Bulgogi Beef Bowl
Nia A.

Nice atmosphere and great service. My beef bulgogi dish was alright but could've definitely been better. A good portion was burnt but I was so hungry I just ate around it lol. I definitely want to come back and try some sushi but it's a bit steep, price wise, for the amount of sushi.

Table ambience

We were greeted and sat immediately, we even had the option of dining inside or outside. After taking our seat on the balcony we were greeted quickly by our waiter Em, she was wonderful! To start we had the pork mo-mos and tuna tataki. Both of which were wonderful, the extra dollops of sauce on the tataki board were delicious! Each of us had a drink with our meal, the Mississippi Summers was our favorite! As we came to dinner we each ordered a roll and shared another, the dragons breath was a definite favorite. The Abhi beer batter roll is perfect for someone who is just starting a sushi journey and may want a slightly cooked roll, it was delicious. Additionally the fire roll was fantastic!

Great food and great service. Everything was fast, fresh and full of flavor! I will definitely go back to try several menu items that I didn't try on this trip.

The food here was amazing! The sushi was so fresh and good. We've been on the hunt for a good sushi spot, and this place did not disappoint. Our waiter was also so nice and attentive. The momos were our favorite. They were so flavorful and the perfect appetizer. The KFC appetizer was also really good- really good crispy fried chicken! Lastly, the ambiance here is perfect. I loveeee dim lighting, and this is the spot for that.

I'm always hesitant with Asian fusion spots, because you risk diluting the cuisine, but Abhi toes the line well! They keep the authenticity of the cuisine but have a great mixed menu with Japanese sushi and ramen and a mix of Thai and other southeast Asian noodle and curry dishes. You are greeted with traditional music and decor to really set the vibe, and the restaurant is filled with lots of light making it very welcoming. We had the momos and lumpia to start, which both were solid small bites, if maybe a touch lacking on flavor. The Panang curry really hit the spot with a nice soft spice and full body flavor. Server brought my friend some extra chili oil when he wanted some extra spice. Next time I want to check out the Ube cake or ice cream, the pictures looked delish.

Sigh. Some friends and I came here on a Tuesday night, to catch up over some sushi. If you've been here you already know that parking can be hit or miss. It's Mountain brook. You can get to the restaurant by taking the elevator or making the trek up a flight of stairs. I took the stairs initially but that was one and done for me! Lol We ordered edamame as an app. After a few bites of it, my friend discovered a bug literally in the piece she had just taken out her mouth! Ewwwwwwww The staff made this encounter up by getting us a different app and the manager/owner came over to apologize, explain etc. Too bad I couldn't really hear him as it's really loud in the dining space. Not gonna lie the bug situation changed the whole mood. We ordered momo to replace the edamame. They were tasty. For sushi we had a few different rolls. I specifically remember the Magic City Roll bc that was my selection. I got this roll without cream cheese. The roll was mid in taste. I was hoping for something spicier. Overall, this dinner was tainted from the very beginning. We had good service , food was very average for the price point. I did love their beautiful outdoor seating view. It's a vibe for sure! Maybe I'll be back here. Maybe not. Whatever I order, I'm gonna request "no bugs".

Great drinks, sushi and service! I love their house made tonic for the gin & tonic, their mule is also fantastic! I'm a big fan of the pan fried momos. The restaurant is beautiful, it could be a good date night location or dinner with the family.

Spicy steak salad

The atmosphere of Abhi won me over more than anything else they offered. The theme of the restaurant is really cool and makes a great date-night dinner. I ordered the Spicy Steak Salad- it was very flavorful and had a lot of steak with it. I'm normally not the biggest fan of steak but I decided to venture outside my comfort zone tonight and try it. I really enjoyed the salad but the star of the show of the Khao Soi- a flavorful noodle dish that's in a coconut milk based curry. While I loved the Khao Soi, Abhi's "sister restaurant", Maro, serves the exact same dish for slightly cheaper. Personally, I prefer Maro over Abhi, as I'd argue that Maro has a slightly better menu and is more budget-friendly (and has just as great theming inside). We also ordered the Blazer Roll to share. It wasn't the best sushi I've had but it was pretty good. Maybe not $16 good, but good nonetheless. Overall, I'm not opposed to returning to Abhi, but it would be hard to eat here over Maro since they are both in the same shopping district in downtown Mountain Brook.

Saketini cocktail
Elle B.

The ambience was super nice and sitting on the porch allowed to view the area. Opal our server was super friendly and gave the great advice of the saketini which was delightful. The momos tasted amazing with great consistency and flavor. The green beans were very good and filling though the sauce was a little too spicy than I would prefer. The sushi was fresh and tasty though it was so spicy! We couldn't tell which was spicier the dragons breath or the villager which we didn't think was spicy. A little disclaimer would be nice with the villager because the siracha is mixed with honey which made me think it dialed it down.

Salmon sushi, tuna sushi, crispy shrimp roll

In one word: wow. This place was great. Fresh high quality and great service. Loved the outdoor seating and the sushi was amazing. Definitely grab the salmon sushi air was the best thing we've had since moving from California.

