We visited Burmingham for the Transplant Games of America and found this place right next door to our hotel. The elevator with purple lights has a cool open top feel surprise! I came here on a Saturday night after 11 pm and it was still pretty crowded. The indoor bar area is extremely too small and just isn't very accommodating. I appreciate the outside roof top space. The view is nice and a tad bit more spacious than the inside. My recent rooftop experience was brief , as it was cold and not any clear tent pods available for us. I do like the addition of the clear pods/tents bc in this new covid era, that separation is necessary. I really do look forward to warmer days in Birmingham , so I can come back here. I do not recommend coming on cooler days/ nights. Also, I recommend getting here early enough to score a space for you and your guests. read more

The roof is a rooftop bar at the top of The Redmont Hotel. We visited The roof at about 5 pm (still happy hour which is Monday-Friday, 4pm to 7pm) and the drink prices are actually reduced by $2 between these times. Not a huge discount in my opinion but good prices! There weren't a lot of people so we had an entire section outside to ourselves. The view from The roof is pretty nice if you have nothing to compare it to but I appreciated a downtown view of Birmingham none the less. The drinks were nice! I got The twisted Paloma! I like a sweet drink and this one is not very sweet but it has a fresh grapefruit taste that I couldn't stop drinking! After about 10 minutes I felt a nice buzz but was ready to go. My fiancé got the Gin Rudy Lemonade. I wish I had gotten that one because his was sweeter and he drank his in less than two minutes. You get about 10oz. The seating and decor is nice. There's also inside seating which is stylish. Will definitely be back! I would've stayed much longer if there were food options but there is a restaurant down stairs if you're really hungry! This is such a cool bar. We visited in November 2020 because we wanted to celebrate my birthday in an open air space that would be safe for social distancing. There isn't much soft seating on the rooftop so try to get there early but it also didn't take long for a space big enough for our group to open up. We went about 6pm before our dinner reservations elsewhere. The bar started to get a bit more crowded later in the day it got. This bar has a cool urban vibe. There are fake grassy walls that are fun backgrounds for photos and the views were amazing. Drinks were great! They had several speciality cocktails and were priced at what you would expect for any hotel bar. All around a great experience. read more

I've been to the Roof at the Redmont Hotel twice. I enjoyed both times. Most recently we stopped for drinks after dinner. When you get off the elevator there is a small bar and a small seating area. When you step outside there's the larger bar, multiple couches, and chairs. They have a DJ playing the latest Top 40. The view of the city is amazing. I was undecided on what drink I wanted. I explained to the bartender what I was looking for and what she created was spot on. A nice spot to stop for drinks with a date or a group of friends. read more

We were staying at the Redmont and looking for a nightcap. The downstairs bar looked ok but we had heard about the Roof and wanted to check it out. Place is bigger than I thought, not a lot of seats but plenty of places to stand and look out over the city. Drinks were ok, not great but they served us quick despite having a decent sized crowd. Even though it was a blistering hot day, it was very pleasant at night and being 14 stories up gave us a very nice breeze. read more

A must in Birmingham simply for the view itself. Located at the very top of the historic Redmont hotel, The Rooftop offers a decent amount of seating and a full bar to enjoy a nice evening or late afternoon drink overlooking different angles of the city of Birmingham. Please note this is not the highest view in the city, but it still is beautiful, especially the angle looking towards Red Mountain. If you come during prime hours, seating may be hard to come by. They do have good Happy Hour discounts until 7PM( I believe they were $1 off drafts and $2 off cocktails), so get there before then to avoid higher prices. All in all, a fun place to enjoy a drink with a view. I'll be back and hopefully bring a group of friends next time. read more

Stepped in this hotel, went up the elevator and stepped into the best party atmosphere my friends and I found in the seaport area. this bar is located in the historic Redmond hotel which is actually Hilton property do you have to enter the hotel and go all the way up to the top. . came here for only one thing: the Alabama slamma The bartender gave me a little bit of a side eye and said you know it's not very good but I'll make it for you. He gave his own variation on it and it actually was very tasty I was surprised that he had such a low opinion of the drink and he said well it's because I made it. He was funny and the drink was pretty good and strong. We also had a few other drinks including a peach frozen drink which is delicious as well. Price Actually not too bad given the craft cocktails.They were also pretty generous with the liquor. Ambiance this is the main reason people come here because of the rooftop views. Having just come from the Vulcan statue I don't think that this comes close to that. Plus everyone was drinking their drinks by the rooftop area so it's hard to stand there or even sit. We ended up ordering at the bar and sitting inside on the nice couches anyway. however if you are going for a rooftop you in the city this is the place to be. Bathrooms are clean. Parking In this part of the city the parking is pretty tight and I would recommend waiting until after 6:00 to do the free streete parking. There's also garage parking but it is pretty crazy. Service the bartenders were all very accommodating and friendly. No complaints here at all. Overall if I was in the area I would definitely come back. Great 1st time experience at The Roof! The space has a nice mix of seating areas; comfy coaches with heat lamps, large bar with plenty of bar stools and a wall mounted TV, plus a more intimate seating arrangement right when you enter the outdoor area. And the views, wow!! Best spot in town for seeing all of downtown Bham. We only had drinks, so cannot comment on food, but we will definitely be back. If you entertain out of town business guests, this would be a must stop to show off the best of our city! Plus, hitting PH in the elevator is pretty impressive!! read more

