Went mid-November and we're glad we did. When we arrived the place was empty- as we were leaving another party entered. We definitely had excellent service & enjoyed our food. The crab dip was our favorite. We can't wait to go back during ski season!

This is a review for Eagle & Owl restaurant.  We came on Thanksgiving because all the other restaurants were booked.  There were only 3 other tables when we got here (3:30pm).  The facility is very nice, new looking.  Appears to be lots of parking.  I had the turkey with stuffing, turkey was very tender, stuffing was good.  My mom had the chicken with mashed potatoes ans green beans.  Everything was good but the chiken was VERY bland, like wow.  Service was friendly.  They have a pool table, Foosball and shuffleboard table in the restaurant.  Great views!  Verry romantic and cozy lobby.  I will return ans check out their brunch.  They have good happy hour deals, $2 Yuengling beers on Mondays, $1 tacis on Tuesdays,  etc. The house Chardonnay was excellent, highly recommend.

Mountain Burger was delicious! So juicy.

We had a great meal & service was awesome! Everything our table ordered was really good. The restaurant has a good selection of beer, wine & cocktails.

Greasy pizza and bland pasta dish.

Don't waste your money. Everything is soaked with grease. Zero stars! Eagle and the Owl

We went here for the hotels complimentary breakfast which is included in hotel price, and for dinner. For breakfast - I would give it 2 or 3 stars as it's a mess in the morning they probably need a better system, but this review is for dinner. We had an early dinner around 6:30pm. I ordered crab soup, Caesar salad with salmon as my entree and raspberry iced tea. My husband ordered calamari to start, the beef short ribs as his entree and a beer. Our server was very pleasant and efficient. The food came out quite quickly and it was pretty good! Tbh, it's a bit pricey, but everything in the hotel is a bit pricey. lol

I came for NYE and the drinks were bad and the food were worse. Don't get the Nachos or crab app, in fact, don't go there at all!

The mussels were very good, no grit, they went well with Breckenridge King's Dish Ale. I only hope that this catches on for Thursday's.

History class would've been a lot more interesting if it ended with onion soup and roast beef…read more The Dobbin House in Gettysburg isn't just a restaurant--it's a living piece of American history. Built in 1776, it has been a family home, the first classical school west of the Susquehanna River, a stop on the Underground Railroad, and even a Civil War field hospital. Today, you can grab an incredible meal while surrounded by centuries of history. If you go, eat in the basement tavern. The atmosphere alone is worth the trip. I kicked things off with the Baked King's Onion Soup, loaded with perfectly toasted cheese and a surprise twist--shredded beef that took it to another level. I followed that with the Spit Roasted Chicken Dinner, roasted the old-fashioned way over an open fire until the skin was perfectly crisp while the meat stayed juicy and tender. Because apparently I arrived with the appetite of all 19 Dobbin kids, I also ordered the Dobbin's Hot Beef Sandwich. Tender roast beef on a buttery brioche roll with rich au jus for dipping? Absolutely demolished it. Then came the roast beef club with Swiss, bacon, lettuce, tomato, and mayo, plus not one... but two sides of potato salad. Pro tip: dip the potato salad into the onion soup. You're welcome. The Dobbin House proves that great food never goes out of style. They say you can't eat history... but after this meal, I'm pretty sure I did. If these walls could talk, they'd probably tell me to slow down next time.

I visited with family in Gettysburg and we stopped for lunch here. It was my first time but the…read morefood was delicious so I understand why they would bring other people to check them out. My uncle ordered a cup of chili to start. It was served hot which is always a bonus. Not too spicy even though it had a spice label next to it on the menu. The presentation was nice as it's served with 4 tortilla chips. My Aunt opted for the babyback ribs served with fries. My uncle's main dish was the soft shell crab tacos while I went with the brisket mac and cheese and side Caesar salad. These items, with exception of the salad, were on a separate menu, likely seasonal. The servings are large (even the side salad)! I barely put a dent in my Mac and cheese. I was a little disappointed that the brisket that was "folded" within my MAC and cheese was playing Hide-and-seek. I would prefer more protein in that dish based on the quantity of pasta. The salad was well-dressed. At most restaurants I have to add caesar dressing to the salads. I washed it down with a sweet tea while my Uncle tried the White Birch beer. My aunt thought the baby back ribs were dry, and had a bit too much sauce on it. It would have been nice to have less sauce on the ribs, with additional sauce on the side. My uncle did not think the soft shell crab tacos were all that (although novel), which is probably why he ordered. It had more batter on it, and one can barely taste the crab. He said he would not order it again. As residents they will not go back to this restaurant anytime soon, and can't really recommend it unless someone just wants to try give it a try. I'll have to try the root beer on my next visit. Our waiter was very attentive and the volume in the restaurant was reasonable enough to have table conversations. I definitely recommend stopping at one of these locations if you're visiting or passing through.

Everyone was right and the place was packed when we got there, we were lucky enough to get spot at the bar and a local even moved over so both of us could have seats. They have an extensive selection of beer/cocktails/wine/rootbeer (you have to try) so you can pair it with their great menu. We had the pierogies and were great: crispy texture outside and tasty in the middle. If you are in town stop by for a refreshing beverage and a great local vibe.
