Servers were great. Drinks were good. Ambiance is nice. They have an outdoor patio and it is dog friendly. The loaded potatoes were from a food truck, Hush.

Second time here and it didn't disappoint! Wanted to try some holiday themed drinks and all were so good! My favorite (not pictured) was the eggnog! Guys, they make their own egg nog! It was 10/10! The best I've ever had! I also tried the leg lamp and it had a nice sour holiday flavor! Service was excellent! Server knew the menu very well! Theme and music were perfect for a Monday night!

While visiting a friend in Birmingham, I was told I had to check out Bygones -- and since my friend knows the owner, Michael, I couldn't pass it up. I'm so glad I didn't. This place is an absolute gem. Michael is one of those rare owners who's both incredibly talented and genuinely laid-back. You can tell he takes pride in what he does -- from the quality of the drinks to the overall atmosphere he's created. The cocktails here are top tier. Each one is beautifully crafted, balanced, and bold -- exactly what you want when you go out for a night of good conversation and great drinks. They're strong but smooth, affordable yet upscale, and the kind of cocktails that make you pause after the first sip just to appreciate how well they're made. The atmosphere is what really ties everything together. Bygones manages to hit that sweet spot between classy and comfortable. Whether you're there for a business meeting, catching up with friends, or even celebrating something big (there was a bachelor party while we were there), it just works. The music, lighting, and overall vibe make it one of those places you instantly want to return to. If you're in Birmingham and looking for a cocktail bar that checks all the boxes -- friendly faces, strong drinks, and an atmosphere that fits any occasion -- do yourself a favor and stop by Bygones. Trust me, you'll leave impressed.

Really enjoyed my first time at Bygones! Dropped in on an early Friday evening and it was the perfect place to grab a strong & tasty cocktail. I really like the space and vibe. The mixologist (bartenders) were very helpful & gave great suggestions. The music wasn't too loud and I was able to hold a conversation and we both hear each other. Also, it wasn't too crowded and felt like a cocktail bar. We had the Bygones Martini with Gin & the BANDOLERO. I wasn't sure I would like the BANDOLERO bc it had Tequila Reposado and 100° Rye Whiskey but I was wrong!! It was the perfect drink to sit and sip and enjoy great conversation!! Def adding this bar to my list of cocktail bars I frequent.

Small drink menu but excellent cocktails! The bartenders will also create what you're looking for. Priced well for the quality. Friendly service. Highly recommend!

I really enjoyed my first visit here! It wasn't busy and it's very cozy here. I had a nice , delicious drink on rainy Sunday evening . The atmosphere was fantastic! This is a great addition to downtown Birmingham, AL.. Great service & amazing craft cocktails!

"A taste of the past, in every sip!! This is a new cocktail bar on the Southside of Birmingham. It is a pretty place on the inside with seating at the bar as well as tables. There are also a few outside tables. The bartenders were great. You could tell they really cared about their customers and the cocktails they made. It was a nice experience and I'll definitely have to go back. I tried their Sundog Sling. It was really good.

Super cool cocktail bar. They have a menu but will also take special requests. I had a raspberry martini. So good!! We had a great time coming here on a Saturday afternoon. Staff were super friendly and answered all our questions. Will definitely come back!!

Really excited to see this new addition to the Birmingham bar scene. The guys that own the place have done a ton to make the place really evoke that speak easy vibe. One thing that I thought was a great decision was to add a window for food trucks to pull up and plug-in (this is a non-trivial feature as it takes the noise element out of a truck using a generator). When they told me they had done that they said it was wired for 220. I replied "220, 221 whatever it takes". Apparently they haven't seen Mr. Mom starring Michael Keaton and Teri Garr. They are committed to making truly craft cocktails. In order to do that, you have to make many of your own mixers. The good news is that they have picked six signature drinks to ensure they do the volume to keep all of those mixers moving at sufficient volume to be fresh all the time. In a similar vein, they are doing wine on tap. This is a far better way to go for most bars and restaurants to deliver great product at an affordable price. It eliminates so much waste and the product is as good or better than the vast majority of bottled options. My favorite place in Houston is '60 Vines' that does this exclusively. Besides how bottled wine is handled in transit, the cost of correctly storing it is quite large. Good decisions all around.

What a neat place!!!! Michael the owner and his staff are so personable!!! And they have some allocated bottles that I HAD to try!! They are bar prices but at least you have the chance to try them before you start your bourbon journey!!! We will be back for a night cap when in the city!!!

Yummy! We typically go very early in the evening, so it wouldn't be fair for me to speak to their ambiance. However, my drinks have always been delicious, and it is very clear that the bartenders are passionate about their menu. They are very knowledgeable, and always willing to talk through my preferences to help choose a drink. Many of them have even been able to name exactly where their ingredients are sourced from! I complimented a drink this summer, and the bartender took pride in telling me what farm the cantaloupe was from, how they processed the vanilla beans, etc.. It's about as farm-to-table as a cocktail can be. I do wish the menu was a tad longer.

Bar tenders were cool and personable. They joked with us and answered our questions. The drinks were well made. The musical selection was very diverse. It's romantic and chill. We definitely will be back.

