Service was exceptional, fried green tomatoes were not good. Caesar salad was Bland. Drinks were solid.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Porch is an eclectic establishment in Mountain Brook that merges aspects of both upscale and laid-back dining.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It was a quiet Saturday night, and service was quite timely. I've heard great things about the Oko appetizer, so naturally, I had to check it out for myself. I can confirm that this appetizer was delectable. We added an egg to ours and enjoyed every bite! For my entrée, I ordered the Truffled Farro Bowl and added braised pork for an additional $6. For the upcharge, there could have been a bit more pork; however, the bowl itself was HUGE... I had so many leftovers. I asked to substitute the goat cheese for Parmesan, but it was still served with goat cheese. I so tediously did my best to remove any and all goat cheese so I could properly enjoy my meal. Besides the goat cheese part, this bowl was phenomenal. My boyfriend ordered the Duck Bahn Mi with a side of Maple Bacon Brussels. I tried both of his items and can attest that they were very good (especially the Brussels)! Unfortunately, both of us found a piece of hair in our entrees. I hate to give this restaurant 3 stars, but the hair part was just hard to ignore. Despite the goat cheese and hair found in my food, I would still come back here again.

The food was good and the portions just right. It was Saturday evening and the football games were televised. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place was packed both inside and outside.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The atmosphere was friendly and spirited to say the least![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The service was very good considering all the tables being served. Our waitress was very friendly, polite, and kept a keen eye on our table. We had the crispy Brussels and bacon and the Pimento cheese platter for appetizers. My wife had the Chop salad with chicken and my son had the Porch burger of the day served with fries. I had the Cubano sandwich with fries also. We enjoyed our visit here and it won't be the last'

Ok, so I was strolling through restaurants and wanted to go somewhere I've never been. I stumbled across this gem in Mountain Brook and I will say that this place didn't disappoint. The staff is very friendly and we're eager to assist us in any way possible. I had the featured burger which was two patties with three types of cheese, arugula and a delicious aioli. I also had the duck banh mi. This was an amazing sandwich. The duck was so tender and flavorful. The burger is now in my top three in the state! They did a great job paying attention to the small things like fresh cilantro and jalapeño on the duck. The hand cut fries are always my favorite and they were awesome. The cinnamon doughnuts were the perfect topper to a delicious meal. If you haven't been her, please put this one on the radar!!!! Oh, on Tuesday, the house burger with fries is $10 all day!!!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Great little stop-off on a road trip back from Memphis . Adorable little town and this spot was great.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Covered outdoor seating was a plus![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] A+++ for that burger, but the fries were chewy and cool and the ketchup was sour(old). Great service and although we didn't imbibe, the cocktail and beer menu was tempting.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Came here with my mom and a few of her friends to celebrate her birthday! Like the name suggests, the porch is lovely.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]This is a great place to come for a chill weeknight dinner.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The bacon wrapped dates are delicious. I think for $9 they can come with a few more bites... maybe 8 so that our table of four could each have two. The fried chicken entree looked so crispy and perfect. I had the farro bowl with pulled pork and it was great! Make sure you're ok with beets and red onions before ordering. Per my last review, the service is still so slow. Never any checking on how the table is, they're only there to take orders. My mom's friend stopped one waitress to ask if she could lower a screen because the sun was shining in her eyes, the interaction was not the best, and no solution was offered.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Great food, service, and atmosphere.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Plenty of fans on the porch out front so even on a hot day it's still bearable.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

We decided to try Porch for our Valentines lunch date. We were not disappointed. I ordered the scarlet cosmo and my husband ordered a beer. We shared the apps and the burger of the day which was a Brie burger (so delicious). [[HIGHLIGHT]]Everything was tasty, service was excellent and it was a cozy atmosphere.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We will definitely be back.

The hubs & I decided to come here for brunch while celebrating our 23rd year anniversary on Sunday we reserved a table online & informed them we were celebrating our anniversary but nothing was acknowledged which was fine I guess certain restaurants honor special occasions and some don't which again was fine of course [[HIGHLIGHT]]we sat outside on THE PORCH which was nice and the weather was cool & crisp[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] we got there early enough to beat the church crowd however the service was a little bit slow our server was sweet but she seemed to be all over the place we finally got our food my husband ordered shrimp and grits which he enjoyed I decided to try something different and I ordered the oko & added pull pork I didn't really enjoy it like I thought I would but it was ok if we come back I'll stick to my regular burgers or try something different my husband paid with cash & instead of bringing him the difference in change the waitress gave him change for the $100 bill ??? of course we count our money and that's when my husband recognized she didn't process our payment & only gave us change which was weird??[[HIGHLIGHT]]we were a little skeptical coming here due to previous reviews on how some people got odd stares @ weird glances because they were highly melinated (like us) & received looks like they didn't belong but I also saw the owner's response which made us feel at ease we did feel welcome[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] but the waitress not mentioning she only gave us change for the bill almost felt like I dare to say a set up the donut holes were outstanding! I highly recommend getting those to finish off the meal! They were the best thing I tasted

Some friends and I came here for lunch on a Saturday. Literally, some of the first people there. It was cool. Upon arrival, I was feeling like I had been in this space before. Well , I had been because this use to be Mafioza's many , many years ago. So. Yeah .... We were seated. Drink orders taken. I sipped on some dry cava brut because that's what I was feeling. $10 a glass. My friends all ordered the same cute cocktail. They enjoyed it!! I am pretty sure you drooled when you saw the pic of the Brussels. As you should because this was a very delicious app!!! Sooooo flavorful!!! *licks plate* I felt like the overall menu was slightly small or limited. This can be good or bad. Nevertheless, for my meal I got the fried chicken. It was a 7/10 experience. I didn't love the greens. Bland and definitely not your granny's collards with fatback, etc. lol Everything else was enjoyable. The service we received was attentive and solid. Porch had been on my list to try for awhile. So glad one of my friends picked it for us to try. Love the patio (porch) .... Cooler months , I'll happily chill here with a cocktail.

I came by one day after work with a friend and had a nice dinner and cocktail. It seemed fitting that we sat out on the porch since it happened to be one of those summer days that wasn't so miserably hot. I chose to get the Slaty Dog which was wonderful! I love a drink that has a little punch to it. For dinner I ordered the shrimp and grits which were some of the best I have had so far.

We walked up the street with a half dozen other diners. Wooden City is definitely not in the best part of BHM. Walking to the restaurant was a little sketchy, no need for a detailed description. Although we had reservations, the hostess looked at us like we had three eyes. She found a small table for us in the far back of the restaurant. No problem, at least we were seated. Our server greeted us quickly and went over the menu. We ordered drinks, blistered Hungarian peppers and a sausage and mushroom pizza. We told him that we were going to a concert and were on a little bit of a tight schedule. By the time our server checked on our food, the second time, we went from a little bit tight to full "gotta get out of here" mode. I guess the delay in getting our food was to give the kitchen time to burn our pizza. Over half of the thick, chewy crust was inedible. The bottom of the pie didn't fare much better. The peppers, on the other hand, were amazing. (not so much so at 2 am but that's just me!) They are a do not miss. We were at least able to settle our bill quickly and made it to the concert with time to spare. Overall, would we go back? Only if in the area - those peppers were amazing. Still, I definitely would not make a special trip.

While the quality of the food is undeniable, almost $9 for a hot dog felt a bit steep, especially considering it's just the hot dog without a side. If the prices were a little more reasonable, I'd have no problem giving this place five stars. Overall, the food quality exceeded my expectations, and I'd definitely return when I'm in the area.
