Sea Bar exceeded our expectations. Everything we ordered was excellent, but the standout was definitely the Wagyu Surf & Turf Roll--it was absolutely incredible and packed with flavor. Our waitress recommended the baked lobster crispy rice, and we're glad we listened because it ended up being one of our favorite dishes of the night. The combination of textures and flavors was outstanding. For our entrées, we had the millionaire fish sandwich and the Wagyu fried rice. The fish sandwich was perfectly crispy, served on soft, fresh bread, and the tartar sauce and caviar took it to another level. The Wagyu fried rice was also delicious and complemented the meal perfectly. Great food, great service, and a great overall experience. We'll definitely be back. read more

Sea Bar is an outstanding addition to Birmingham's more exceptional restaurants. The refined design, understated color palette, and well-executed decor create an atmosphere that feels both comfortable and polished. Service was excellent throughout the evening--professional, attentive, and well-paced. The food was largely exceptional. The sushi was fresh, tasty, and expertly prepared, and the lobster roll was one of the highlights of the meal. Both were excellent and easy recommendations. There were only a couple of minor drawbacks. The Wagyu fried rice with lobster tail featured quality ingredients and was nicely presented, but it was way over-salted. The cod was perfectly fine, though it didn't stand out compared to some of the stronger dishes on the menu. One final note: the matcha cake was very good and absolutely massive. A single slice could comfortably be shared by four people. Overall, Sea Bar delivers on nearly every level--atmosphere, service, and food. A couple of dishes could use some refinement, but they did little to detract from what was otherwise an excellent dining experience. As someone who loves Little Betty Steak Bar, I've been eager to try their Sea Bar. It did not disappoint. Our waitress was amazinggg! We had lots of questions and she was so helpful. She suggested her favorite cocktail and I was not a fan. I told her and she was so helpful in choosing something I would like instead. We ordered a roll and it was delicioussss! I want to come back and try the rest. The lobster was brought out on like a mini heated plate that you allow to finish searing at the table. We also got steak and rice. We did not have a single bad item. It was amazing! It is a dimly lit restaurant making it the perfect location for a date night or celebration. Looking forward to returning! read more

Food first, thoughts after... A great night! The vibes are completely different from little bettys. It could also be the difference in season, but even at 7pm the restaurant atmosphere is bright with hints of pink. My favorite color! The service was amazing just like Little Betty's and my husband and I really enjoyed our time here. The food was delicious and the cocktails were great too! New alert! I was blown away by Sea Bar -- the seafood/asian fusion spin is perfect. I will be, with haste, trying to recreate the cucumber appetizer on my own. Spicy chili, great crunch. That was certainly a standout for me. I came with two friends and we split everything. We got the lobster crispy rice bite appetizer to start, too. Awesome. For entrees, we had the wagyu fried rice, salmon sushi, and duck. The salmon sushi had a great citrus/lemon flavor that I'd never had on sushi before. Delicious. The wagyu fried rice was a generous portion with perfectly cooked steak pieces and a tasty flavor. The duck leg was also incredible. It came with some seaweed to assemble our own handrolls, which was super fun. The squash puree that came under it was so tasty. All in all, everything was delicious, and had a spin on it that made it a new flavor to me, which was so exciting. We ended the night with the matcha cake, which was prepared like a tres leches. It was perfection. Service was fantastic, and the inside is beautiful. I normally don't love a light color interior for evening dining, but the blush pink gave a beautiful warm light. I'll be back! I hope that they open for lunch soon! I'd love a lunch option for the lobster roll :). read more

I'm still thinking about that millionaire's fish sandwich. Every bite of food I ate was delectable and I ate everything. The service was impeccable. The restaurant is gorgeous. Was worth every penny! Olivia is a doll there were 2 other exceptional female bartenders but I'm blanking on their names Madison feels correct and the other girl's name started with a J. Wow, Lil Betty's Seabar truly makes its mark! My dining experience was nothing short of amazing. From the moment the door attendant greeted us with a warm smile to the bubbly hostesses checking us in, and finally our phenomenal server, Ms. Olivia, the service was impeccable. Fierce, friendly, and insightful, her recommendations from start to finish were perfect. She thoughtfully checked on me and my forever love, always reminding us to savor our meal and enjoy every bite--attentive without being overbearing. Plus, she's beautiful with a contagious personality. And the food? Absolutely a 10/10! If you're not into sushi, you might think this isn't your place at first. But I encourage you to give it a try. Their roasted cod fish is as stunning as the restaurant itself and bursting with incredible flavors. Usually, I have leftovers, but not this time--delicious enough to finish in one go! The bartender also deserves a shoutout for crafting a fabulous French 75--mine was made with Hendricks. Now what's a phenomenal meal without a happy ending? This place was wildly disappointing and I will be honest, I understand the hype because of how beautiful the restaurant and the vibe is inside, but the food itself was absolutely mediocre. Nothing about it was memorable. And we fine dine all over the city frequently. The service was fantastic, but the dishes left us completely confused. We ordered six different items to share and left still hungry. A few being the chips appetizer with caviar, creme freche, and an egg. The chips literally tasted like they bought them from the grocery store, and there was barely 2 teaspoons of caviar and maybe a spoonful of cream fresh. The egg was just a bizarre thing to put on top of such an underwhelming dish. My husband made the remark that he could re-create this at home for half the price, which is true. The surf & turf roll was delicious (and one more we got that I can't even remember the name of because it didn't leave an impression), but I've had comparable sushi at Blue or Bamboo on 2nd for cheaper. Wagyu fried rice might've been the only portion worth the money, even though the steak wagyu was literally just cubes of steak and tasted the same as we would get anywhere else... not really a standout. Don't even get me started about the $26-30 burrata that was the smallest I've ever been served at a restaurant. After spending almost $200 after tip on just six items, I expected portions to be a little larger for two people and dishes to be much more standout. We had seen someone else make this comment about the restaurant (small portions), but we decided to try it for ourselves anyway. They were right about portion size. Insanely expensive for small portions. All of the dishes were underwhelming, and I've had better sushi and seafood elsewhere. My husband also ordered a Coke Zero and they brought him a can and a cup of ice. No free refills. They charged us $3 x 2 for both cokes they brought him. $6 for a fountain drink is ridiculous, and to charge per can at a high end restaurant just feels greedy. I mean come on-- you not having a soda fountain shouldn't be our problem when we're paying for a 5 star experience and spending 5 star money. It felt tacky. The concept is creative, but it missed the mark for us. I definitely would not go back and spend the money we spent here again. However, their sister restaurant Little Betty has always been worth the money for us and is a much better option in my opinion! read more
