    Potato soup
    Jacintha T.

Potato Soup This was surprisingly delicious. There were lots of chunks of potatoes in the soup. Good cream flavor, heavy and good thickness. I also liked the bits of bacon. Well seasoned, overall very good. Side Salad The lettuce was old, the onions were old, the whole thing just looked unappealing. The waitress was really nice about removing it from the bill and admitted it looked off to her. Seems like a strange practice to serve it anyway. ‍ Prime Rib This was the reason we came to the diner. Unfortunately they didn't start it early enough for us to get a serving.

Abbottsville local diner. Pretty extensive menu. Regular diner food. Decor is just ok. Americana Pennsylvania decor. Food good. I'd rate the diner fair. Price is reasonable. Staff is friendly. I just can't find something to push up the rating. Everything was just ok. It's all about the locals and I'm just visiting.

Sausage gravy over biscuits and their famous hashbrown cassarole. SOOO good!!!

We originally planned to eat out on the patio, but the wind that day was very high and it would have been impossible. As it was, later when we did go out on the patio to have a drink, we found ourselves helping out the staff in taking down the umbrella covers so that they wouldn't get completely shredded by the wind. We started off with a mixed drink that my cousin recommended. No idea what it was, but it was somewhat tasty. Not really my kind of thing normally, as I tend to go for whiskey sours (I drink like my grandmother). Looking through the menu, I was tempted by a burger, but then I saw the fish and that it was haddock, and had to go for it. When it came out, I was pleasantly surprised with the dish, and enjoyed it. This is a place where you don't feel like you need to dress up... you can just go, enjoy a nice meal, perhaps hit some balls on the driving range or go for a round of golf, and just enjoy your time instead of having to play froo-froo games with high society clowns.

Our server came over to take our drink orders and offer us sparkling, spray or tapwater. He also offered us the chefs amuse bouche. It was a hummus filled of pastry? The menu is easy to decipher, and there were two specials for the evening. We went with the escargot as an appetizer as well as the bread basket. The bread basket had a few different options and a herb butter. There was some appointment with the escargot as they were a little chewy and lack some flavor but we all enjoyed the Mushrooms that they sat on top of and the toasted bread. We also got the potato crisp as an appetizer. They were excellent with a Stilton cheese, fresh herbs, and scallions! They were crispy and so flavorful. One of the specials was a pasta Bolognese made with Papparadelle. I enjoyed seeing the small bits of carrot, a lot of meat and the wine flavor came through as well. My dad got the monkfish and he said it was almost like eating a piece of steak! We couldn't forget about dessert. We had the crème brûlée and two of the Chocolate dessert. Overall, it was a great night, but but it was quite pricey. That was our fault as we asked for extra water, we had 2 alcoholic drinks, three appetizers and three desserts. I will definitely be back for another special occasion as there is more to explore on the menu! It's a hidden gem in East Berlin, and I'm glad it's still around!

My wife had the fish and chips. Food was good and plentiful. Service was very good, ate with some old friends, there was no rush, they gave us plenty of space. The menu is varied, specials are not typical fare, but also do not become science projects like so many "creations" do. The food is left to speak for itself. Affordable. Two small criticisms, can be loud in certain areas. They are very accommodating in moving you. The parking lot. Walking over the bridge can be an issue with cars. Worth the trip.

It sounds bold, and it is, but it works beautifully. The broth is rich and deeply savory, the cheese pull is perfect, and the crispy rings add a texture you never knew the classic was missing. The pork chop remains the star of the menu--huge, expertly seasoned, and cooked with precision. It's widely considered the best in the city, and honestly might be the best in the state. Juicy, tender, and full of flavor, it's the kind of entrée you end up recommending to friends for weeks. Their octopus is another standout, prepared with surprising delicacy. Tender, not chewy, with a perfect char that adds just the right amount of smokiness. It's balanced, refined, and one of the most memorable small plates you'll find locally. And don't leave without dessert--the crème brûlée is phenomenal. Silky smooth custard under a flawlessly torched sugar crust that cracks just right. Simple, classic, and executed perfectly. Between the inventive dishes and the warm atmosphere, The First Post remains a must-visit for anyone who loves great food done exceptionally well.

I can't remember which? I'm happy to report that the food and the service with new owners at the new diner is excellent. My wife and I both had the fried fantail shrimp entrée which comes with a salad and two sides. The shrimp were quite juicy and tasty and had a nice crunch so they must've been coated with among other things some panko breadcrumbs. The portion was generous as you will see in the photo. Both salads were good, but the greens were just a little tired. French fries were also quite nice and covered with kind of a tasty and crispy coating of some kind. Service was good and we never had to wait very long for anything. The diner has two display cases full of delicious, looking desserts... But we were too full to eat anymore. The bill for the two entrées + 2 soft drinks was $39 + an $8 tip. Good, solid diner food and I would return in the future with no reservations.
