A true hidden gem right off Highway 280 Let me just say--this place is absolutely beautiful. From the ambiance to the staff, everything felt elevated from the moment we walked in. We made reservations for Bae's birthday dinner, and they welcomed us with a handwritten card signed by the entire staff... such a thoughtful touch that really set the tone for the night. Now let's get into the food To start, I had the Charred Grapefruit Martini--perfection. Smooth, refreshing, and just the right balance. We ordered the Butter Crab Sushi and Lobster Bisque to kick things off, and both were incredible. For our entrées, we went with the Steak Frites (with a little switch-up on the sides), and baby... nothing missed. Everything was flavorful, fresh, and beautifully presented. The food was fantastic. My mom had the trout and said it was amazing. I had the crab cakes and they are some, if not the best in this town. I always get them and substitute for another side. Service was great. Definitely need reservations. We were there tonight, on a Monday. Place was packed. My only complaints: 1) It's a very load restaurant and we had a very hard time hearing each other. 2) The seats lean back so you have to sit up right without your back to the chair. I can finally say I've been to Bricktop's. Located right off Hwy 280, it can be a little challenging if you're traveling west. You'll have to go past it to a light and make a U turn. Traffic can be heavy on 280 during rush hour. There's adequate parking with beautiful foliage and an attractive outdoor waiting area. This location has been there almost 10 years and their decor is still simple and contemporary. There's two large dining rooms separated by an open bar. They do take reservations and with a dinner reservation, we were seated quickly. By the time we were leaving, the restaurant had filled with guests waiting to be seated for a bustling Thursday evening. In addition to their specials, there's a nice variety to their menu with steaks, chicken and fish dishes. We got the Spinach and Artichoke dip appetizer which arrived quickly. The dip had good flavor. The chips were good, but I wasn't that impressed with the salsa. Tammy and I split a caesar salad so they served it in separate bowls. The salad also had a nice flavor and on par. Chase tried the short rib. Presentation was outstanding. It was served with two onion rings and mashed potatoes. There wasn't anything left on his plate when he was done. Tammy tried the crab cakes. It was served with a large mass of skinny fries. I stole a bite and the crab cakes were outstanding. Yom Yom Yom Yom. I ordered the Fish & Chips which arrived on an extra large plate with about seven strips of cod coated and deep fried next to another large mass of string fries with room for slaw. The fries were perfect. The mayonnaise based slaw was creamy, tangy and even a little sweet. It was outstanding and one of the best slaws I've ever had! Yom Yom Yom Yom. The cod was also good but I thought it was a little heavy on the batter. Since I love a good tartar sauce, I have to give a shoutout for their homemade tartar sauce. We saved room for dessert and their bread pudding and pizookie with vanilla ice cream was so rich, it raised my A1c a couple of points! Service was outstanding. Our waiter checked on us regularly and our glasses of water were constantly topped off even as the restaurant filled with more patrons. I have eaten at Bricktop's several times in the last few years. When it first opened, it was a nice white tablecloth venue where the staff was really well trained to work with the demographic that eat there. Our last time at Bricktop was easter. Far less crowded as other place on a holiday so I took that as a positive. I will start with the staff: Staff: The Staff that seats you were simply not into to their job this holiday Sunday. It was missing the Wow factor this venue used to have. Our server however was outstanding. Atmosphere: Very nice as always. But Atmosphere is but one part of what a guest is looking for in a venue of this price point. Food: The Deviled eggs with bacon were as usual, outstanding. The Artichoke was not up to speed, however. My son got the crab cakes and loved them. My wife and daughter had the Chicken Plicata. This dish was not as good as it has been in the past and really needed more of the sauce, we asked for some more and it made it better. Food is relative, I shared with my wife. I was not a fan but my wife and daughter like it fine. The Key lime pie we took to go. Every tasted it and tossed it. This was the not a good way to end our food experience. If I go to McDonalds, I rate it based on fast food and the investment I made to have it. When I go to a higher-end restaurant, my expectations change. For the investment, not being to be crowded, it was a let down and I will postpone returning with the many other options in Birmingham. Eat well, drink well and stay healthy. read more

I have eaten at the Birmingham Bricktops at least 4 or 5 times. Food and service was always good and I liked the upscale ambiance for a large group as noise level was more moderate than most. This time the Service from whoever answered the phone gets an F for implementing some crazy new policy. I called about 3 weeks in advance to book a group of 12 to 16 for a Sunday afternoon Brunch. I was told they had a limit of 10 to a table but I could book two tables, perhaps not close to each other. After I got RSVPs from my group, I called back to reserve two tables for 12. Now the person who answered the phone said they only accept a party of 8 for brunch. I said we can break it into two parties of 6, even if tables are not close , it would work for our dance club. NO! They insist no more than 8 for a brunch reservation. I could have one group come at 1 pm and the other group at 1:30pm. How crazy is that? I was very disappointed because we had sent emails and gotten RSVPs on their rules they gave me the first time. Not only did they miss selling 12 pricey meals to my group, the whole membership of 21 people will likely never darken their door again! By the way, Culinary Dropout has great food and will seat 12 of us together actually at the same time! read more

