This was my first visit of the season to Half Pint Creamery on a sunny, 63 degree, but windy day in late March. Upon arrival there were only 2 vehicles in the parking lot, likely driven by the 2 young employees, however a couple arrived several minutes later. I chose a scoop each of Black & White and Fudge, both no sugar added with a small bag of cone fragments and a 20% tip for $14.30. The 2 young women behind the counter were pleasant and helpful. I ate outdoors in the sunlight in contradistinction to summer where I would hide from the scorching sun! It is my understanding that later this summer they will be moving their location north several hundredfeet on the same side of the road. The building construction is well underway, so this ought be nice. They have an assortment of flavors with typically 2 no sugar added choices, seemingly typical of ice cream shops, some of which have no options for those who need to be mindful. I was pleasantly surprised this place wasn't as sweet as I thought it would be. They have a peaceful location outside the downtown area and that makes this place more enjoyable. There are no bathrooms or indoor seating. They do have outdoor seating. However, if it rains, there's really no other option but to sit in the car to eat ice cream. They have very unique flavors and interesting combinations. They have no dairy and no sugar options. Some have an additional surcharge though. They have fun, unique flavors like butter toffee, carrot cake, and apple pie. Plus they give you a complimentary waffle chip with your ice cream and plastic cone holders. We also got a bag of broken waffle cone pieces (great idea!). The total was $11.74 a good price. The only reasons I didn't give it 5 stars are facility related. First, there's no public restroom. Second, the line to order doesn't permit distancing. We'll definitely stop next time we pass through Gettysburg. read more

This is my favorite ice cream place, full stop. We drive all the way down to Gettysburg from Mechanicsburg to enjoy it, then we always stock up for later! My favorite flavors are Peanut Butter Cookie Dough (all their PB flavors are incredible!!), Oreo Cookie, Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Espresso... they're just all so good! Something that really makes this place stand out is how consistent it is. The ice cream is always the perfect temperature, and you don't get wildly different serving sizes like other places will do. Plus their homemade waffle cone is included in the price, so it is really affordable all things considered! The waffle cones are delicious, never stale, and they serve them in those plastic cone protectors so they are less likely to leak. For some reason this place has a 3.5 star average on Yelp right now. That seems absolutely bonkers to me. If you look at the bad reviews, they are related to the hours, not having a public restroom, and the service... not the quality of the ice cream. Yeah, they don't have a restroom. That seems fairly typical of the ice cream places I've been to. We've never had an issue with the service or the hours. I'm a fairly frequent visitor to Gettysburg due to one of my family members living there Gotta say, we routinely cut down on lunch or dinner to ensure we have room for the ice cream creations at Half Pint. Sometimes, I/we forego convention and have our 2 scoops at HPC. The assortment of flavors and the promotions they offer are super!!!! Right now, HPC is offering "Christmas in July." Some of their creations include ice creams named: Hot Chocolate; Buddy the Elf; Reindeer Poop, and a slew of others. Don't worry about the Reindeer ice cream- it has oatmeal and raisins included. Anyone coming to G-burg, I really recommend you get off the main drag and check out HPC. Betcha you'll face the same issue, ensuring you save room for 2 scoops (or more) at HPC. read more
