) express which exemplifies the thoughtfulness this restaurant puts into everything. My colleague said that he wanted a steak for dinner and to pick the best steak joint in town. We landed here at Orchard based on the reviews and found it to be quite the fancy joint. Dim lighting, well dressed servers, a menu clad in leatherette and a wine list that goes into the triple digits. Yep, this should do nicely. Well, the prime rib was actually very good. Cooked medium rare as I ordered and plated nicely. For my two sides, I opted for the asparagus and as you can see, they didn't quite go overboard with the portion here. The second side was a baked potato that took a good ten minutes to follow the first plate. Kind of a bummer because at the same time, I also wanted some horseradish and my steak was a third gone before that arrived. Still, it was a decent piece of cow. Service was fair. There's something about having really young kids serving tables at a fancy restaurant. Maybe that's ageism on my part, but it took a bit of shine off the top. My colleague got stuck behind the train. Yeah, if that happens to you, you may have to get on to 81 and go around. Yes, ten minute wait. read more

I am sadly disappointed. I was home and my husband went out with company. He ordered a take out meal for me. I ordered "Charlie's Catch" which is a house highlighted special pasta meal with seafood, artichokes, and asparagus. It was absolutely horrible. (The small salad was the only decent thing) The pasta was tasteless with a butter sauce that only tasted of char/burn. It was an overwhelming flavor. The scallops were burnt awful. I attached pictures. It came with canned artichokes and canned crab. A terrible mess that just tasted like char and cost $27. There was also no bread with the meal. Perhaps they serve no bread with a meal, but I think this is a common occurrence. I would like to know what quality control they have in their kitchen. So disappointing. At least I had the salad to eat. The salad was very enjoyable. An extra star for a high quality side salad. Sad, because I was home sick and really looking forward to a fairly expensive take-out meal for a pasta dish. read more

Had a little business travel trip which isn't exactly what would be my desire but needless to say it's essential. Trying to see some form of normalcy, stopped into Orchards for a dine-in meal after a long day. I wasn't sure how the experience would be, which would normally be all about the food but now also the safety with COVID. The restaurant was pretty empty and required masks. I know it's not great to be empty but made me feel more comfortable plus the hand sanitizer and wipes they had available. Service was quick, the menu was great and actually felt good! The rack of lamb was cooked rare the way I love it and had great flavor. The mussels appetizer was also tasty, though I hoped for more broth! Finished off with the creme brûlée which was done very well. Happy to say the experience was great and would definitely go back, hopefully continues to be a safe place to minimize spread. read more

Past experiences with Orchards was most satisfactory. However on Sat. Oct.21,2023, I had my wedding reception there, a party of 23. This time it was a horror. The 2 waitresses were pleasant but were uncoordinated in the service. The U shaped table arrangement was served willy nilly from side to side without any true pattern. The 'head table', after a long wait, was served LAST. Chronology of the meals was all mixed up. The food was so-so, & priced too high for the poor quality and taste. Request for Appetizers was randomly dispensed, many of us not being asked what to order. For desserts we were told that the choice was what the chef had that day. Meaning leftovers from other celebrations. At $10. per slice, the Cheese Cake was crap. The addition of a 3% charge for using a credit card, was really sticking it to us. An experienced Chef is desperately needed. An overall supervisor, to see to a timely, tasty and proper delivery of the meals and running of the dining rooms, was noted by total absence. Sad to see, a once great catering hall go downhill. NEVER, EVER AGAIN!!! I am not a complainer by nature, I had to vent after this disaster. read more

The restaurant is fabulous! I always order the grilled octopus and the sea bass entree and have never been disappointed. They are both cooked perfectly and so so tasty! The Greek potatoes and Greek salad are wonderful as well. The service is impeccable and the little "extras" they provide make your dining experience even nicer! My family and I had my Grand Daughter's Sweet 16 Birthday Celebration on 11/4 at The Orchards. I am a party planner and I am very particular where I would hold such an important event. From the Owner, his wife, their daughter to the whole staff, EVERYONE was extremely professional, kind, thorough, and overall great people. They went above and beyond to make sure this event was perfect. And perfect it was. I went to the restaurant a week ahead of time to just get a feel for their food. My family ordered different things and EVERYTHING WAS DELICIOUS. We didn't order the same foods for our event's buffet, but was pretty confident that it would be good. And they did not disappoint. We had about 150 guests and everyone raved about how great the food was. As stressed as I was pulling this off. The Orchards did everything to ease the stress of such an event. The wife was so hands on, she even put food aside for me to ensure I ate later. Orchards Banquet rooms are absolutely beautiful. My Grand daughter was so overwhelmed how great her party turned out, she is in school today texting me. Her party at the Orchards is what the kids are talking about. Went to this restaurant with high expectations after reading reviews but left feeling quite disappointed. We ordered the filet app first. Although it tasted good, the meat was served gray not charred or sautéed with color but gray. We ordered carbonara which was overdosed in garlic which took over the entire dish. Not good. I ordered the haddock which was previously frozen and tasted super fishy. Upon sending it back, we got nothing but attitude from the waitress. She looked at us in disbelief and took the plate away not saying a word. Didn't ask what else I wanted etc. just walked away with the plate. I kept trying to track her down to no avail. She finally came back out with the same dish which I clearly told her I didn't want. She huffed and puffed when I told her no deal on the fish again. Spoke with the mgr to let her know to train the wait staff better. Then got the check with a "credit card fee". What the heck? I've never been to a supposed higher end restaurant and been charged a ridiculous fee for nothing. That was the final straw. Not going back. Be advised, they charge a "credit card fee" as if you're at some low end chicken shack. read more