This was my first time at BrickTop's. It took me a while to decide what I wanted but I settled on the steak frites. It was good. A slight hint of sweet seasoning on the steak. Nice portion size. This is the second time I have been to BrickTop's in Birmingham and it did not disappoint! We reserved a table of 10 to celebrated my bestfriend's 22nd birthday. Once majority of our party arrived, we were seated at our table. We had two servers on both sides of the table so everyone could hear. The ambiance was very relaxing with a great view of the kitchen and nice music. Food came out at a fast pace. I ordered a pork chop with mash potatoes that came with a sauce. The pork chop was cooked perfectly and the mash potatoes were very creamy and filling. The sauce tasted like honey mustard but complimented the pork chop very well! We ended our dinner getting the birthday girl a dessert. We ordered the celine pie. The pie overall was not my favorite has the lemon taste was over powering but paired with the whipped cream helped neutralize the taste. How in the world am I just now trying Bricktop's?! I'm semi embarrassed! Me and two of my friends came here for dinner on a Sunday evening. We were quoted a 15 to 20 min wait. Literally, as soon as I sat down the hostess girl came and told us there was a cancellation. We were seated quickly! The dining room ambiance is so cozy and has the perfect atmosphere. I loved it actually. Our server, Jordon took care of our party of 3. She made great recommendations and provided excellent service throughout our visit. We had two rounds of drinks. Everyone enjoyed their drink selections. I absolutely looooooved my dirty martini ( extra dirty). Grown woman drink! Goodness!!! Those olives melted in my mouth! Now on to the food..... we shared three apps. Shrimp , deviled eggs and spinach & artichoke dip. All were equally 10/10! Highly recommend all three! For my entree, I had the grilled trout with spinach. This dish was tasty and made my tastebuds do a little dance. My two friends enjoyed their salmon dishes. I didn't get pictures of dessert... unfortunately. We shared the keylime pie and bread pudding. The overall consensus was that the bread pudding was way better than the keylime pie. The keylime pie was TOO tart but I loved the crust . The bread pudding was more balanced and enjoyable. Our evening at Bricktop's exceeded my expectations. BrickTop's is a mid tier chain for me. It's definitely a step up from places like Chili's or Outback, but it doesn't quite hit the level of J. Alexander's or Perry's. The service was solid. All of the staff we encountered were friendly and very helpful. The ambience was quite nice too. The food itself was just... fine. Not bad, not great. You won't leave hungry, but you also won't be thinking about the meal the next day. On the plus side, the location is super convenient (near The Summit) and there's plenty of parking. Overall, it's a decent option if you're in the area, but not a spot I'd go out of my way for. read more

We made reservations for my husbands dinner on a Thursday evening. When we arrived the restaurant was fairly busy but we had no problems getting to our table. The service was friendly and quick, with great attention to detail-included added touches for the birthday! My husband got a ribeye and I had the chicken Milanese. Both were delicious, and we were surprised by how much we loved the mashed potatoes! Something so simple, was absolutely perfect!! We finished our meal with a bread pudding, which was great The vibe was business casual but there were also a few kiddos floating about so not stuffy by any means. My sis and I came here for lunch after the Christmas holiday. She hasn't been but I've been about 2 times. I told her the food is good and I normally get the same thing. I got the Steak Frites and she got a chicken dish. She really enjoyed it. I did get the lobster bisque but it was a little salty for me. We both had lemon drops and that was good. My friends and I was there Monday for birthday celebration and I ordered the grilled trout with sautéed spinach, and some of us ordered bistro chicken and ahi bowl, everything is good until towards the end of the meal. We are talking and all of a sudden 2 waitresses started to take our plates with still a few bites left and we're not done eating, she picked up my plate and I still can decide if I wanted to go box, so finally we told her we're still working on our food. No response, no sorry just silence, we didn't mind from the beginning when she asked what do we want to drink when, drinks arrived some of us got theirs and some other f us reminded her where is our drink, and we need to asked her again if she can bring us another glass of soda, now this is past 1pm. The rush hour is over. So the service is not really good for us, we didn't complain but we all wondering what goes on? Ambiance is good. I gave 4 stars simply because the foods are good. Service was pretty good. Not great but pretty good. For me it was probably 3.5 out of 5. Ambiance was far too noisy for me. No fault of the establishment. It was just loud and droning. I had a hard time hearing my family at my table. Food was a bit lackluster. Wife and daughter had crab cakes and they were happy with what they had. I ordered prime rib. We had lunch today, Lauren was a great waitperson, courteous and professional. Booth table was nice for a business lunch. We had the lobster bisque and the deviled eggs appetizers, both very good. The lunch steak frites were good, not great, the glazed salmon was very good. All in all, an above average lunch and service. Ok, so my wife decided to surprise me for Father's Day and take me somewhere we haven't been in a long time. When I saw that we were coming here, I was really excited to see what new offerings they had and I just like the look of the restaurant. We were seated promptly and our server came over and greeted us and took our drink order. We arrived in the middle of a shift change so our new server came over and introduced herself. She had to be new because she had no recommendations or suggestions on what we should have. We started off with the deviled eggs and candied bacon. This was a really great start. The sweetness of the bacon went very well with the deviled eggs. We asked for some bread and the bread came out cold and they were a little hard. The best thing about that was the butter. Then we received our entrees. I ordered the promotion and my wife ordered the Chilean sea bass. Mine entree was good and well seasoned but my wife's fish was another story. First the portion of the fish was really small. We have been a lot of places and never have received a piece of fish like this! It was undercooked and it was tough trying to cut it with a knife. Fish should never be so tough that a knife won't go through it. We politely told our server about this and all she said was ok. No one came by and apologized or offered anything else. Not satisfying my wife is worse than not satisfying me. The brussel sprouts were charred good but that's it. They had no flavor or seasoning.I waited to see if maybe they were busy but restaurant wasn't busy so I said forget it and let's try some dessert. We had key lime pie and the bread pudding. The pie was ok but the bread pudding could have used some warming up and I had a burnt piece! I wanted this to be good but IDK! read more

