Fish and chips
Allen M.

We had a great dinner here with some friends. We all got something different. I had the fish and chips. The fish (cod) had a light crispy batter and was perfectly cooked. The chips were chipped thick potatoes. The kale slaw that accompanied it was good too. Very good and very different. The burgers were really good. Service was great. We had a great time.

We got super lucky with this gift card. My husband and I won a CharBar gift card at a fundraiser raffle, and honestly I had never heard of CharBar before. Now I realize how much I was missing out. They have a small outside seating area in the front, and there are plenty TVs at the bar. We were seated in a great spot at one of the high tops in the back in the booth seating. The service was excellent. I was really impressed!! I LOVED their blackened chicken quesadilla with black beans, pepper Jack cheese, bacon and fresh jalapenos. My husband enjoyed the Glazed Haystack Chicken especially with the fried onion strings on top and the bourbon sauce. We even got some extra bourbon sauce and I was able to dip quesadilla in it. There were so many great looking items on the menu it was difficult to choose. Next time I want to try their filet mignon or their build your own salad. I

CharBar7 has that neighborhood pub vibe that hits the spot when you want grab a bite to eat alone or with friends or family. There's a dining area, bar and outdoor seating, too. The menu includes classic "bar food," but there's also a variety of salads, burgers, wings, grilled salmon, pasta and other entrées. They're all consistently good. The location in Mountain Brook Village is convenient to downtown, Homewood and Cahaba Heights. If you're a sports fan, they always have the games playing. Add CharBar7 to your game day spot, as well as a go-to location when you're looking for a family-friendly neighborhood dining option.

SHAVED BRUSSELS SALAD

Charbar never disappoints! Tried something new, buffalo chicken wrap with side of Brussels sprouts. The wrap was solid but the Brussels were soooo good. Highly recommend. If the weather is nice, highly recommend sitting on the patio. Great spot!

Great service, great atmosphere and superb food! I had the blackened shrimp tacos which were excellent. They were full with shrimp, a slaw that was fresh and tasty. They also included pico that had a little heat to it but didn't have you reaching for a drink. The two tacos came with a side and I chose tater tots. The tots were your average tots but came alive with a spicy ranch dip! My husband had a burger which he found to be delightful.

Bean burger and salmon Delicious meals.

We had the best experience here. I had the salmon with cheese and broccoli and salad oh wow it was amazing my husband had the black bean burger with the kale salad. plus we had the jalapeño cheese and feta cheese and honey hummus wow it was delicious. Johnathan with one of the best waiters we've had in a long time. Don't miss out go try this place.

Absolutely 10/10 all across the board!! Where do I begin? First of all I've had this spot bookmarked for a while now and got a chance to experience them this weekend as I celebrated my 50th birthday! The food was amazing start to finish we tried the buffalo chicken dip which was very tasty however I was not a fan of the crumbled crackers on top it was almost overbearing but the flavor was on point! I had the ribeye steak the hubs had a chicken sandwich our guests had the pasta & a chicken dish I do not remember the names but everything was delicious our waitress and servers provided top tier service we asked to move to a booth no problem they bought out a extra buffalo dip that we didn't order but have it to us as a courtesy and everything was done with a smile she was fantastic great drinks and I'm a forever fam of their expresso martinis this spot is perfect for a date night or girls night out the ambience is perfect for intimacy as well as fun with all the tv's my husband mentioned it was my birthday at the end of the night and they still had a brownie and ice cream packed up to go!! I absolutely love this place & will definitely be back! Highly recommended!!!

The food and drinks were both really great. Our server was very kind and attentive. The main issue is that we waited for about 45 minutes for our food after we ordered. It felt like a very long time when the venue was not super busy.

I visited this restaurant for the first time on Valentine's Day with my best friend and absolutely loved it. I ordered the ribeye with the brussel sprouts and caesar salad and she ordered the salmon with a caesar salad and the cavatappi pasta. The food was absolutely delicious! The ribeye had the perfect amount of seasoning and the brussel sprouts were different but delicious as well. I tried the salmon and it was pretty good too, but it didn't have as much flavor as the steak. The cavatappi pasta was very memorable and delicious. I made a note to myself to order it with the steak the next time because they both stood out to me. The service was also phenomenal. Our waitress was incredibly nice and accommodating, even changing our sweet tea to lemonade when we expressed that it tasted "just okay". She shared that the cavatappi pasta was a favorite of hers and quickly made sure I received a ribeye when I was mistakenly given a filet mignon before. The food and the service were wonderful and after leaving, I just knew I had to share my experience with others. This was my first visit but it will not be my last! HUGE shoutout to our sweet waitress!!

Was there for lunch yesterday, my first time, I ordered Grilled Salmon Salad and it was delicious! Service is fast and friendly server is a plus. The ambience is great. Will go back there again to try their other foods.

The #7 burger (smashburger) is awesome. Ambiance is great as well and they are open fairly late. The nachos are good too.

What is the price range? Burger or steak price?

Higher end pricing. I would not go there for a burger and there are better steaks somewhere else. The food is forgettable, but the lousy service you will remember and regret.

