Everything is top class at this restaurant! The atmosphere is so comfortable & welcoming. The music was well chosen & not loud or over powering. The service was great. Nicole was friendly & shared things about the food prepared by the chef, Jason. The food...exceptional! Each item served looked perfect - which it was! What a great meal. As a single diner, you arent sure if you will be treated well or dismissed. The staff at Create 48 went out of their way to make a birthday retreat weekend feel special. The food.... ah-maz-ing. The gazpoacho with lime gremolata was wonderfully composed and surprisingly different from my standard tomato gazpacho. The scallops were seasoned and cooked to perfection- they melted like butter. And I debated about dessert thinking I would take it to go. Nope- the grilled peach conler with brown butter pecan and ehipped ice cream.. fabulous. And watching the Chef greet each table was an extra touch that I rarely see. What an amazing option in Gettysburg! We came here to celebrate a birthday and made reservations in advance. It is BYOB and they give you glassware when you arrive if you want it. The menu isn't too extensive but that is because it is seasonal and sourced locally. We tried the tomato and onion salad and eggplant for appetizers, the gnocchi and steak and then split the cheesecake. Everything is very clearly marked for gluten free and other dietary needs. Amazing! Fresh farm-to-table, locally sourced, delicious dinner made by an ex-big city chef. Best food in Gettysburg! The service was relaxed and friendly yet excellent. Nicole and Jason visited our table, remembered that our friends are vegan and don't like ice in their water (attention to detail!), were engaging but not overbearing, and chill with us having a one-year-old at the table. The strawberry salad is light and fruity, the Brussels sprouts superb, and even though I'm not normally a gnocchi fan, we tried 3 kinds (lamb, mushroom and beef) and it was the best gnocchi I've ever had. Light, pillowy, soft, carrying the flavor of the sauces magnificently. The creme brulee was perfectly crisp on top and super creamy underneath; one of my favorite desserts. This charming, store front restaurant is a must for anyone looking for inventive, delicious, expertly presented fare, prepared and served by a husband-and-wife team, Jason (chef) and Nicole. Jason is clearly having fun with the menu, and the spirit is contagious. My wife and I ordered the smoked carrot bisque (which is served in a sealed, smoke-filled vessel; chicken liver pate tartines, flavored with star anise and topped with an orange-apricot gastrique; an entree size roasted beet salad; and lamb ragu gnocchi. For dessert, we shared rum raisin ice cream topped with carrot cake crumble. Simply fantastic--and we had just come back from France a few months before! Nicole's service was so gracious and warm, we felt like old friends by the end of the meal. We come from NJ, but this place may be reason enough to return, and I hope we do. read more

Everytime I come into Gettysburg to see my daughter at college, we eat here. Staff is friendly and accommodating. Food is excellent and creative. If you are looking for the usual Gettysburg boring and predictable tourist food, then look elsewhere. I hope they keep it up and continue to do the little things they do so well. First, it's so nice to have an intimate, upscale restaurant in town! As soon as you walk in the door, you are warmly welcomed by Nicole. She is incredibly friendly and outgoing. We were the first table last night, so she explained a lot about the menu and what the theme was for April - it's Spring!! We were given an amuse bouche of a carrot/ginger/turmeric drink. It was cold and refreshing and delicious! The menu is small, but the offerings are delicious. I started with the spring pea bruschetta. 3 thick slices of sourdough with a bright green pea topping. Two pieces would have been perfect, but it was too good to not eat all 3. My husband had the chicken liver pate. Again, 3 slices of sourdough slathered with pate. Absolutely delicious. I followed with the mushroom gnocchi and hubby had the lamb ragout with gnocchi. Both were very good. Chef Jason stopped by our table a couple of times to see if we were enjoying everything. We were kind of full but Nicole talked us into a slice of carrot cake from the shop next door to them, Sweeter than Sap. It was a 5 or 6 layer slice and was also, delicious. We would highly recommend this cozy little restaurant. They do not have liquor but it is BYOB for wine. They have water, sparkling water and Coke or Diet Coke. Service was outstanding! We ate here during our stay in Gettysburg and had a phenomenal experience! Chef Jason and his wife, Nicole, were welcoming, friendly, and a pleasure to meet. I really don't understand this place. most of the good reviews are from when they were at The Markets at Hanover. I was in Gettysburg on Saturday, January 18 and people were walking around and restaurants were busy. I thought I'll stop in at Create and grab a gyro but of course they were closed. They want to be a fine dining restaurant with less hours than a farmers market. I really loved their gyros and fries at the Markets. A few other things too but now they're rarely open, have the strangest food on the menu and very little offerings. Everybody loved the gyro's and I see reviews with no tzatziki so I came prepared with sour cream. Close enough. I don't know how they expect to survive or why they won't give offer customers what they want. It's confusing. I ended up at La Belle Italia had a great sandwich. read more

We moved to Hanover a few years ago and found Create at The Markets. There's a group of us that love our gyros and travel all around trying them. They have some great ones in Baltimore. A few of us have now messaged Jason at Create at 48 to ask if he'd add back the tzatziki sauce for the gyros and he said NO. New place new adventure or something like that and removed our comments. Was rather rude as well. Who wants gyros with weird sauces and why can't loyal customers be accommodated when we supported him all along. This new menu has some bizarre food and those of us who tried it aren't thrilled at all. When you have multiple customers that just want traditional tzatziki sauce for the gyros why wouldn't a business accommodate them. It's a good enough reason to go elsewhere since that's the only item they served worth eating. read more