I love the open kitchen concept it makes everything seem very inviting. The dining area classy. Our server was excellent, BJ MARVEL!!!! Prime rib, oh my gosh, perfectly cooked perfectly serve the baked potato, huge, and on point. The trout cooked wonderfully had beautiful capers on top served with a Bernaise sauce. The spinach was pan seared had a perfect little charge to it loved it. Also getting the New York style cheesecake with raspberry sauce. The food temp, 10 out of 10; food portion. 10 out of 10; tastes 10 out of 10; the cheesecake OMG Phenomenal! They make the crust fresh homemade mixes truly a phenomenal cheesecake, 10 out of 10. They also make all their sauces fresh in house, not out of a box or a bag but fresh, magnificent. I will return to this restaurant. I will try other dishes. Stay tuned for more. And ask for JB. We were traveling through.We have one from our state, so we knew they were good. Loved this one. Great food! Great atmosphere! We had reservations for 5:30pm, but when we checked in, the bar was pretty empty, so we opted for it since bars are more lively. Downside was....snobby bartenders. We've dined here many times before -- at least a dozen -- and have generally enjoyed our experiences, which is why this visit was especially disappointing. We requested a booth reservation not in the bar area, but when we arrived, we were told we could not be seated at a booth unless we had a larger party. This was confusing, as there were several booth tables occupied by three people, the same size as our party. Once seated, our server returned to the table every few minutes asking if we were ready, despite us explaining that it was brunch and we needed a moment to review the menu since it differed from what we'd had before. Instead of allowing us time, he hovered nearby and appeared to be watching our table, which made the experience uncomfortable. The food itself was also an issue. The salmon was overcooked and heavily seasoned. Additionally, we specifically requested the dressing on the side, yet it arrived already on the salad and had to be corrected. Throughout the meal, the server repeatedly asked if everything was on one check and continued asking if we wanted anything else, which felt less like attentive service and more like being rushed out. When he cleared the plates -- despite the fact that almost none of the salmon salad had been eaten, only a few bites total -- he never asked whether we enjoyed the food or if something was wrong. We're disappointed because this is a place we've supported many times in the past, but this brunch experience felt rushed and lacked the level of service we've come to expect. read more

Brick Top is consistently delicious. We will eventually have to try another app besides the Butter Crap sushi roll but maybe not. It's insanely good. What's not to love about dipping a warm crab roll in hot butter!? We both got the blue fillet mignon and it was exquisite, cooked to perfection and melt in your mouth. The baked potato it came with looked so good but I didn't even try it because I wanted to enjoy the fillet. Our waitress was very attentive and helpful. When I moved here BrickTop's was highly recommended. I finally gave it a try and it was okay. The atmosphere is really nice and I loved their open kitchen concept. I was with two family members - we started with the spinach and artichoke dip which was phenomenal! For entrees we ordered the Cedarwood plank salmon , bistro chicken and Atlantic salmon. My Atlantic salmon came out cold and raw - I sent it back and stated I didn't want anything else but the kitchen manager brought me out another plate which I thought was a kind gesture. The bistro chicken and Cedarwood Salmon were really great. The Atlantic salmon needed more seasoning but was good. read more

The artichoke dip, salsa and chips were the best I've ever had. So fresh and dip easy very tasty. I was torn between the chicken piccata and the salmon. I love seafood so I went with my waitress suggestion on the salmon...... it didn't disappointment. My friend's chicken piccata looked good too, I actually got to taste it and it was delish as well. The food is always great. If you're waning a more "refined" dining experience, the dining room offers white table clothes and servers wearing pearls and matching black dresses.