Service was amazing at the bar!!! Their cocktails are amazing and unique. Food is also great I will be returning to try again.

Ube Cake

Food was delicious. Tired edamame and sushi as appetizer Got curry beef as main dish which was delicious. Ube cake to share for birthday and it was excellent. Definitely will go back and try different dishes.

Finished the sushi boat! Delicious

Abhi has incredible cuisine. The appetizers were fantastic and the sushi rolls were amazing. It's not just good sushi for Birmingham, it's as good as I've ever had across the country.

Very nice restaurant with good service and employees. The food has always been good, but the prices are a little steep for what you get.

Jinsei Sushi - Bangkok Roll

I've just unlocked a new go-to sushi spot! Jinsei left us impressed and happily full…read more To start our dinner, we ordered the Honey Sriracha Brussel Sprouts and the Kadoma Tuna. I have a hard time refusing any brussel sprout dish when dining out, and this one did not disappoint! The Brussels were perfectly crispy and had a perfect sweet & spicy flavor. The Kadoma Tuna is a circular, crispy rice cake, topped with spicy tuna and avocado. I love trying rice cake dishes whenever I see them. This one was more rice-heavy, but it's still packed with flavor. We then ordered the Beef Wrapped Asparagus, along with the Bangkok Sushi Roll and the Suteki Roll. My favorite was the Bangkok Roll, which was topped with matchstick potatoes. The Suteki Roll was super unique, filled with sliced apple, cream cheese, avocado, and salmon. The Beef Wrapped Asparagus was a good addition, but I'm most impressed with the rolls we ordered. The menu is unique and comprehensive. There's detail put into every dish! With more dishes left to try on the menu, I imagine I'll be back shortly!

Overpriced mediocrity…read more First off, the restaurant is more of a sports bar sushi place. Which doesn't really work. The inside was extremely dark, and very loud. There was clearly an overstaffing of servers. There were about 6 or 7 servers for about 4 takes that were in there. Meanwhile the sushi makers were trying their hardest to push out the rolls. And the single bartender was overwhelmed. The sushi was pricey (18-20$ for 6-8 pieces) and EXTREMELY underwhelming. Didn't seem like high quality fish or anything special. Could get similar quality for much cheaper elsewhere. My favorite sushi place that is about the same price point is Bamboo on 2nd. I've been going there for years and never had a bad experience. They have much higher quality sushi, better service, and food in general. (No I'm not affiliated with them)

The restaurant wasn't crowded at all, which made for a quiet and easygoing meal. The sushi itself was just okay... nothing particularly memorable, but it satisfied the craving. Service was smooth and timely, likely helped by the lighter crowd. Overall, a decent spot if you're looking for a low-key lunch without the wait, but the food didn't quite stand out compared to other sushi spots in the area

Where do I begin? I…read morehave lived in the Birmingham Metro area the majority of my life and love trying new places, so when my son spotted this place on a shopping trip to Publix and asked if we could go try it out I said yes (if he was a well-behaved boy at school lol). Luckily for us, he was today. It's location being over the parking deck is probably why I didn't notice it and I was nervous about how accessible it would be however there were two solid ways to get there either from the street or parking deck so that proved to be no issue at all. It has both indoor and outdoor seating with cute decor all over the inside. I've never been to Japan but one could imagine this gave its all to emulate the feel of a cool Japanese city restaurant. There's a cocktail bar on the right, sushi bar to the left, and good seating in the middle. Maybe large parties would be hard to seat upon reflection but I'm sure it's doable. The menus we received were EXTENSIVE. So many sushi and nigiri options were available it was almost overwhelming but they also gave us a paper selection for sushi that went into detail of the chef specials. But don't worry, they had other options including various soups, salads, appetizers (we got the spring rolls, YUM. My son devoured them), and hibachi style dishes. We decided to get the Udon with shrimp and veggies, Osaka roll, and Vestavia roll. Genuinely, you can taste the love and care. My son actually closed his eyes and sighed when he dived into the noodles dish and was enamored with the Vestavia roll (did I mention he's six?? Seriously, that reaction from a six year old means they're doing something right!). I also was beyond impressed with the flavors of it all. I wish I was more hungry so I could get more. Lastly, I want to touch on service. I, myself, am a bartender so service is a big thing for me. I have high expectations because I know how the job should be done. When I tell you these lovely people know how to make you feel at home, goodness. Every customer that came in was warmly greeted and if they were a regular it was like they were coming home. The lovely lady at the front (I want to say was maybe the manager?) was all smiles and running around helping and talking with staff and guests alike. She stopped by our table and chatted with my son and told us she was happy they had "new family members" (LOVE). Our server was phenomenal, even seeing my son was struggling with his chopsticks so he rigged up a pair to be more kid friendly which was great. We were sat facing the sushi bar so we were watching how much care and effort they were putting into each plate. It was a sight to see. This place clearly cares about its patrons from the moment they come in til the moment they leave. The love they put into every dish and interaction should be something you get everywhere. They've set a high bar and I'm happy we got to experience it. I cannot wait to go back. I'm already plotting what I'll try next!
