I got the chicken fried rice and my friend and I split the lettuce wraps. The food was delicious, but the service left much to be desired. The front of house staff had no clue what was going on but the chef in the back made sure we got our food before it got cold from sitting under the window for so long. Came for lunch today! Love the garage doors and outdoor seating. Fast-casual, order at the front. The murals and decor are cool, definitely suit nighttime better. They have a nice cocktail menu, and a lot of the seating is lounge style (couches with coffee tables). This would be a fun spot to watch some football. The food was satisfactory. I had the garlic noodles with chicken, $17 for lunch. My dad ordered the banh mi with fries. I'm assuming these prices are the same for dinner, but I really think they should be lower for lunch. I'm even fine with a slightly smaller portion, but Tuesday lunch shouldn't be more than $15 anywhere. I'll definitely be back to try something else! I love the outdoor seating. Walking in, it's just as nicely decorated as Mr. West's. I haven't been to East West yet but I assume it's the same vibe? Lots of open space and seating with lots of TVs for entertainment and an outdoor seating area. Service is 10/10! The young lady here today was the order taker, bartender and waitress and excelled at all while making sure I didn't need anything else throughout my time here. She was great and so nice! My food and drinks came out very quickly! I ordered a Wednesday special of the $11 Korean beef tacos, $7 Mr. West's margarita and an additional regular priced $10 strawberry lemon drop. Like I said, my waitress excelled at all of her jobs so the drinks were very good and the tacos were tasty! Tacos were very tasty and the wonton chips are good but I couldn't finish them all. I haven't been to this bar since it's been the Mayor, so was finally able to check it out. I remembered that the previous business had a lot of TVs and so since football season is finally here, that was my reason for stopping by. When you enter, you can place your order for food and/or drinks and put your card on file for an open tab or can immediately close out and then you seat yourself. The Mayor was very clean and tidy and had plenty of TVs. We ordered lemon pepper wings and the Thai chicken lettuce wraps. The wings were just "ok." They were very different from what I expected. The lemon pepper seasoning is almost like a powdery, white substance. We also noticed that the wings weren't tossed in the sauce they came with. It seems like the sauce was just poured on the wings, so as you can imagine, it was unevenly distributed. The wings also weren't "fresh" tasting. They tasted almost like they were freezer burned. The lettuce wraps were pretty good. This dish was definitely on the "smaller" size of an appetizer, but nonetheless, it was good. We also noticed they have a full bar, so you have a lot of options to choose from. Overall, pretty decent experience. Next time we will try something other than the wings. read more

Everything I've had here has been delicious! The first time I tried the lemon pepper wings, catfish po boy, and a frozen cocktail. The wings were crispy and well seasonsd, the po boy was poppin, and the drink was potent. I co-worked for a while on the patio as well, totally my type of vibe. The next time I came with some friends and tried the burger...such a great decision! The bun was soft, the patty was flavorful, the cheese didn't taste like plastic. I know these sound like basic components but they're really doing the details well here. We also tried some chicken bites and eggrolls as apps but I ended up taking them home since I was so full. The staff's been super friendly each visit and they know the menu well since you can ask questions. Our food didn't take too long to come out either, everything was hot and fresh. When you enter the restaurant you can either sit on the side that gives you a sports bar feel with tons of TV's or the side that's your more traditional restaurant style. This place was suggested by a friend so I tried it. I love the decor and how open it was. They had the doors open, which resembled garage doors, for a nice breeze and the weather was nice. It was just small for its $8 price tag. Similarly, the old bay shrimp plate was pretty good. Lovely tartar and cocktail sauce. Double-fry on the fries which made them nice and crunchy. The shrimp were well fried. Big issue? There were 6 shrimp (not jumbo) in an $18 plate. That's sort of untenable. Good amount of fries, and the slaw was great, but it was a bit pricey for me. I'm told the plate usually comes with 7 shrimp, but for whatever reason that was not my experience. I will return to try the bahn mi and another app, but first impressions are that it's a nice place that's somewhat overpriced compared to what my expectations were for a lunch out. She was the only person I saw working the front of the house yet she did it all with a great attitude! A friend and I went on a quick lunch break. The food came out fast and it wasn't too packed. The restaurant has a sports bar atmosphere with big screen TV's. The front has garage type doors that will open up in the Spring and Fall. I have been here several times. While my previous experiences were great, with the customer service being the most enjoyable part i had a much different experience tonight. The brunette in the reddish shirt was extremely rude. She snatched my husband's card out of his hand even after we patiently waited to get our order taken which has never been an issue in the past. I understand they were busy and we were more than willing to wait, but to be rude when all we did was order our food (at a place that sells food btw) is just crazy. I understand being overwhelmed but how you feel has nothing to do with the customers. It is not my fault it is busy at your place of work that you voluntarily applied to work. We have been twice now to Mr. West's Asian Chow Hall / The Mayor in Lakeview and have loved it! We were pumped to see our favorite restaurant (EastWest) expand to Lakeview and bring some life back to this location. The menu is crafted to reflect some bar-food items while still maintaining the Asian/American flare. We have loved the lettuce wraps and got them both times! The 2nd visit we did experience some slower service than we did the first visit, but totally understand the staff is taking orders at the counter while also running food and pouring drinks. The new twist on fast casual Asian food definitely did not disappoint! I have been looking forward to trying this place since I heard that the owners of East West were opening a new restaurant concept. Situated in the middle of Lakeview, I think this is a great addition to the area! First the ambiance. The vibe of this restaurant is fantastic. The low lighting and the open garage doors were a wonderful way to spend an evening. The music was early 2000s pop which was so much fun! Everyone was incredibly friendly and attentive. The drinks were all delicious. I would highly recommend either of the frozen cocktails. They are not incredibly sweet, like I was afraid they would be. The other cocktails that we tried we're good, but nothing extraordinary. I had hoped that they would lean into more Asian flavors rather than a take on a margarita and Moscow Mule. I do think that one of the aspects of this restaurant that makes it so great for the Lakeview area is its approachable menu that still respects the Asian culture for which it is inspired. Now the food. We started by sharing a banh mi with bulgogi beef and the queso tots. The banh mi was particularly delicious and the wonton chips were aggressively seasoned in a good way. It would've been a good meal all by itself. The tots were a little disappointing. I found the portion size to be quite small and the queso is underneath the tots so we ate most of them before we got any cheese. I would've liked the cheese to be drizzled over the top. The burger was good, but was much smaller than the description leads on and didn't hold a candle to the other sandwich we had. Again it was an appropriate meal for the late night crowd, but I would have liked more Asian influence on a traditional cheeseburger. We did take the bread pudding and beef Ramen for our babysitter. She raved about the Ramen and the bread pudding was also delicious but small. All in all, we will go back and try the other Asian dishes and sit on the fantastic patio again.
