My vegetarian crepe was just average and my husband found his quiche to be overpriced for what you get. Its a cute cafe for a coffee and a croissant but i wouldn't go for breakfast again. Worst of all my $9 crepe was not the freshest ingredients and I didn't want to eat the brown avocado chunks they put in. If I were them I would take more pride in my food being served to customers. With all of the glowing Yelp reviews, my fiance and I had high hopes for the French Corner. Maybe it was an off day, but the wait was long, the prices were high, the portions were meager , and the food was mediocre at best - definitely lacking the French passion described by other reviewers. I don't mind paying high prices when the food is good, but both the Croque Monsieur and the vegetarian crepe we ordered were bland. We also bought a tiny crumpet that was displayed next to the register and seemed a bit stale. French Corner made desserts for our wedding and they were Divine! We had a Very Good cake (pictured), a pistachio cake, and 50 mini chocolate soufflés. HOLY COW. Really awful experience. Could not be more negative - this place is not French, the staff is rude and the food is expensive and slow. I ordered a latte and simple tartine - tartines ate French bread with stuff on top. I really wanted it the traditional French way- and after all this place asserts to be French.. The girl taking orders asked if I wanted a baguette or brown bread and I definitely wanted the baguette! I waited for 20 minutes .. a bit ridiculous for a takeout order that is bread with nut butter on top. Eventually, I was handed a thin slice of brown bread (which cost $10 by the way!). I handed it back, saying I had ordered it on the baguette The owner (or manager) said that baguettes were only available for sandwiches on the weekend (?) and refused to remake it. The cashier girl asked if I wanted a refund-_ and honestly what I was handed was not appetizing and cost $10, so I said yes. I ordered a Quiche Lorraine to serve at Mother's Day brunch. First of all, the crust and entire pie were beautiful. Secondly, it was very large, serving 12 or more slices. This restaurant is an adorable corner French cafe. I stopped in to get a chocolate croissant for my husband and a decaf coffee for me. They have no drip coffee only espresso drinks, so I got a latte, which is pretty good. I can't get over the prices. I know they are by the beach in Leucadia but I was shocked by the cost of some items. Everything is marked up by $3-$4. A typical egg breakfast sandwich is $11. Just a slice of quiche a la carte was $7 and a glass of orange juice was $6. If you want to stop in and get a coffee, go for it! You will probably break the bank if you bring in your family for breakfast or lunch. read more

We walked here for breakfast and it was definitely worth it. Almond croissant was perfect. Flaky croissant and just the right amount of almond filling. We had a crepe and omelette. I really love this place and the food is great, but it takes so long to get your order. My husband and I have been twice now , and it takes over 10 minutes to get a coffee and a chocolate croissant to go. Last time we enjoyed breakfast there, it took over 20 minutes to get toasted French bread with jam. It's such a shame bc the food is great, but i wouldn't go to this place unless you have all the time in the world. It's technically not a restaurant, but a fast casual cafe. No wait staff, you order at the register , and they bring it to you. I just wish for quick orders like coffee, and toasted bread, etc you just take it after you pay at the register. I have been here several more times since my last review, and I must add that the wait can be quite long, especially if you are waiting for any to go items (including coffee and any food that isn't in the display case). If you have the time, it is worth claiming a table and sitting down for your meal, since the space inside is rather tight. Moreover, it can be somewhat jam packed in the mornings, for some that might mean that you would rather sit and eat your meal, while for others might not want to deal with the noise and crowding and would prefer to get your food to go. Either way, you are probably in for a wait. Additionally, while the staple pastries remain the same day to day, i have occasionally encountered some uncommon pastries on the weekends which are certainly worth keeping an eye out for! read more

Fantastic place, quality food. Cheerful staff. Feels like you are in France while you are there. A nice little retreat from the ordinary. I'll also speak to the wait as I've know seen a few others post about this. It's really not very long at all, it's a reasonable amount of time for fresh food made to order in a perpetually busy little cafe. Sometimes in life you have to wait and you have to pay for quality, and it's worth it. If you don't have patience and don't mind paying a reasonable price to an independently owned small business that offers unique, organic, authentic French foods then this isn't the place for you. Maybe hit Starbucks and settle for mediocrity. If you're in a rush and don't care what you eat or put in your body there are other places for you to go for sure. If you can appreciate quality and afford to treat yourself to simple pleasures in life, then you'll love sitting outside and sipping a lovely coffee drink made from organic espresso while snacking on a freshly baked pastry. If you're really into places like IHOP, Denny's, Wal Mart, or other chains and "value" places that have trained you to think a ridiculously sized breakfast special platter filled with chemicals and terrible quality ingredients should cost you $4.99 and be served to you in less than 7 minutes so you can douse it in ketchup and gobble it down into your cavernous belly don't darken this door. Very quaint. I live right down the street and stopped in for an afternoon caffeine kick. I wasn't sure what to expect, but the cafe has pastries, sandwiches, drinks etc. It is owned by a French woman who is very nice. I ordered a cappuccino. Not that it matters to much but it came in a pretty cool cup. The prices are reasonable. I sat outside facing the 101. It was actually quite relaxing. Hands down best crepes ever. I love savory crepes and they have a lot of good ones to choose from. My go-to crepe is the La Jambon Fromage - French ham, gruyere cheese and French cornichon pickles. So incredibly delicious! The crepe itself is so good and then combination of the French ham and cheese and French pickles is perfect! I also love the avocado toast here - Tartine au Avocat. Nice thick slice of soft multigrain bread with goat cheese, avocado slices, cherry tomatoes and drizzled with balsamic. Everything tastes fresh and homemade. Great location for relaxing and having a nice slow meal, while reading and drinking coffee. Free wifi too. I could easily eat here everyday if I lived closer. read more