I wanted to love this place SO BAD!! There's an attached arcade!!…read moreAnd the staff was SO NICE and friendly and helpful and I loved the industrial, creative decor. But we'd spent the day at McWane Center and we were starving so we were there to EAT! The food looked gorgeous but it tasted very meh. The onion rings had too much breading on them, which I didn't think was possible, but here we are. The part of the breading next to the onion was mushy so that threw off the texture of the whole thing too. The burger was very much like a Whataburger. Even the lettuce smelled the same. I got The Standard and the bun of the burger was a little mushy (similar to Whataburger) and there was not much meat. For an $11 burger, I'm expecting more than a Whataburger. My middle kid likes everything on her burger and isn't picky at all and the loaded kid burger looked impressive but it was about the same as mine. Not awful, but not very good either. Very close to the same amount of meat. She's the queen of the Clean Plate Club and she only ate half. The fries were good but a somewhat too salty, the dip that came with the onion rings was excellent and we ended up using it for the fries. We had 2 adults and 3 kids and our meal was $63 before tip for 5 waters, 2 adult burgers, 2 kid burgers, a kid grilled cheese, and a basket of fries and onion rings (I thought I was ordering a "side" of fries, not realizing I actually ordered a basket and it was a lot of fries and onion rings). We don't mind spending money on good food, but the prices here don't align with what you get. No one was more disappointed than me, I've been wanting to eat here for FOREVER!!!

A lot of people are able to walk here from their homes, so it is truly a neighborhood bar. I would characterize the beer menu as limited, but they have enough variety for people to find something they would like. They have a great food menu, and everyone liked what they ordered. Personally, I like the buffalo style cauliflower appetizer (don't judge). Nice and spicy. The fried pickles were excellent as well. Note, order the fries, not the tots. You will thank me later. The only problem is that they don't have any wheelchair accessible parking (which is require by law). One person in our party uses a wheelchair full time, and had to park at the gas station next store. The sidewalks are partially blocked with planters, and it was hard for him to enter the premises.

The staff was friendly and patient as I forgot my readers so a lot of questions were asked. Thank you Andreana. We had the tenderloin (which I haven't had in YEARS). I was not disappointed. We also had the southerner and it was tasty. They had a happy hour where I got a wine and husband got a frozen drink. Then round 2 I opted for the daily drink, daiquiri. Each day there is a different drink as a special. I enjoyed the music and the vibe. Would come back to this place when I'm in Birmingham again.

Seated immediately and ready to take your order as soon as you decide. The Standard Burger (Lettuce. tomato, onion, pickles, horsey sauce & american cheese) is really good. Fries are cooked just right. Previously I got a mix of the Fries and Onion Rings. Onion Rings are great too! I have had The Three Hander sandwich (Niman ranch corned beef, fries, tomato, jalapenos, creamy slaw, dijonaise, mozzarella on sourdough) from their original location which is great too. I should probably try other things as well but the lunch deal is hard to pass up. Since it is not too far from my office, will definitely continue to be a part of my regular lunch rotation. Only downside for me is the parking. There are limited spots on the street out front. Adjacent to the building there is a lot that is part of the apartment complex behind it but not really enough spaces for the 2 restaurants.

The chairs sucked to add to it. I find the bathroom, whoever thought it was such a good idea to put a faucet that high was special because you have to turn the water low enough or push the faucet to the side to prevent from it splashing all over you. My in-laws got there a few mins before us and got everyone waters which that was good. The waitress, it took her forever to come back by to ask for drinks or starters. Granted we were waiting for a few other people but my husband wanted a soda and we were going to go ahead and get an appetizer. I decide to stick with my water because I just felt like I would get a drink if I asked for something different. Which I was right. My husband had to wave the waitress down for his soda. She accidentally brought him diet. She never brought back his drink. I had to get up and ask the hostess about our his drink and that we were wanting to order an appetizer. The hostess apologized and said they were really busy. I know I had to fix my face because I looked around, saw our table, and two other tables, about 6 people at the bar that the bartender handled, and looked back at the hostess like, "wtf?" The rest of our group shows up. Waitress comes back. Still no drink for my husband and gets our appetizer orders along with the remaining drink orders. When the appetizers comes out, it was a guy who brought it to us and we asked him about the soda and he apologizes and gets it for us...finally. Nothing special about the appetizer just chips and dip. We finish it and once again...the waiting game. The rest of our group still had yet to get their drinks. She comes back after another long wait, drink less, and gets our orders. My father in-law mentions the drinks, she apologies, and gets them. The wait it took for our food to come was ridiculous. I hate to imagine how long we would have had to wait if it was actually busy. Maybe it might have been worth my wild if the food was phenomenal but the moment it was sat in front...I knew it was not gonna be good. I got the Alfredo with shrimp. It looked like some soup. The sauce to noodle ratio was not good. The sauce was so runny that I had to lean it and eat the noodle like Naruto eating ramen. 5 measly pieces of shrimp. The sauce was also very gritty. How something that is so runny also be gritty, I don't know but I've had lean cuisine frozen alfredo dinners better than this $29 plate. 3 of us ordered Alfredo, only one got a piece of bread but I'm not asking for bread because I don't want to wait 30 mins to get it. My son looked at me and legit said, "we should have just gone to Olive Garden" knowing good and well I don't care for Olive Garden but also knowing it would have been better than whatever this plate in front of me was called. When walking to my car, I looked at everyone and said, "I'm sorry but this place sucked. I've been curious about it and now that I've experienced it...there is nothing here that would bring me back." So I suggest spend your money elsewhere because there is nothing that makes this place standout enough to have the audacity to have nonexistent service and charge $29 for soupy Alfredo