A time was had! This bar gave me everything I need from the minute I walked in security, very friendly and very protective! the vibes and ambience are perfect. They give mature classy, but not too stuffy. The bartenders are super cool inviting and they make great drinks. the music was on point me and my girlfriend had the best time. I will definitely make this a regular spot

It's a great bar with comfortable seating, and on this night it wasn't so loud that my older, hearing impaired friends wouldn't enjoy it. Burlesque aside, this is a great bar for an intimate drink. They have multiple seating options; the first floor has booths that can accommodate smaller and large groups. The bar area is very inviting and fun to be able to watch your drinks being made and upstairs offers a more private area. When not seated at the bar they do have someone to come around to make sure you have what you need. The servers are very nice and tend to remember you, which is a great feeling. The menu rotates seasonally, which makes it easier to try new things. My favorite menu item so far has been the cheeseball that was on the menu around Christmas time. It had a great flavor served with crackers the only thing is when we came back after the first of the year it wasn't on the menu anymore. On my most recent visit I had the queso which also had great flavor, served with blue corn tortilla chips. When it comes to the drinks I like how on the menu they let you know how strong it is using toucans. Many of the drinks feature rum, but they do still offer some gin and tequila options. Everything I've had has been good and something I would try again. I would like to note that many of the drinks are fruity and can be somewhat sweet. At Christmas time they even had holiday themed drinkware which I felt was a nice touch. If you are not a drinker, they also have options for mocktails. Which has been great for me the last couple of months. I didn't care for the Phony Negroni, but I think Negroni itself might be an acquired taste

The menu varies so don't expect this menu when you go. The smash burger is dependable and good. The duck fries are pretty awesome, but they seem to be super enthused about their house seasoning, almost to the point of obliteration! It's good; They just need to be a little more judicious with it. Pictured are the noteworthy Brussel sprouts: "$10 BRUSSELS' SPROUTS Red wine balsamic glaze, Agrodolce pearl onions, scallions, fried garlic " You can also have them topped with grilled chicken for a few bucks more. Can Brussels be overcooked? Apparently not. These aren't as charred as the photo suggests. The red wine / balsamic reduction adds a lot of color to them. They may look charred but there's no burned taste in the flavor. I know, those poor little Brussels look overwhelmed, but they're not. They were good in my mouth and belly. Be careful not to spill any in the car on the way home, or the next day your car will not be very welcoming to guests.

We went very early one Saturday and were the only people in there -- but I won't hold this against them at all, as we are always early birds. The staff were all hanging out in a booth near the door. One bartender eagerly jumped up to help us, but the rest seemed pretty inconvenienced by our presence. Our bartender was great -- very personable and knowledgeable. That's about the only redeeming factor. The menus were tattered and sticky, bar itself was kinda gross, lipstick marks on our glasses, and our drinks were subpar at best. I believe the theme when we went was something about Italy, so there was a lot of potential for creative drinks, but they all seemed pretty uninspired -- think limoncello, Negronis, etc.. Also, some weird blue frozen one, but I can appreciate catering to every crowd! We probably won't be back.

The chairs sucked to add to it. I find the bathroom, whoever thought it was such a good idea to put a faucet that high was special because you have to turn the water low enough or push the faucet to the side to prevent from it splashing all over you. My in-laws got there a few mins before us and got everyone waters which that was good. The waitress, it took her forever to come back by to ask for drinks or starters. Granted we were waiting for a few other people but my husband wanted a soda and we were going to go ahead and get an appetizer. I decide to stick with my water because I just felt like I would get a drink if I asked for something different. Which I was right. My husband had to wave the waitress down for his soda. She accidentally brought him diet. She never brought back his drink. I had to get up and ask the hostess about our his drink and that we were wanting to order an appetizer. The hostess apologized and said they were really busy. I know I had to fix my face because I looked around, saw our table, and two other tables, about 6 people at the bar that the bartender handled, and looked back at the hostess like, "wtf?" The rest of our group shows up. Waitress comes back. Still no drink for my husband and gets our appetizer orders along with the remaining drink orders. When the appetizers comes out, it was a guy who brought it to us and we asked him about the soda and he apologizes and gets it for us...finally. Nothing special about the appetizer just chips and dip. We finish it and once again...the waiting game. The rest of our group still had yet to get their drinks. She comes back after another long wait, drink less, and gets our orders. My father in-law mentions the drinks, she apologies, and gets them. The wait it took for our food to come was ridiculous. I hate to imagine how long we would have had to wait if it was actually busy. Maybe it might have been worth my wild if the food was phenomenal but the moment it was sat in front...I knew it was not gonna be good. I got the Alfredo with shrimp. It looked like some soup. The sauce to noodle ratio was not good. The sauce was so runny that I had to lean it and eat the noodle like Naruto eating ramen. 5 measly pieces of shrimp. The sauce was also very gritty. How something that is so runny also be gritty, I don't know but I've had lean cuisine frozen alfredo dinners better than this $29 plate. 3 of us ordered Alfredo, only one got a piece of bread but I'm not asking for bread because I don't want to wait 30 mins to get it. My son looked at me and legit said, "we should have just gone to Olive Garden" knowing good and well I don't care for Olive Garden but also knowing it would have been better than whatever this plate in front of me was called. When walking to my car, I looked at everyone and said, "I'm sorry but this place sucked. I've been curious about it and now that I've experienced it...there is nothing here that would bring me back." So I suggest spend your money elsewhere because there is nothing that makes this place standout enough to have the audacity to have nonexistent service and charge $29 for soupy Alfredo
