The food was good and the portions just right. It was Saturday evening and the football games were televised. The place was packed both inside and outside. The atmosphere was friendly and spirited to say the least! The service was very good considering all the tables being served. Our waitress was very friendly, polite, and kept a keen eye on our table. We had the crispy Brussels and bacon and the Pimento cheese platter for appetizers. My wife had the Chop salad with chicken and my son had the Porch burger of the day served with fries. I had the Cubano sandwich with fries also. We enjoyed our visit here and it won't be the last'

Ok, so I was strolling through restaurants and wanted to go somewhere I've never been. I stumbled across this gem in Mountain Brook and I will say that this place didn't disappoint. The staff is very friendly and we're eager to assist us in any way possible. I had the featured burger which was two patties with three types of cheese, arugula and a delicious aioli. I also had the duck banh mi. This was an amazing sandwich. The duck was so tender and flavorful. The burger is now in my top three in the state! They did a great job paying attention to the small things like fresh cilantro and jalapeño on the duck. The hand cut fries are always my favorite and they were awesome. The cinnamon doughnuts were the perfect topper to a delicious meal. If you haven't been her, please put this one on the radar!!!! Oh, on Tuesday, the house burger with fries is $10 all day!!!

Great little stop-off on a road trip back from Memphis . Adorable little town and this spot was great. Covered outdoor seating was a plus! A+++ for that burger, but the fries were chewy and cool and the ketchup was sour(old). Great service and although we didn't imbibe, the cocktail and beer menu was tempting.

Came here with my mom and a few of her friends to celebrate her birthday! Like the name suggests, the porch is lovely. This is a great place to come for a chill weeknight dinner. The bacon wrapped dates are delicious. I think for $9 they can come with a few more bites... maybe 8 so that our table of four could each have two. The fried chicken entree looked so crispy and perfect. I had the farro bowl with pulled pork and it was great! Make sure you're ok with beets and red onions before ordering. Per my last review, the service is still so slow. Never any checking on how the table is, they're only there to take orders. My mom's friend stopped one waitress to ask if she could lower a screen because the sun was shining in her eyes, the interaction was not the best, and no solution was offered.

We decided to try Porch for our Valentines lunch date. We were not disappointed. I ordered the scarlet cosmo and my husband ordered a beer. We shared the apps and the burger of the day which was a Brie burger (so delicious). Everything was tasty, service was excellent and it was a cozy atmosphere. We will definitely be back.

This place reminds me of California from farm to table type restaurants! Great staff and atmosphere! Apps came out quick!

The hubs & I decided to come here for brunch while celebrating our 23rd year anniversary on Sunday we reserved a table online & informed them we were celebrating our anniversary but nothing was acknowledged which was fine I guess certain restaurants honor special occasions and some don't which again was fine of course we sat outside on THE PORCH which was nice and the weather was cool & crisp we got there early enough to beat the church crowd however the service was a little bit slow our server was sweet but she seemed to be all over the place we finally got our food my husband ordered shrimp and grits which he enjoyed I decided to try something different and I ordered the oko & added pull pork I didn't really enjoy it like I thought I would but it was ok if we come back I'll stick to my regular burgers or try something different my husband paid with cash & instead of bringing him the difference in change the waitress gave him change for the $100 bill ??? of course we count our money and that's when my husband recognized she didn't process our payment & only gave us change which was weird??we were a little skeptical coming here due to previous reviews on how some people got odd stares @ weird glances because they were highly melinated (like us) & received looks like they didn't belong but I also saw the owner's response which made us feel at ease we did feel welcome but the waitress not mentioning she only gave us change for the bill almost felt like I dare to say a set up the donut holes were outstanding! I highly recommend getting those to finish off the meal! They were the best thing I tasted

Some friends and I came here for lunch on a Saturday. Literally, some of the first people there. It was cool. Upon arrival, I was feeling like I had been in this space before. Well , I had been because this use to be Mafioza's many , many years ago. So. Yeah .... We were seated. Drink orders taken. I sipped on some dry cava brut because that's what I was feeling. $10 a glass. My friends all ordered the same cute cocktail. They enjoyed it!! I am pretty sure you drooled when you saw the pic of the Brussels. As you should because this was a very delicious app!!! Sooooo flavorful!!! *licks plate* I felt like the overall menu was slightly small or limited. This can be good or bad. Nevertheless, for my meal I got the fried chicken. It was a 7/10 experience. I didn't love the greens. Bland and definitely not your granny's collards with fatback, etc. lol Everything else was enjoyable. The service we received was attentive and solid. Porch had been on my list to try for awhile. So glad one of my friends picked it for us to try. Love the patio (porch) .... Cooler months , I'll happily chill here with a cocktail.

