Steak 2. Choose 2 Hibachi Dinner

Sushi Village never disappoints!! The service is always amazing today. Me and my family sit down and order two dinner meals with steak and chicken. The meat was cooked too perfection the vegetables cooked too perfection when I tell you I could eat eat here every day and not get tired. Amazing the clear soup also really great as well. The employees there are always friendly and it goes a long way.

Absolutely amazing service. Waitress was very attentive to our table. Even brought us extra wonton chips to have with our leftover sauce from the amazing money bags. We split one sushi roll and two appetizers and was plenty of food for two people and left for around 20 bucks. This hidden gem in a strip mall is a must! Inside is decorated very nicely and it's very clean too.

This is my ABSOLUTE favorite sushi restaurant in Birmingham! The sashimi in the nigiri is alway incredible because the fish is always fresh! I highly recommend the Love Boat sushi , that come with over 30 pieces of sashimi and nigiri PLUS 2 chef's sushi rolls! Love this place! The food is always great! The service is always quick and friendly!

This place is absolutely delicious and they have great lunch specials! We occasionally get it to go for work and it is always fresh.

I love the sushi here. I always get a chef special for all the variations of sushi. The spicy tuna and sashimi are really good.

Been craving sushi & hibachi, so I decided to give this spot a go because it's close to my apt. Got the Philadelphia Roll & Lion King Roll to start off. Then I got the Hibachi Dinner with Steak. The Philadelphia Roll is pretty basic but was very good! The Lion King Roll was good but very busy. I actually ended up preferring the Philadelphia Roll. The Hibachi Dinner with Steak was alright. Although the menu says steak, I don't think it's actually steak. It's not the worst but wasn't the best i've had either. And this place doesn't give you both soup and salad, but you choose one. I got soup and requested for miso. It was very good. However between sushi or hibachi, I would say this place is much better go to for the sushi. Overall it was good. However I had initially hit up this spot over my fave hibachi spot in hopes that it would be slightly cheaper plus being closer. After all said and done, I don't feel it was any cheaper. I wouldn't say that I'd never eat here again but I will more than likely hit up my fave hibachi spot if I had to choose again.

The service was friendly and on point. We ordered the Party F platter to take home and devoured the whole thing. Everything was fresh and delicious! This is officially our new Sushi spot. Cannot recommend it enough! Its location is a little hidden but don't let that fool you. This place is worth getting off the beaten path.

Top: 2 fried rolls (spicy salmon + crab) and spicy tuna Bottom: 1 fried spicy salmon roll, eel roll and normal spicy salmon roll
Michelle N.

Came here for their lunch special on a Thursday afternoon. We were the only customers and were seated and served promptly. Our gluttony got the best of us and we got the 3-roll lunch special; my friend got 2 fried rolls (spicy friend salmon, fried crab) and 1 spicy tuna roll and I got 1 fried roll, 1 eel and 1 normal spicy salmon roll. The lunch special also came with salad or soup, and we both ordered miso soup. Our food came out quickly and it tasted pretty good. The fried rolls are very heavy and they're very heavy-headed with their mayo, so it felt very rich (instead of fresh/light). Overall, the lunch special is a good value, but quality is so-so. Not the best sushi but it's better than gas station sushi. Decent sushi for a good value.

I Just had a lunch special 3 rolls for $11.95, excellent! Fast n Friendly service, tasty fresh sushi rolls. Salmon n Avocado, Tuna and Spicy Salmon rolls, with Miso soup. Great lunch at a good price. I've been coming here for almost 4 years and I've never had a bad experience. I'll certainly be back for a quick lunch break!

Bugs on sushi

It saddens me that I have to make a review like this. This has been a place we eat at a lot. I mean like 20+ times per year for 6 years. And we've loved eating here and the service is always great. However, our sushi tonight was definitely a trip. There were bugs on our sushi. But we only noticed it after we had eaten over 1/2 the food. They were really busy and our waiter wouldn't stay at our table long enough for us to let them know. We just paid and left. I figured instead of throwing a big huge fuss in the middle of the restaurant that I would write a review.

A really good price point and lovely restaurant. Comfortable atmosphere with a friendly staff. The food was great, and the salmon sushi was out of this world. I'd skip the rainbow roll during my next visit, but the Alaska roll was fine.

