Was visiting family in Birmingham and stumbled upon this place. The ambience is great! The food delicious. We ordered some sushi, lamb, ramen and Momo's. The pan fried Momo's we're Bomb!!!! Better than any I have tried so far and that is quite a feat! Also a big shout-out to the service staff here. They are extremely warm welcoming and super accommodating, we placed an additional order or Momos right at the close of the kitchen cos we loved it so much but our server ensured we got the order. First time at Abhi last night.....won't be the last! We got drinks at another location before dinner, but the cocktail menu at Abhi's looked promising. I'd love to try it next time. We started with the "Wham Bam Bham" Roll. It was the best roll of sushi I've ever had in Birmingham. Then I had the Ramen, which was good. My husband ordered the Beef Bulgogi. He said the beef was a little tough, and the dish was 3/4 rice with only 1/4 beef. He had recently had beef bulgogi at Umami, and preferred their version. Had a great time here last night for a girls dinner. I hadn't eaten at the other location before, but had heard good things. Food was excellent! We ordered a vegetarian curry appetizer with really good, buttery paratha bread to share, along with the fried green beans, which came with a delicious, spicy sauce. For my entree, I ordered the Bangkok panang curry with chicken. Beautifully presented, delicious, and the perfect portion! My friends ordered the coconut curry soup, sushi, a ramen bowl, and other dishes, with no complaints from anyone. The decor of the restaurant is nice with a nice atmosphere. The owner/chef of the restaurant also came out personally to our table which I thought was a nice touch. I did think our waitress could have been a tad more attentive, but she was very nice. Abhi's 2nd location is even better than their first! The atmosphere is cool and service is always great. Very similar to Bamboo on 2nd, but a much easier experience, since the wait is never too long, you can make a reservation for a big group and you can park right outside. We started with cocktails and they were all fresh and flavorful. They even make their tonic in-house , which is neat (but it comes out a purple-ish color instead of clear, but that's fine with me!) For appetizers, our group ordered the momos (similar to dumplings) and tempura green beans. The sauce with the green beans was so delicious that we asked for more. We then ordered the Sexy Lady Roll and the Spicy Miso Ramen and added pork belly. Sometimes pork belly can basically just fat, but not this time, it was perfect! I just wish that there had been more of it! The Sexy Lady Roll was good, but next time I think that I would get the Magic City roll of the Diplomat roll. Awesome deliciousness now closer to me. The Momo's were delicious as always. My ramen was amazing. I am beyond excited that this location is much closer than 280. The parking is a bit of a challenge but for Abhi's I will endure it. I tried my friends dishes as well. The sticky buns were delicious and spicy. It was a lot of food for a share plate. I would definitely have those again. Lactose intolerant and all I nibbled the ice cream and it was delicious. The bright purple color is so inviting. I went with a party of 8 and everyone was very pleased with their food but me. I ordered the beef bulgogi and the meat was sliced like beef tops/rice instead of thinly sliced beef. Restaurant is in Mountainbrook village and was fairly new when I went in February. I had a great birthday dinner here. The restaurant is gorgeously decorated and the food was dynamite. I came with a bunch of girlfriends and they all enjoyed their food. Service was a little slow at times but overall our waitress was very sweet and made good recommendations. My favorite dish was the Khao soi, which was really flavorful and filling. Next time, I would add more of the pickled mustard greens in there for a bigger kick! read more

Had a less than stellar experience with takeout at Abhi in Mountain Brook last night. When I arrived they said they had never received my order even though I received confirmation of their receipt and my payment went through. The bartender immediately put my order in and said she would rush it (she was the lone highlight of the experience). When getting home I noticed several issues: first a logistical issue of the ramen being placed all in one giant container (including noodles) so after my 15 minute drive home the noodles were overcooked to the point of being inedible. Any restaurant serving ramen should know to separate the noodles/toppings from the broth for takeout. The second issue was the Beef Rendang that I have ordered a million times was sitting in a puddle of oil (grease?) and had a quarter of the amount of beef that normally comes in a serving from Abhi. Overall it was a waste of ~$80 (two orders of Rendang and two orders of Ramen) and not the experience I am used to from either Abhi location. read more

Of the many sushi and Asian fusion restaurants in the Birmingham area, I will easily argue Abhi is the best. The sushi is always fresh and the best sections. I love the seared tuna (the one with Serrano peppers), and our toddler really enjoys the udon noodles. I've had both styles of udon noodles and can't decide which better! I tend to stick with sushi and love the following (because I like spice): diplomat, dragons breath, fire, magic city and the wham bam bham rolls. I've had a few pieces of other rolls that were fantastic, but can't recall the names. Wish Abhi was open for lunch! read more

Their response was that they were wanting to close early due to rain, 8 pm was too late for them...even though their website states they are open until 10. When pressed further, they said that they will close depending on how busy they are in the restaurant...which is confusing because we are customers literally calling to dine in at this business. Honestly, it just sounded like they didn't want to work until 10pm. Maybe your website should reflect that your hours are dependent upon the laziness of your staff? read more

Written by my 5th grader: When my parents first told me about Abhi eatery and bar, I wasn't very interested, but when I went there, it was AMAZING!!! With a relaxing ambiance, great food, and being good for large groups, Abhi is the best restaurant ever. First of all, Abhi has a very cool and relaxing atmosphere. It has dimmed lights and calming music, which makes it seem laid-back. It also has colorful artwork that some people might think as weird, but for me it is cool. One example is two hippos dressed in Japanese clothing. It's also on the second floor of a building in mountain Brook village, so you can see out the windows down below. The second awesome thing about Abhi is it's food. It specializes in sushi, which is my favorite, but if you don't like sushi, they have a variety of other things. Some examples are bowls and soup. While I prefer sushi, their other food is \also flavorful. There is even an area where you can watch the chefs make your food. It's fun to see them prepare it for you. Overall, Abhi's food is outstanding. The last thing is that it is great for large groups. It has a few tables that can fit at least nine people at them. One of them is shaped like a quarter of a pie, with two straight edges and a rounded edge. This table even has a lazy susan, or a place on the table that spins so you can pass food around. My family went together when my grandfather was visiting, and we had a fantastic time there. Once this quarantine ends, think about going to Abhi when you have a big group. Overall, Abhi has certainly won me over. It's relaxing setting, great food, and it's space for large groups, Abhi is the best restaurant in Birmingham!!!!!!!!!!!!
