I've been to Freddy's maybe three times. This most recent visit was during Bham Restaurant Week 2019! I mean, guess everyone wanted to take full advantage of the food and wine specials. That's exactly what brought me out ! Prior to getting to Freddy's, I already knew what I was going to order. I ordered the medium charcuterie board which came with 2 glasses of wine (house red , white or rosé). As we all know , house wines can be very unpredictable. The house red wine was satisfying to my palate as was the charcuterie board - $20 bucks! Definitely worth fighting the lively crowd present at the time of my Thursday night visit after work. I've read some complaints on the contents of the charcuterie board but I was pleased for the most part. Now, I will say that there was indeed something missing . Hmmm , maybe some type of candied nut or another sweet tasting option . Of course , all of these boards are unique depending on where you are. There were two different types of cheeses , two different meat selections, wafer looking crackers , bread , as well of nuts , pitted olives/ pickles. I really enjoyed the grainy mustard that accompanied the board. I would certainly order this again- I really liked the presentation as well. There was one drawback with this visit. I was overcharged! Like , overcharged by $8 . I quickly realized the bill of $33 didn't make sense for what I ordered - my bill should have been $20 plus applicable taxes. After mentioning this error with my bill, the staff very willingly got my bill corrected. However, I am very curious of just how many other people were overcharged?????? This mishap is why this review is 4 stars and not 5 stars. Overall , I feel like Freddy's is a top place in town to hang out . They offer a rotating menu which keeps things fun and fresh! read more

I've been to Freddy's Wine Bar on a bunch of occasions now, both with groups and date nights, and really love what they have to offer. For being a wine bar, and with the drink selection that they have to offer, it's still a relatively and enjoyably casual place. You order at the bar, both food, wine and others types of drinks, and find a table on your own. It's never been too crowded so that seating is a problem, although the outside patio might become busier during nice evenings. Freddy's always has happy hours and other wine specials going on, both by the glass and bottle. It's hard to keep up on what they're offering week to week, but be sure to keep your eyes open for something special. As for their food - I'd recommend the Barbacoa and empanadas, both are pretty awesome. Their beer and whiskey selection could probably be beefed up a little bit, but hey it's wine bar so I can't ding them for that. read more

Last night was my first time at Freddy's, and I'll definitely be back! Parking can be difficult, but once you get inside the ambiance is very relaxed and calming. It wasn't crowded at all on a Saturday night. Our waitress was very attentive and kind! We ordered the standard charcuterie board, the Brussels sprouts, and the gnocchi Mac and cheese. I have been to Freddy's a couple of times since they opened and I have always had a wonderful experience here. They have an extensive wine selection, as well as beer and some aperitifs. If you are looking for a cocktail, this isn't the place. No full bar here. The medium charcuterie board is the way to go for 2 people. I don't even know what type of cheese we received because we ate it so fast. Delicious! If you are leaning towards wine, check out the house red or white wine. 18oz for $15! You can't beat that and it taste delicious. They have a beautiful seating area out front, I can't wait to enjoy it more when the weather cools down. I've visited five or six times in the last couple of months. Great place for a beautiful Monday evening. Perfect place for people watching, food and/or drinks. Another reason to visit is Libby. She's great for recommending food or drinks. Glasses never go empty and she is so charming. I'm always glad to see her! Freddys now has a good draft beer selection if you're not a wine person. A boy, a boy, a boy! My bf and I attempted to go to another restaurant that we were so underdressed for that we decided to go elsewhere. I've been wanting to come here and on we went. I remember when they were building this and I was skeptical since the building has always looked rough, but I was pleasantly surprised! It was a Saturday and we were surprised how not busy it was! We walked in and I was impressed with the interior. Classy, yet comfortable and plenty of different seating to fit your needs. I ordered a glass of Riesling- no moscato. They had beer but eh. No mixed drinks. I was more hungry than my bf so I ordered Mac and cheese and grilled brussel sprouts. I'm not a big brussel sprouts fan, but man! These were delicious! Grilled to perfect. The aioli sauce was an added bonus. Very great. Made brussel sprouts delicious. The Mac and cheese was really good as well. I was scared it wouldn't be enough, but it was. Very delicious and very different. Bf loves it since we could hear each other really well. The music wasn't over powering and we were able to have that feeling of being alone in a public space. Freddy's is yet another excellent addition to Birmingham. This quaint little wine bar offers a great selection of wine by the glass or served in an 18 oz carafe for a reasonable price. Carafes range in price from $15 (house wine) to about $40. Additionally, Freddy's serves charcuterie boards (meat and cheese boards) and other bite sized wine pairings that are perfect for sharing. There is plenty of seating indoors and outdoors; however, because of the intimate setting, during busy hours it can get a little loud. Went there with a group of 5 today and we loved our visit. There was limited seating inside, so we sat outside. Such a cute area, so we enjoyed the view. The inside was inviting and warm. I ordered a "little summer heat" cocktail. It ordered it because it contains ginger, and I am typically a huge fan. The drink was good, but I'll probably try another next time. Others at my table also had the burger, Spanish meatballs, and berry cocktail. We all enjoyed what we had. The serving sizes are on the small side for the prices, but taste high quality. I absolutely love this place! This delightful little wine bar offers a fantastic selection of wine, an intimate atmosphere, and excellent customer service. From the moment I walked in I was impressed with everything from the decor to the pleasant greetings. We were very quickly greeted at the walk-up bar and offered samples of