Excellent sushi, excellent service & and an overall A+…read more The reviews for Samurai Japan were very accurate. When I walked in at 7pm on a Wednesday night, it was a full house. I immediately knew that I was going to be happy with my decision to eat here. I started off with the Shrimp gyozas. Since most gyozas are made with pork, I cannot remember eating shrimp gyozas before, and these were phenomenal. I highly recommend that you give them a try. I was pretty hungry, so I decided to order the Sashimi Deluxe dinner. 21 pieces of sashimi seemed pretty ambitious. If I had known how thick the sushi was going to be, I probably would've gone for a smaller dinner, but I'm glad that I didn't know because it was amazing. As for dessert, I always go with Red Bean ice cream. For those of you who have never tried red bean ice cream - you have GOT to try it. I know what you're thinking...red beans and ice cream do not go together, right? Well, you are absolutely WRONG! I don't know what breed of red beans go into this delicious dessert, but it is amazing and incredibly refreshing. Do yourself a favor and drive directly to Samurai Japan...eat until you're totally full...and then order the red beans ice cream anyway. You'll thank me later!

The restaurant wasn't crowded at all, which made for a quiet and easygoing meal. The sushi itself was just okay... nothing particularly memorable, but it satisfied the craving. Never heard from anyone. All round it was not a great experience at all. We sat at the bar. Unless you are really tall I don't suggest it. The barstools are very short for the height of the bar. I'm 5'10. It started off with a very nice greeting from the server and we got our water but then the server never came back. We watched him take orders for people that came in after us and we still waited.  He then took my friend's order and then turned around and left.  Just left without getting my order.   Then the food took forever to come out.  We each ordered a starter.  We each ordered an entree as well.   First my crab sushi roll came out.  It took forever to come out.  Plus it was baked or something which the menu doesn't not mention. I was given chop sticks but this is not a sushi roll. And it wasn't good.  My friends appetizer never came out which was the spare rib buns so for almost 20 minutes he had nothing to eat.   Then his beef Robatta entree came out so now he is eating these two tiny pieces of beef and I have nothing to eat.   The server apologized for the food taking so long throughout the night.   Then the mushrooms came out which was my appetizer.  The mushrooms were really good but waiting for so long to ever get them was not worth it.   Water - we even had to ask for more water. At a restaurant such as this the guest shouldn't have to ask.  We eat at Chez Fon Fon and Bottega very often.  You are never going to see a glass of water half empty. We also had mocktails.  Never asked us if we wanted a second one.  Just took the glasses away. We then reminded our server that other food we had ordered has never come out such as the short rib buns. We were visibly irritated at this point but never rude.  He has no control of the food.  He then said he would check on the buns. He came back and said the buns were running behind and it would be a few more minutes. He apologized again.   At that point we said never mind - we were starving but just didn't want to wait any longer.  It had been almost an hour at that point.  He asked if there was anything he could do to make it up to us.  At this point I would have thought he would have already talked to the manager.  Obviously not.  We said it would have been nice to get our food that we ordered.  Not sure what answer he wanted from us.  It should have been him figuring that out for us.   $160 dollars for that experience is very disappointing.  We left and bought more food because we were so hungry when we left.  I am not one to ever complain unless it's really bad.  It was.

We were seated promptly, although we had to wait until our third person arrived before we could move our tables together. We started with the calamari, which was a great appetizer! For my entrees, I ordered the Cyclone sushi roll since I prefer fried sushi over raw, and the Maa Bowl ramen which included the momos (shrimp) that I also wanted to try the which were SO good! Honestly, I'm wondering why the shrimp momos aren't offered as an appetizer option alongside the turkey and pork because they definitely deserve a spot on the menu! I was especially glad we decided to dine earlier because the restaurant started getting crowded and more lively shortly after we placed our appetizer order. The food was delicious, and I'm already looking forward to returning to try more items on the menu and sitting at the sushi bar. Parking is street parking, so it can definitely be a challenge, but I'd say it's worth it! Overall, a great dining experience, and I highly recommend checking them out!

IKKO Japanese Fusion…read more IKKO Japanese Fusion was a pleasant culinary surprise! We ordered delivery one night and thoroughly enjoyed our meal. We tried both the Salmon and Beef Poke Bowls. The Salmon was outstanding -- fresh and flavorful, easily my favorite. The Beef version was a bit bland and dry for my taste, though. The sides really shined. The Takoyaki (octopus dumplings) were delicious and unique, topped with Takoyaki sauce, tempura scraps, and perfectly cooked. The Gyoza, Japanese Egg Rolls, and Shrimp Tempura were all light, crispy, and excellent. The Squid Salad was also very good and made a nice addition. What truly made the experience unforgettable was our server, Accep. He was a total hoot and had us laughing the entire time. So silly, energetic, and genuinely fun, he turned a great dinner into an amazing memory. His personality alone could light up the whole restaurant, and his service was just as top-notch. The Bang Bang Shrimp was another standout--crispy, lightly spicy, and coated in a creamy sauce. The sushi was the highlight of the evening.