Yummy Yummy Oooo how excited I am about this café. Came with my good friend on a lovely Saturday morning, sat outside - absolute perfection. Almond Croissant - yep, that's always my first choice and I loved it. Filled with finely ground almonds... soo good! I also got a palmier which had nuts on top of it and it was amazing. The beauty is the tea. She imports the tea from France - the teabags are made with cotton cloth. JOY! I want to come here everyday - I want to sip tea and eat delectable pastries. I was thrilled to find this place after my recent trip back from Paris. I haven't found food that comes close to the quality I had in France except for here!. Alexandra is always cheerful and greets you with an authentic bonjour! I stopped drinking coffee a year ago, but I can't resist the cappuccinos she makes. They are rich in flavor and texture. Her citrus crepe is perfect with my cappuccino. She made the most remarkable lemon meringue cake as a special order for my daughters birthday. It was mouthwatering! I have enjoyed everything from her crepes, sandwiches, soups, salads and treats! All is wonderful and delicious!!! I have hired her to cater a very large women's Springtime in Paris luncheon in Feb.and I can hardly wait to show off her talents to all my friends. Take time to come and EAT here!!!! We clearly like ham and cheese. 4 stars because maybe it's just Sundays, but the service was not great. Those around us kept getting mixed up orders, orders were forgotten, we got lucky but we had a very long wait. It wasn't even a full house -- it was 1130am. I think this could be a great spot if they added thoughtful touches to the decor/ambiance around the seating areas and had a plan for busy days. I was looking for a brunch spot to meet some friends part way between Oceanside and San Diego, and French Corner was perfect! It's a tiny bakery packed with TONS of delicious looking goods. In fact, there is so much to choose from it was hard to decide! This feels like a cafe in Europe. I believe there is only seating outside, where there is music playing, and it is very dog friendly. I had some toast and coffee, both were delicious - the bread was fresh and loaded with yummy jam. I tried some fresh squeezed OJ - mmmm! My friends each enjoyed their orders too. I didn't find the wait to be bad at all, especially for Sunday brunch-hour. The prices were a little steep, but the quality is there so I thought it was worth it. Stumbled across French Corner on a delightful Sunday afternoon walk and in an instant knew it was my new favorite. Super cute furniture outside with a splash of color, chalk board outside with today's specials on it, French music playing ever so slightly outside giving you the true feeling you actually were on Champs Elysees... Absolutely delightful find. (And I haven't even mentioned what's inside!!) There is no inside seating but a lot of pastry cases filled with decedent desserts and rich pastries. I am very picky about what restaurants I will eat at, but I had no hesitation about enjoying a meal at this little french cafe. Not only are the ingredients very fresh and unprocessed, but you can definitely tell the food here is prepared with love! 2 french ladies, mother and daughter, made the experience wonderful! I just tried this place for the first time this morning and I'm so glad I did! The ladies there are very friendly and beautiful. The pastry was buttery, flakey, and flavorful. It was actually much better than any I had in France. The biggest surprise though was the Americano. I have had an Americano from nearly every coffee shop along the coast and this was by far the best I've had. It was very rich and smooth. I was very sad when my cup was empty. It was the perfect complement to the pastry. I found myself in such a good mood while I was enjoying my pastry and Americano this morning on my drive in to work, that I wasn't annoyed at all by the slow moving traffic and bicycles on the road. I genuinely smiled warmly at a pedestrian that chose to slowly cross in front of my car. My brother, who lives in Oceanside, insisted I accompany him to the French Corner cafe, in the nearby and very Southern California town of Encinitas. We hopped on our bikes, Dan on his vintage Motobecane French racing steed, with both of us in French-themed bike jerseys (I'd purchased mine in Parisi). We ordered and then waited a short time as we sat along the Boulevard, I mean Highway 101, for our salads; mine was a substantial and excellent La Niçoise. We knew we weren't in Paris, or Italy, for that matter, but we had surprisingly good cappuccinos. Afterward, we shared pastries. I felt like I was in a Paris sidewalk cafe that had been teleported to the Mediterranean coast, without the high prices.