anything we showed an interest in. The staff is absolutely amazing, as well as knowledgeable! Enjoyed a nice dinner at Freddy's wine bar last night. My daughters had been raving about it so we finally had a chance to go. We sat outside and enjoyed an appetizer of bacon wrapped dates and started with an Aperol Spritz to drink. Both were very tasty. I had the pear, Gorgonzola and walnut pizza. The flavors were nice but I didn't love the crust. It was thin but a little chewy. The best part of all was the rose tower! I can't believe I didn't get a picture of it but it was a container that held two bottles of rose, kept it cold and had a little spout to fill your glasses. It was only $50 and the wine was actually very good. At least every other table had one and I'd highly recommend if you like rose! Came here after dinner on a Friday night. They were very busy, but we still managed to snag a table on the patio. There is a ton of seating on a very nice patio space. The inside is modern and has a very fancy feel to it. There is no table service so you order everything at the bar (we didn't know this). They have food as well and most of it sounds really good so I look forward to going back to try it. My friend got the Transfusion cocktail and he really was surprised by how much he enjoyed it. I decided on the Blood Orange Spritzer. It was very light and refreshing, perfect for a warm summer night. Freddy's Wine Bar is a unique addition to Birmingham's evening scene! Think European vibes, old movies on the projector, intricate floor tiling, and moderate low lighting. Not too loud, either! As the bar's name suggests, there is a great selection of wine, and knowledgeable staff to help you find the wine that is right for you. They also have some cocktails, and for me, the best part - tapas! The tapas are small, but they are reasonably priced. If you want to get some for sharing, you will probably want to get multiple. I can eat 2 or 3 by myself. :) You order at the front register, get an number for your table, and then pay at the very end when everyone is through eating and drinking. This allows everyone to continue ordering food and drinks if needed. This has worked smoothly for both of the times I have visited Freddy's. My only complaint is that the Highland Tower Beet salad, while it looked very pretty, was way over-salted! I couldn't finish it. I have also tried the gnocchi mac and cheese, the steamed pork belly buns, and the chocolate cake, all of which were incredibly delicious! I will be back for more. Freddy's has bottomless mimosas on Saturday from 11-4 for $15!! It was so worth it, and the food was incredibly delicious! They served their entire menu, and had an added small brunch menu as well! The environment was perfect, and the waitress was very attentive to us. I was very surprised with how empty it was for brunch with their delicious food and great drink specials! Freddy's is the venue I didn't know I was missing in Birmingham until it arrived. Met a friend here for dinner and drinks one Friday night. If you go at peak hours, be prepared to wait in line and possibly for a table. The best time would be at twilight on a cool summer evening so you can enjoy their outdoor seating. Tuesday nights often feature live jazz music, which I am excited to seek out! Having Wine Bar in the name implies they are going to know their stuff and have lots of wine to choose from, and they do. I was pleasantly suprised, however, at the featured cocktail of the evening. The bar staff is professional and really knows what they are doing. As far as food goes, this is not your cheapest option - but being across the corner from some of the priciest places in Bham, it's definitely a good middle ground. The portion sizes are small - think tapas - so be prepared to order a few dishes if you are really hungry. You order your wine at the counter, receive a number and then go get your table. Hubby waited in line and I snagged a table on the outdoor patio. Great outdoor space with multi levels. Wine list is extensive. Plenty to choose from for any taste. Food is tapas fare. We had a large Charcuterie which was fantastic. A bit pricey, but surprisingly good. My first trip to Freddy's Wine Bar was with 3 of my friends on a Thursday night. We had a large comfortable table inside. Half the seating was on a big sofa and the others in cute chairs. The interior is rustic and chic. There are areas to sit outside, but in this heat, we weren't having any part of it. This bar is where you have to walk up and order. Waiters will come by refilling your water and taking empty plates out of the way, but it's mainly self service. The staff wasn't overly friendly and to be honest I felt like one of the waiters was annoyed by us asking questions about their products. He definitely put a damper in our vibe. We ordered several small plates of food and several glasses of wine. My favorite was the grilled Brussel sprouts and the gnocchi. There's other spirits available and you can even order carafes of wine if you don't want the whole bottle. Just make sure you know the prices before you buy. Come time to check out and divide our tab 4 ways, we ended up spending $70-80/piece (including tip)...which is - in my opinion - pretty crazy. If you like cheese plates, this place has THE cheese plates of all cheese plates. They have small, medium, or large sized ones. Get the large, you won't regret it. The one we ordered came with artichoke salad, which I had never seen on a cheese plate before. My only complaint about this place is the parking. I drove around for ten minutes before I found a spot. However, I immediately forgot my frustration when i walked in! You order your drinks at the counter and someone from the staff brings your items out. A nice patio setting outside will make for a great setting on nice days. Once word gets out this place will definitely be a go to spot for a lot of people. The one minor drawback that I saw was that they only have one check out counter so it kind of makes it a bit difficult to pay out with a big crowd. I've been waiting to try this place out and I wasn't disappointed at all. The staff is very knowledgeable and helped me select a wine I loved. I was lucky enough to draw the joker from their card basket and got my first drink free! The food was also incredible! I had the gnocchi Mac and cheese (with freshly shaved prosciutto upon recommendation) and I was scraping the plate. I also had the meatballs which reminded me of a recipe my grandmother used to use, flavorful and tender and delicious. I really enjoyed my experience here and can't wait to come again.