This is hot spot and hidden gem in BHM. My husband and I really enjoyed our time up there. The entrance into the hotel is so lovely and such a great start to the experience. We went up at sunset and loved the classy vibe of the greenery in the walls and the nice furniture. The cocktails were delicious. Mine was a pina coloda themed drink and so refreshing. My one complaint were the two private parties they were hosting in an already small space. It made the public area very small and packed out. We left early because of that. I hope to experience more visits there in the coming months and have a different experience! read more

The Redmont Hotel is in a great location, close to great downtown businesses and restaurants. Since the renovation to the entire hotel; The Roof is a spectacular venue for good drinks, small plates and one of the best view of the City of Birmingham. The rooftop bar is rather limited, while the bar/restaurant in the lobby has more of a selection of drinks, as well as food. But, the rooftop does provide a decent view. The staff are so pleasant and helpful. They offer a wide variety of specials at the Roof and in particular Monday are half off bottles of wine. This is a great location for after work quick drinks or weekend gathers with friends and family. read more

The first time I came here, I had one of the worse experiences ever. I told my bf to order me a very dirty martini with vodka. He said exactly that and I got a drink and tasted it- disgusting. It was dark inside and a few minutes later I realized my drink had some brown in it. It must've been bourbon, but who doesn't listen to exactly what the customer orders? My bf and I went back again in hopes of a better experience. We talked to the bartender who assured me that my drink will be better this time. I chose the porch pounder? SO GOOD! The view in and of itself is more than enough of an incentive to drop by and check out The Roof at Redmont. Seatings are a little limited, but who's really coming up here to sit? Drinks are on the higher end in terms of price, but that is to be expected for the ambience and view. Their happy hour specials are fantastic, from 4pm to 7pm is definitely a good time to come. I do wish they had a more extensive selection of wine though. They bring heaters out if it gets too cool as well so you don't have to be too worried. Service is great, but the bartender(s) can get overwhelmed with how crowded it gets up here. This rooftop would be perfect except they allow nasty smokers to ruin it for people who want to enjoy the fresh air. After asking three times the staff finally told one person not to smoke. Atop of the newly renovated Redmont hotel is the newly renovated rooftop bar. I am pleased to say they have done a great job. This is an excellent spot to have some Thursday/Friday drinks whilst overlooking downtown and taking in the ambiance and views of our industrious, developing, innovative city. They have a few beers and wine not an outstanding range but enough to keep you interested. They also have liquor and a number of signature cocktails. They have a few local beers in tap, good to see them supporting the local beer scene. The service was good but not great. The price point for the drinks is high but that's what you come to expect for a hotel. I'll be back. Till next time read more

The Roof at the Redmont is one of Birmingham's gems. It's become one of my favorite places to go for a drink on a nice night, and definitely one I take my out of town guests to. The first time we went was on a Monday in the early evening. It wasn't crowded and they offer half price bottles of Rosé in place of their other Happy Hour specials. Sharing a bottle with friends on top of the city was delightful. Round two of our Roof visits was after the July Art on the Rocks, so late on a Friday night. Much more crowded, but we were still served quickly and were able to find a place to chat with our friends. The cocktails are standard cocktail prices, so it's definitely not a bargain bar. But I would say the prices for the quality and atmosphere are well worth it. read more

Find the Redmont Hotel, take the right elevator to the penthouse, and walk up to the bar. You won't be disappointed. If lakeview is too loud, and you don't mind spending 3 more dollars per drink for much higher quality drinks and for a superior experience then this place is a must-go. Weekends can be a little crowded, so if you want to mingle then that's your time. If you want a quiet drink in a great atmosphere, check them out earlier in the week. They have a list of cocktails, and a full bar with the necessary ingredients to make just about anything,(except fireball, jagermeister and Coors light, which some might see as a plus), and the crowd is generally well mannered. Did I mention that you get to drink on the roof of a building? I want to say its 15 or 16 stories up. Go there at least once if for nothing more than the photo op. read more

Birmingham's rooftop bar is back! The Roof is the phoenix-reborn of the former Above rooftop bar at Redmont hotel. The renovations have made this location extra swanky and luxe feeling without making it too pretentious. When you walk in the hotel lobby, proceed to the elevators and pick the 'PH' floor (it already makes you feel fancy before you even get there!). You'll be greeted by snakeskin walls and sensual modern art. There are two seating options, inside and out, but you'd be a fool to not sit outside. The sweeping views of downtown from city center are pretty fantastic and hard to beat. The seating is comfy and plentiful. The menu is well-priced and diversified (no up-charge on beer here, local favorites are the standard $5). The servers are attentive and helpful. All in all, a not-to-be-missed renewed addition to the city center. read more

I never got a chance to experience The Roof because apparently all the locals come here for Happy Hour as well and it's not staffed properly. I sat at the bar outside and was completely ignored as more and more locals came in and were served inside. When I asked if there was a bartender outside I was told no without any acknowledgement of the fact I was sitting outside waiting to be served. I had to go downstairs to the bar and pay full price. This is not how The Redmont should be treating the paying guests in their hotel. read more
