This review only reflects the one dish we tried, but we were disappointed. We were looking for the best gnocchi in town and saw a few people recommend Chuck's Fish. So, of course, we had to try. The dish is Chicken Scallopine, with gnocchi, spinach, roasted red peppers, mushrooms, and lemon caper cream at $32 after taxes. Everything about the dish was on point....except the gnocchi, which was doughy. The perfect gnocchi should feel pillowy and cloud-soft the instant it touches your tongue. Light, not doughy, with just enough structure to gently spring back when you bite, almost melting. The interior is tender and airy, never gummy or dense. Unfortunately, Chuck's Fish missed the mark by a large margin and, at this price point, I expect more. To be fair, I have had gnocchi several times and most miss the mark. Zaza downtown used to serve the perfect gnocchi, but unfortunately I haven't seen it on their specials in a long while. read more

If you are looking for an outstanding dining experience, I would recommend you to try Chuck's! I booked a New Year Eve reservation mid December and was able to get the only availability for 8:30pm. A little late for us but it worked out to bring in the new year. A great atmosphere for dining and very comfortable. We started with some fabulous appetizers of a wedge salad, bread service and seafood gumbo. All was divine! It really left us full so we went with a lighter affair of sushi for the next course. We had the Zoo and Backdown Rolls and they did an amazing job with both. We took dessert to go which my favorite has always been their bread pudding but I also got the key lime pie which I think is now my new fave! We've been here twice now for birthdays, and it's officially become one of our go-to celebration spots! If the fried oysters are on the seasonal menu, RECOMMEND! They're fresh, never frozen, and you can taste the difference in the light, crisp batter. We also always recommend the fresh catch of the day. We've had the sautéed fish of the day twice now, and each time it was cooked perfectly. Surprisingly, the potato cake on the side totally stole the show. For sushi, go with something featuring raw fish, the quality really makes a difference. We preferred the raw fish rolls over the soft-shell crab roll, and the sashimi was an excellent starter. The tuna and yellowtail were definite favorites. Service is consistently impeccable. The ambiance was great and better than I expected. We didn't know this was more of a sushi spot-- we wanted to come for oysters in the half shell which they only have occasionally. This was my first time dining at Chuck's Fish, and it couldn't have been a better experience. We had a reservation for a celebratory dinner, and everything from start to finish was truly great. The atmosphere was very lively inside, but despite the crowd, the service was absolutely stellar. We started with the bread and calamari, both delicious, and then tried the donkey in crack from the secret menu -- the rolls were huge, fresh, and so good. It was definitely a standout. Chucks is one of my favorite local sushi and seafood restaurants. Fresh snapper from the Gulf is my favorite seafood dish and all of their sushi is top grade. Finally! I have been wanting to try this restaurant for what seems like ages. This past Saturday I went with my boyfriend and his parents to dinner and we had such a wonderful time! The restaurant itself was much smaller than I anticipated, but we weren't so close to the other tables that it felt like we were on top of one another. We had sushi to start as well as some bread. Honestly, the bread was amazing. I could have eaten all of it, but the start was the sushi and how fresh the sashimi was. After narrowing down the many, many things on the menu I wanted to try I decided on the crab cakes.I absolutely loved them and the delicious citrus sauce paired with the dish. First time visiting this established spot. I had heard of it and now I know why! Parking is tricky, so be prepared if it's busy. We had reservations and were seated promptly. Our server was amazing. We started with the grilled Asiago bread ($7) and uptown shrimp ($18). Both are great shareable items and delicious. Next we had the TNT roll ($22) that was amazing. Went with a party of 6, not very busy when we first arrived but definitely picked up as the evening went on, glad we had reservations. We were at our table for over two hours and at no point felt rushed which was nice. I like chucks and spend $150 to $250 a visit. But wtf is with the operational fee of 5.95. They said because of cost, so they don't have to keep adjusting menus. That is total bs. Its already high end for what is decent food, so cost is not an isuue, take the cost or raise prices. OR DO YOU provide a rebate operational fee 8f cost are cheaper. (No you dont.) Operation cost are a tax free way of taking advantage of your customers as you do not pay revenue tax on operational fee, fee money for business. Very intimate and romantic perfect place for dates we had reservations for 9 pm & got there about 10 min after the place was not crowded or super busy for a Saturday night but the hostess had us to sit down while she finds a table we were a little confused b/c they were seats everywhere?? our anniversary was never acknowledged so I mentioned it & asked if they give a dessert or something and unfortunately they didn't w/o a fee so we politely declined nevertheless the strawberry lemon drops were delicious the fried green tomatoes were ok they lacked seasoning but I added a little s& p & it helped I had the crab cakes & the hubby had the stuffed shrimp dinner was outstanding! We were seated promptly and our server shared with us the specials for the evening and had great recommendations for us. We started off with the fries green tomatoes with crab meat. The tomatoes were very firm and the batter had a really good crisp to it. The crab meat was so fresh and the finishing sauce was the topper. Our entrees were the stuffed shrimp and the grilled trigger fish. The shrimp also had creamy mashed potatoes and grilled asparagus. The trigger fish had a smoked Gouda grit cakes and steamed spinach. Both entrees were very fresh and full of flavor. I wish we had room for dessert but next time we will know.