I came by one day after work with a friend and had a nice dinner and cocktail. It seemed fitting that we sat out on the porch since it happened to be one of those summer days that wasn't so miserably hot. I chose to get the Slaty Dog which was wonderful! I love a drink that has a little punch to it. For dinner I ordered the shrimp and grits which were some of the best I have had so far.

Shrimp and grits for the win!

Working in Birmingham, AL for the week and it's dinnertime! So I did some Yelp'ing with my…read moreco-worker and he was craving a burger. I found this place, we came and here's how it went! Atmosphere/Appearance: Set a little outside of downtown in a more urban, industrial-like area in this gem. The neighborhood was pretty quiet and we were able to find some street parking nearby. The Avondale Common House was smooth, welcoming and chill. I remember seeing the lights hanging on the roof and thinking, "yeah, I'm gonna like it here". Once inside it felt like an upscale neighborhood bar if that makes any sense. Lol. There were tons of stickers on the host stand and random license plates above it which gave it a more personal touch, like customers have come and left their mark. However, the bar looked modern, the tables are all wood with one-piece metal chairs and the ceiling had this super-cool wavy look to it! I had never seen anything like it before. Service: Riley took excellent care of us and I had no complaints. Food: I started off with the Berns Blackberry beer and it was delicious. It hardly tasted anything like beer. It had a fruity-sweetness to it and was moderately heavy. For dinner I went with their Common Burger. It contains 2 well-done smashburger patties topped with lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, garlic aioli and a American cheese on a brioche bun. I added bacon and at the time, was able to substitute chihuahua cheese instead of the American. This was such a clutch sub because the Chihuahua cheese is creamy, with some great hints of acid flavor and it was super melty. The burger as a whole was delightful and quite flavorful. Value: Back then this burger was $13.00 and $1.50 to add bacon. That same burger now goes for $16.00 and it's still $1.50 for the bacon. Damn that inflation. SMH. But anyway, this place won't break the bank. It's a chill spot where it can be date night, gathering with friends or whatever. In conclusion, I really liked this place and I would totally pay them another visit if I'm in the area. You should check them out too!

This place is my type of vibe!…read more Trattoria ZaZa has been on my list of places to stop at for several years. Parking often deters me but after attending the Italian Festival earlier that day, we had a craving for pizza. I ordered the combo that includes 2 slices of the day with salad. Since I wasn't overly hungry, I offered him one of my slices and he added another slice to the order. We paid and were given a number to place on our selected table. Jazzy music played in the background while we waited on our order to be brought to the table. The natural lighting, while beautiful, made it a little warm in the building. One of the waitresses propped the door open that leads to the restrooms (which are in the hallway near the elevators) in order for cooler air to make its way in. That wasn't a deal breaker, but do be aware of that on warmer days. Our food came out after a short wait. I kept my 3 cheese slice, and gave him the pepperoni one. The cheeses were very rich and the salad, while simple without the frills, was perfectly sized and drizzled with a balsamic vinaigrette that was just the right amount. While I enjoyed my meal very much and the ambiance, he wasn't overly impressed with his. He didn't want the fresh herbs on his slices and knocked all of them off, lol. He's a simple guy with simple taste. This is definitely a place I will be revisiting with one of my girlfriends and not him next time as he didn't appreciate what ZaZA had to offer. Everyone we encountered was helpful and courteous. Our food, including drinks, was around $28, which was not bad for a cute, eclectic spot downtown. If you haven't been, make sure to try them out soon. Just don't wait as long as I did to visit!

There was someone at the podium at the end who i thought was a server. Was not. After a 15 minute wait (why did it take that long?), we got to the podium person. And found out they were there to take our order, not seat us. Can only assume the 15 min delay was because people were trying to figure out what to order. No signage anywhere saying, please have what you want ready while you wait in line. 2. No menus, anywhere. Yes they can be printed and people in line could take one and figure out what they want. Yes, the menu could be put on the wall behind the server in large lettering. But no, they make you scan a QR code on the wall and view the menu on your phone, so that's inconvenient and a bit obtuse. 3. When we finally place an order for pizza, was told that, "they dont serve pizzas on the weekend, but we could order their "brunch pizzas", instead. Which on the counter, was small anemic cut slices of thick bready pizzas on the cutting board/table. Those each were $8.50 according to the menu. Figure the math of 2 small slices of pizza per person for 2 people vs just ordering a large pizza. But they don't serve pizza during brunch- Trattoria literally has the word "Pizza" in their last name- twice actually- yet you have to order a nearly $9 slice of pizza sitting out on a table for who knows how long, and of the flavor of their choice, not yours. It was flat out insulting to go to a pizza based establishment and be told they won't serve whole pizzas. We left and went to Uptown to a pizzaria there, and had a really good whole pizza, salad, dessert, and drinks, and all for half the price then if we had gone to Trattoria. Wanted to give this place a chance for years, but did not work out the way i had expected it to.
